I remember in the hospital all the staff doing cpr on one of their own. Everyone had tears falling from their eyes as they passed medicstion and did chest compressions. He didnt make it.

As an old ED/ER doc (I count my time in decades, but won't admit how many...), I've had two situations where a colleague has been admitted with a life-threatening condition. They were awful - two of the worst days of my career. We never treat relatives or close friends and hand off to a colleague in those situations, but when we're all friends with the patient, that simply isn't possible. That means that tempers flare, emotions run high, and everyone struggles. We lost an incredible nurse to Covid-19 in 2020 & having to make the call to stop CPR will haunt me forever. Before that, the worst one was the day one of our charge nurses came in unresponsive, out of the blue. We got him back in resus, which was the best feeling. However, discovering (& having to tell him) that he had an inoperable brain tumour was... the worst. We care about all of our patients, but it hits different when it's one of our own - mainly because it's so hard to keep up the professional veneer that protects us. We deliver a lot of bad news and that veneer gives us a little space & acts as our coping mechanism. Without it, these situations are so much more difficult to deal with. We spend our lives with our team (often more hours than we get with our families), supporting them and relying on them. To suddenly be in a position where we can not give them what they need, we can't fix their problem, is soul-destroying. We're used to giving hope, not feeling helpless. It hits you like a freight train, but the hospital doesn't understand how different these cases are to our everyday patients, so they offer no support - which makes it so much harder. Junior staff struggle to know what to do, and senior staff struggle to offer support to junior colleagues whilst also dealing with their own grief. Dealing with strangers definitely gets easier in this job. Dealing with ill colleagues definitely does not.

the more you love a character, the more you want them to suffer. trust me, the internet has tonnes of fanfictions where people put their fave characters through hell. TONNES!

@@dreamergal57 you're right. People connect with characters and sort of project their own pain into their favourites. At least it's like that for me. More pain I feel more sufferings my characters endure. Same with happy feelings lol

You'll be surprised how many people believe that they are in a simulation. I came across a video about a type of synesthesia where the person (only 1 person is confirmed to have this) sees the world like a stop motion film and the nut jobs in the comment section thinks it's a proof that this world is a simulation and majority of humans are NPCs of some sort. lol

@@blissbaird2361 ...you do realise combat experience means,as he said, he spent a career treating gunshot wounds. Not to say Halstead doesn't know, but I'll take the advice of the seasoned combat vet with a medical degree than the doctor from Chicago who has never left the city.

It is like that in real life. 2 months ago a patient shot a doctor in the chest 12 times because his old mother died after a risky surgery. The doctor was the father of 2 girls and did not survived.

Then all of them should not work on Ethan. Dean has a close relationship with Ethan. Will would have been the last person I would have wanted near Ethan. Dean made a very valid point about Will's animosity against Ethan since Ethan became chief was well known. Had something gone wrong if Will had taken over, what was the 1st thing that would have been said. At the end of the day, if Dean had not step in and made the decision he did, and went along with April and Will, the outcome most likely would have been different for Ethan. Also April was very professional and they were not together at the time. Didn't Dr Marcel operate on Natalie's mom when he was dating Natalie? I didn't hear anyone talk about that

I think the issue is that if we stopped every Dr "What I think is right and I don't care what anyone says", we'd have to stop like... half the doctors in this fictional hospital. Halstead has a bad track record of being exactly like that too.

Mr what-I-think-is-right-and-I-don't-care-what-anyone-says made the right call tho, had the call been left to only the nurse and dr halstead, Dr Choi could've died.

Because they as adults don't take tension into treatment. If he didn't want to be involved in the first place they wouldn't force him but when he partakes he clearly wants to save the life. Plus he's literally the most qualified

@@Ebunoluwa13 Wouldn't Sam be the most qualified? Sam did agree with him but the surgery would be Sam's surgery and Archer was often getting in the way and challenging him during it. I am surprised he wasn't given the boot at some point during the process as just an uncooperative cog.

@@candice6651 Eh tbh I'm just taking a guess but it seems really bad that a medic would be holding a gun on hospital grounds after another doctor had been shot.

She kicked it out of his reach, which is exactly what a person should do unless they're trained and licensed to handle a firearm.
