Thank you. You answered most of my questions. Is stroke considered the same with the diet restrictions on seeds, nuts and avocado in respect to atrial fibrillation? Discussion about cholesterol and tests for inflammation is very useful for talking with health care pill pushers. Not to take away from Dr Furchgott, Louis J. Ignarro and Ferid Murad w/their joint 1998 Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for their work related to "nitric oxide as a signalling molecule in the cardiovascular system". But 90 + universities, academies and societies acknowledge Dr. Moncada’s priority (first) discovery that nitric oxide is released by endothelial cells and revealing of its metabolic path. Over 20K citations of their fundamental papers in the scientific community endorse his primacy in this field. Robert Furchgott himself author of the brilliant discovery of the endothelium derived relaxing factor, that opened this field to the science, said about 1998 Nobel Prize: "I feel that the Nobel Prize Committee could have made an exception this year and chosen a fourth person, Salvador Moncada (to share the prize)". In good science your always building on others work.

God Bless you folks for everything you do, and all the advice you freely offer. Just want to give a shoutout to the heart doctor who saved my life some 13 years ago, and would dearly love to become a patient of his again, but I do not believe he is in my current insurance plan. His name is Dr Keith Kruithoff. Does Dr. Esselstyn Jr. know him? I last saw Dr. Kruithoff in his office in Beechwood in 2017 when I had an insurance carrier that covered his services. I'm thinking I just might pay out of pocket to see him again and have him run some of these tests that you suggested. thanks and God bless for all your life giving advice!

I just listened to this fantastic podcast! Thank you! I do have a question though regarding Cholesterol. Your Dad mentioned there are 5 blood tests you can take to measure your blood inflammation. I went back and checked the transcript and he only mentions 4. What is the 5th? While my cholesterol is low at 136, my HDL is also low at 38. My LDL is 73.6. I am trying to find out why my HDL is so low and the LDL is higher than I would like. I am plant strong for sure and would like to know if maybe like your Dad suggested, I'm fine even with these numbers where they are. Thank you again!

Update on smoothies and NO. I was able to get to the threshold of appropriate NO only after a green smoothie made with non-organic greens. But I was NOT able to get to the threshold with organic greens. I was also NOT able to get to the threshold with steamed non-organic greens. So the smoothies won out for me. I do let it sit on my tongue for a bit. I’ll keep a pitcher of smoothie in the fridge instead of cooked greens. I am also getting fluoride filters for my Berkey water filter. Hopefully that helps even more. I bought Berkeley NO strips online.

I purchased the NO strips. The strips indicate that my baseline NO is ‘very low’. It didn’t matter whether I cooked my greens with balsamic vinegar, ate them in a salad, or if I blended them in a smoothie. My NO just elevated slightly to ‘low’ or in between ‘very low’ and ‘low’. I also experimented with exercise. That also did not bring it up from very low. I am 57 years old. I am going to purchase some NO supplements and see if that helps.

Always think "beneficial compared to what". In other words, that diet is definitely better than the processed junk and the animals/animal secretions that most people eat, but it's not as good as whole foods vegan/no oil. The research bears this out. The Mediterranean diet still has animals, their secretions, and oil, just fewer than the SAD diet.

Sorry, but I've seen no "published study" indicating that chewing greens six times a day has proven to have any effect on future cardio health or longevity, above that received from normal consumption with meals. All I ask for is a single study with one group chewing greens six times a day and the other group simply eating their greens with a normal lunch and or dinner once or twice a day. No evidence has been put forth that it benefits cardiovascular health. Only conjecture and wishful thinking. We need science based advice.
