After twenty-seven years serving students and colleagues at the reputable Wake Forest University, Dr. Boone will walk out of a classroom at Wake for the last time on April 30th, 2024.
Derrick will no doubt continue to educate, inspire and empower folks, just as he has in and out of the classroom for so long.
He learned how to fly planes and many other skills, and sacrificed greatly serving all of us as a Naval Captain - even during his professorship while in the reserves.
And he has volunteered as the President of the Board at Forsyth Academy Charter School, and volunteers helping others regularly through his church and his local Kappa alumni chapter.
From helping friends and family, to all of the above, may we reach out to Derrick and show thanks, and give a huge congratulations to his upcoming retirement from Wake Forest University's prestigious School of Business.
Derrick has so many varied skills and interests - sending health and love as he continues to do all the things that light him up... as much as any room that he is in.
