Anyone debating if Trump or Biden is better at this point is not looking at the situation like this, and can't be convinced of this, because they don't see the threat which is Trump. Everyone pushing Biden to continue is failing to put themselves in the shoes of the swing voter. Many of us would rather vote for a corpse than Trump, but most of our votes don't really matter right now, especially mine in California where Biden could be dead and he will still win.

Trump has a model which all his representatives use. When you're ask a question throw out as much verbiage as you can as fast as you can. Don't give a care about truth. I traveled to China for a few weeks in my mid sixties. When I returned, for at least 10 days, I would hit a wall in the early evening after which I felt like I’d had a few drinks too many.
I spent 9 days in Portugal last year and returned feeling very ill. It lasted for almost a month. Trump rolls around in a golf cart and when he is on the campaign trail he talks totally idiotic crap. Nothing of substance ever comes out of that man's mouth.
The adrenaline of the debate would wake you up though. I have been doing long haul four times a year for eight years and crossed eigh time zones each time . First 24 hours you can’t fight it but after that you can be normal when you need to show up, especially if you nap beforehand. 12 days out you are basically over it. I am 72.

One thing we DO know...is that the "debate" was held at bedtime for those living in the Eastern time zone. No official functions of government should be held that late at night...except in emergency situations. For instance, the late night House session last month was ridiculous and devolved into disorder.

Im trying to give Biden the benefit of the doubt. I’ve been quite sick and I’ve noticed it gets a lot worse in the evening. As a keen observer of American politics from Nigeria I think both candidates are not idle for the most powerful job in the world. I think Biden should do the right thing and step down. Biden’s performance in the first debate showed difficulty with his speech which was slow and lacked appropriate volume. In contrast Biden’s cognitive skills and language skills were not diminished. As a speech and language pathologist I would say he won the debate on the basis of his answers which reflected knowledge and truthfulness.
The then governor of NY claimed to have discussed such a strategy with Fauci, but now that Fauci's e-mails are public, no record of such a conversation exists. And in fact, a review of the CDC guidance in place at the time then Governor Cuomo rolled out _his_ policy shows that it was not aligned with CDC guidance. The CDC's guidance was to discharge COVID patients to long-term care facilities only when they were ready (i.e., sufficiently recovered), and only to long-term care facilities equipped to care for recovering COVID patients by implementing the necessary infection control procedures. That is a far cry from saying that "covid [sic] patients should be sent to nursing homes."

It’s not just a 90 minute clip. Biden’s been stumbling along for quite some time, both mentally and physically. Quit denying his loss of cognitive ability and do him the favor of acknowledging his decline so that he can recognize it himself and retire while he still can have some quality of life. People keep talking about his record and (former) abilities, but that is irrelevant to his current state of health.
