The first tablet colonoscopy preparation to receive approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in over 10 years is now available in the United States.
SUTAB is a sulfate-based tablet colonoscopy preparation that is taken orally in a split-dose administration starting the evening before a colonoscopy. According to its maker, Sebela Pharmaceuticals, the tablets offer a safe and effective alternative to liquid colonoscopy preparations.

I’m 2 hours post taking the first round of 12. Pro tip, I took some CBD oil with the first round. It works really well for me to keep cramps down and nausea at bay. Zero nausea. Just REALLY hungry from not eating. It’s definitely working. Just clear liquid movements now. Staying hydrated and not looking forward to the second round tomorrow morning…

So are you gastro docs getting a kickback prescribing this poison? It was my 3rd prep and it made me violently ill and I still feel bad after 2 days. This needs to be removed from the market.

Has anyone replaced the water needed to be consumed with other clear liquids such as coconut water, broth or apple juice? I am trying to get creative with a dementia patient to consume all the 48 oz of liquid required after each dose. Every post talks about consuming water.

Husband has Parkinsons with severe constipation (hospitalized 4x this year). Just had a failed prep (miralax/ducolax) 2 weeks ago. Any reason Sutab would not be an option? He's 72 and refusing another liquid prep. He usually has a bm once a month with lots of help, rx and otc.

I just DO NOT understand why a smaller person who is a light eater, daily, gets the exact same prep as a bigger person who eats much larger amounts daily. Please can someone explain. It seems unsafe, unreasonable, and unnecessary. Is there an answer?

I agree! I'm not super skinny for say but I eat very light and have very regular bowel movements.

I have had part of my colon removed and I still have to do the full prep. I've asked the same question you're asking and they all say the same thing - there is no way to guarantee that a lesser amount of prep will clean you out enough. Imagine if you took less of the prep (which is never pleasant obviously) and then you get to your test and it wasn't enough. Now you will have to have it redone and you are not going to be happy. I still don't like that answer, but I've learned to live with it, knowing I do not want to risk needing a second test 😳

As a small woman, I have exactly the same question. 😢
@annt7384
@annt7384 Год назад
Definitely ask your doctor, especially if you have questions about the safety of the medicine in the prep. The very last thing you want to have happen is not having your colon completely cleared out by the time of your colonoscopy. It’s not an exact science. I also have no idea if especially big people are told to drink more prep, either. I have to do a colonoscopy every year. It’s important to stay hydrated so I drink as much water as I can.

I know. I'm tiny. About to do this. And I already know the amount of pills and water will make me sick to my stomach. But there really isn't much choice. Just bummed out about it. 😢

What if your medical institution is against tablet prep? The nurse I talked to when scheduling my next colonoscopy told me how awful it is and that my kidneys would fail, etc. I don't understand their reluctance to allow me to prep this way when I have a history of throwing up the other liquids. I even threw up just watching my husband drinking his prep. What should I do to talk them into it?
@julesreinhart

Unfortunately after taking the 1st round of 12 pills with the 16 ounces of water and then another 16 ounces, I threw up most of the contents of my stomach. I never had any bowel movements until the next day. I’m still having issues. So very disappointed that this did not work. Perhaps 12 pills is too much for someone who weighs less than 110 pounds?

PREP TIP! USE A&D OINTMENT AND SILVER DIMETHICONE SKIN WIPES AT START OF PREP Before your skin breaks down from the diarrhea. The idea is to prevent skin breakdown and sores that can be very painful when you “poop” or pee during the prep.

I misunderstood my instructions and ate a small bowl of cereal at 5 am because I previously had done this with the miralax prep years ago. Now I'm reading where you basically can't even have breakfast which is pretty rough. Also I read where people have been very nauseous and throwing up even on this pill prep regimen. I am very anxious. My procedure is tomorrow at 8:45 am.

I did my prep with the nasty medicine on Tuesday. I only had to do 64 ounces with four pills. I used to have to do what seemed like a gallon and I always got sick near the end. Not this time. I still felt like I went to the bathroom 30-40 times (tmi). I had my procedure with propofol yesterday. Thank goodness all was well. I was only there about an hour or so. Today is Thursday and I feel back to normal. As always, prep is the worst part about it.

decades ago I did colon prep drinking sodium citrate the day before and lastly castor oil. Didn't have to drink all those volumes of liquid. What's wrong with using that older technique? As time goes on this process just keeps getting worse on patients. It's miserable. I'm going to dig up that old procedure and use it instead.

HI, I just heard about this. I have used Suprep and it never really did anything . It sat in my stomach , With this can you drink gingerale or lemon lime gatorade instead of water ? Can you have broth and black coffee as well, popsycles ? Sorry to ask so many questions but I want to do this. I did a cologuard test in Sept and it was fine. I am 64 and want the real thing. Thank you.

I was able to swallow all 12 tabs and drink that 16oz of water together with it. Good that i was able to tolerate it. But I don’t recommend doing all at the same time if you’re not used to take lots of pills; but rather space out tablets the way you can tolerate it within the given 20 minutes as instructed.

@sel7666 2 года назад
@@kathyrojas357 Hi Kathy...for me, it was super easy. No vomiting, no nausea, and it started to take effect about 45 minutes after taking my first pill. I hate taking pills, but if you take a sip of water with the pill versus filling your mouth with water (like I used to do), it makes it much easier to swallow, for some strange reason... for me, anyway. Although the pills are much easier to take than drinking a gallon of that colyte stuff, the pills didn't "clean me out" as well as the liquid prep does. I was still able to have the procedure done, though. Good luck!
