When you take your dog to the vet, the first question they ask is, "What are you feeding him?" Has a human doctor ever asked you, "What are you eating?" No, of course not.
My sister is obsessed with veganism; she put her 5 yr old, very healthy dog on a vegan diet, and he died from neurological problems (+ malnutrition) 2 years later. She would not listen to her vet or myself that told her to please feed him some meat. 😢
My mother died of Lewy Body Dementia, my father is in an Alzheimer’s ward at a nursing home and that has led me from Keto to Carnivore. I am doing well, cognitive function is greatly improved. My daily crossword takes half the time it used to. I want to share the interesting thing that has happened since the new Covid rules have come into effect. My father was deep into his disease, he no longer spoke, he stopped playing his harmonica, he was disappearing. My dear and well meaning sisters would bring my dad “treats” when they visited. They love to bake and made sure he always had something to snack on including cases of Pepsi. When the nursing home went into lockdown they were no longer able to bring anything in when they visited. Something amazing happened, he started to talk again, he started playing his harmonica again and was very engaged when they visited him. I suggested the change in diet may be the reason for his improvements but of course they would hear none of this. I am hoping that there are studies being done in Alzheimer’s wards that will one day change people’s thinking.
I switched from strict Keto to "Zero Carb" Carnivore 40 months sgo. I will Never go back to eating plants. Avoilding carbs is nearly impossible since Liver and Fish have carbohydrates.
Yeah. If only I'd have learned of this stuff earlier even though I wasn't carnivore before. My grandfather had dementia and died about 3 years ago after about a 7 year battle with it. No one would change his diet to the day he died.. they(doctors and family) all denied it had anything to do with diet. Then my grandmother got it--the same exact variant of dementia per the doctor and they say "Oh wow! How could they have the same thing if this is genetic?" Cause it WASN'T! And she didn't change her diet either til the day she died. Pepsi and crappy food til the end. I get the balance---I likely won't be carnivore my entire life unless I have to be.. because I only get one body and one life I will eat things I enjoy a bit in time as long as they aren't causing inflammation.
I WAS DEPRESSED AND HAD SUICIDAL THOUGHTS EVERYDAY FOR OVER A YEAR AND NOW THOSE THOUGHTS NEVER COME TO MY MIND EVER! AFTER SIMPLY GOING ON THE KETOGENIC DIET!!
"I WAS DEPRESSED AND HAD SUICIDAL THOUGHTS EVERYDAY FOR OVER A YEAR AND NOW THOSE THOUGHTS NEVER COME TO MY MIND EVER! AFTER SIMPLY GOING ON THE KETOGENIC DIET!!" So, you were depressed before you started paying for others to kill animals and disguise them and process them for you to swallow. Eating blueberries caused your depression?
I teared up at around the 45-50 minute mark to hear you speak kindly about vegans. A few other physicians who promote the carnivore diet are sometimes snarky and sarcastic. As a recovering vegan myself, what’s keeping me here on this channel is Dr. Berry’s kindness and the kindness of his guests. It’s much easier to learn new information when ridicule is absent from the teaching process. Thank you, Dr. Berry.
@Dharma Dreams Yes, very well said about how the absence of ridicule helps people learn much better. Blessings to you in the name of the Holy Trinity 🥰 (The three hearts represent the Divine Love of the Trinity)
I'm watching this very late but I wanted to point out that there are so many mental/behavioral issues in children that are being caused by a bad diet, artificial colors and flavors, seed oils, and carbs. It's no wonder we have an epidemic of ADD, ADHD, and other behavioral issues in kids and teens.
I worked in an elementary school and the junk they feed kids, then expect them to concentrate and sit still, it’s disgusting. Low fat milk, bananas, breakfast “ cookies” bagels, low fat cream cheese, honey buns 🙄
Absolutely!!!! Had I known 10 yrs ago what I know now, I would have started my son on this woe! Anxiety, ADD and depression. My husband died when he was just 7....and it was hard on both of us! He's now 23 and still coping. I started ketovore a yr ago and cannot believe what a difference in my physical health but also in MY mental health. If I had started this when he was an adolescent I could have handled his issues much calmer and also started him on thos diet.
Age 70. Lifelong low grade depression and anxiety have resolved in only 6 months eating 99 per cent carnivore. Decades long fibromyalgia is improving after getting off oxalates.
@@tacpac8042 I'm not carnivore but there's an animal food for every micronutrient. The main reason people don't think so is that we've been so heavily conditioned to eat just muscle meats, and lean ones in particular. Those are deficient in all kinds of micros obviously.
Mr Marco: I was potassium deficient whilst trying to eat what is considered a normal diet. After life long problems with plant based foods (what I was able to eat was strictly limited) 4 months ago finally decided to cut it all out, with the exception of coffee. The difference in my digestion and other aspects of my health and life, is unbelievable. As I have always had a problem absorbing nutrients I will continue to supplement for a while, but hope to be able to stop in the foreseeable future.
@@thefisherking78 I tend to agree, and I am a carnivore eater; nose to tail carnivore to be specific. This means, when I purchase a grass fed, ethical raised animal, I literally attempt to consume as much of that animal as I possibly can. I personally feel that there are nutrients in all those animal parts that we need, that culturally we just don't eat anymore. So of course I eat the muscle flesh, but also organs, bones, ligaments, eyes, tongue, spinal cord....etc. I have yet to develop a nutritional deficiency, or have any issues with magnesium or potassium.
I love the old saying, I am a secondary vegetarian, cows eat grass and I eat cows. I really believe this is more than just a joke it's a good way to live.
"I love the old saying, I am a secondary vegetarian" You are an omniconfused feral primate. ", cows eat grass and I eat cows" You have never eaten an unprocessed cow and you never will. You are a techno-scavenger who pays others to do your dirty work.. "I really believe this is more than just a joke it's a good way to live." It's a way to die and meat has killed more people than all the wars combined. Unprocessed cow flesh is a Group 2 carcinogen according to the World Health Organization.
@Chris Branciere You are missed-steaken! Your comment is typical rambling and babbling of a religiously driven vegan following a philosophy unrooted in reality. You can obviously eat as you wish ,and so can I too! My beef with vegans is their preachy zealot invasion of public policies and dietary advise ! Again eat as you wish ! DO NOT IMPOSE YOUR BELIEFS UPON OTHERS! THAT IS A FIGHT YOU AND YOUR ILK WILL LOSE !
Thank you doctors, thank you, thank you, thank you! I have been clinically depressed for 25 years and have had anxiety for probably about that long too. Less than 4 weeks into Carnivore, and I feel like some weight has been lifted and some light is shining in. It may be about 25-50% better, but that amount feels BLISSFUL! I can not wait for continued improvement, this is such a gift! And I didn't even know that this could be accomplished through Carnivore. I just started feeling better one day and started to look into why. Surprise! I am so profoundly grateful. Thank you to you both for your mission. You. Change. Lives.
@@garysimone4977 I've been low carb for the majority of last year, I only just recently started carnivore (just over a week). so far so good! How about yourself?
I heart Dr. Berg. He is the first one who opened my eyes to keto and so many other things. Love his videos, his kindness and desire to help others. Thank goodness for the internet and these videos cause regular doctors are still stuck in the 60s when it comes to people's health. They can take care of certain acute illnesses well, and that's it!
Dr. Berg is really new on the keto bandwagon. He resisted accepting promoting very low carbs for at least two years, perhaps longer. His resistance to high fat, moderate protein, very low carb, is why I unsubscribed from his RU-vid channel.
I wish I knew this 18 years ago when my vegetarian/vegan girlfriend committed suicide after a monumental battle with depression. She loved meat, but her milieu had convinced her that eating more vegetables, especially tofu, was the key to cure her mental health struggle. It was the most pain I’ve ever experienced by far. Nothing has since come close.
That’s so sad. I bought into it too but from the yoga crowd convinced me and I became horribly depressed. Happiest I’ve been in years after 3 weeks carnivore.
I was a vegetarian for most of my life. I had two babies and breast fed them as a vegetarian. After having my children and being diagnosed with celiac disease I was advised by a nutritionist that I needed meat. I started with chicken and fish and in 2012 I added beef. I now eat an animal based diet. I am so grateful I was able to have two healthy babies and both are quite healthy and smart. I feel so bad that I deprived my kids of the most essential nutrients when I was pregnant and breast feeding. Ugh. At the time I had been brainwashed to believe being a vegetarian was the healthy way to go. I have also seen my kids health only improve with more meat in our diet. Now I just want to give them as much animal protein as possible.
Dr Georgia is AMAAAAAAAZING. I listen to so many psychologists and doctors on mental health and no one has so convincingly educated me on how important my diet is. She is wonderful and compassionate. God bless you Dr Georgia.
Keto definitely helps with depression, and multiple sclerosis symptoms. Lost 100 lbs in 14 months. Decided to let myself eat what I wanted for a few weeks. Gained 10 lbs and depression got horrible. My hands arthritis, is almost painless in ketosis. I’m a believer in keto.
My osteoarthritis in my one thumb had been bad, but ALL the swelling went OUT of it! From a golf ball.size to smaller than a marble!!! Wow!!! That left bone on bone and I sort of wish I DID have the inflammation back!! Lol!! I DID end up having the joint replaced and what PAINFUL SURGERYYYY!!! WOW!¡!! But I truly needed it. I couldn't do my swimming 3X a week I enjoyed anymore nor could I open a simple bottle of water. I still can't but I'm still recovering from the surgery and it takes a longggg time as I had it done right before the virus hit here!!! Whew!!!
"Keto definitely helps with depression" Citation needed. "Lost 100 lbs in 14 months" You gave up blueberries and lettuce and replaced it with cow flesh and lost 14 pounds? "Decided to let myself eat what I wanted for a few weeks. Gained 10 lbs and depression got horrible" Great, you ate cupcakes and cola... What does that prove? "I’m a believer in keto." You're profoundly confused and oblivious.
Whilst I don't admit to ever having depression, the most I admitted to was humans were supposed to experience a variety of moods and we too readily resort to drugs to avoid life, I was blown away with how happy and stable my moods were when I went Keto. I cannot overstate the difference to my feeling of well being with Keto.
I eat grass fed lamb, high omega 3 eggs and my own recipe for sauerkraut, and wild caught sardines and salmon. I also eat lamb that is already full of bacteria without any stomach issues. Also, when I was 38 people thought I was in my 50s. Now I’m 55 and people think I’m 30 something. Through a high fat diet with long fasting, I’ve lost enough belly fat, you can see my six pack. My wife loves it!
I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2 quick cycling over 20 years ago. My real mental health struggles really began when I switched to a vegetarian diet. I was on some powerful mood stabilizers and antidepressants. I gained over 100 pounds the first year. I eventually got up to over 400 pounds. Eventually the psych meds manifested serious side effects on top of the morbid obesity. I was switched to different medications and the side effects were subsided. I switched to a ketogenic diet and it helped mentally and physically. I switched to a high fat carnivore lifestyle and two months ago. I felt so good that I forgot to refill some of my psych meds. I found that some of them I no longer need. I also have gone from being in a wheelchair and using crutches to being able to walk around the house and able to walk farther distances using my all terrain walker. Yesterday I went for over a mile hike. I now walk 3+ miles a week now. I have bone on bone osteoarthritis in my knees, and need bilateral knee replacement surgery. But my inflammation and pain has been greatly reduced. There is no way now that I would return to the SAD or other diet lifestyle, I am now 100% committed carnivore. BTW I am currently down to 236 pounds. Thank you for the education that you share with us via RU-vid. The knowledge learned from reading, videos and podcasts have literally changed my life in miraculous fashion.
Physician heal thyself??? I remember when I was 7 years old the officious idiot well-educated doctor told my innocent naive mother that my 10year old brothers extreme pain in his leg was nothing. I remember knowing he was wrong (and a condescending snob to my ill -educated mother), it turned out to be cancer and my brother died in extreme pain a year later. Of course no-one blames the doctor! And the doctor claims no blame! Whatever about a GP if my child had a mental illness the LAST person I’d send them for a cure is a psychiatrist!!!! So it is nice to see a self-aware psychiatrist and has decided to integrate her own learning to actually help people rather than condescend through psychiatric waffle!! Kudos to her and ongoing kudos to you dr Berry, helping us all! Well done both of you!! ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
My mother ate SAD diet - carb and sugar addiction developed type two diabetes at age 60 and dementia at 65 to 70 & heart disease and ended up passing away at 75 I’ve never had diabetes and I’m 65 and now I’m on keto way of life for the last year since I found your channel . I DO not want to die in 10 more years from these illnesses! Mental illness/ depression and diabetes has been prevalent in my family.
I so appreciate this integration of mental health and physical health. I’ve just recently stopped entirely my stress eating of Fritos and potato chips. I was pouring my Fritos into my bags of potato chips every day. I was drinking mini Coca-Cola with it. I’ve never eaten like this ever until I was no longer working and suffering from stress from this Covid madness. I just started not feeling well and my breath was I thought sulfuric. Long story short I just stopped cold turkey 4 weeks ago. I started eating chicken liver and bacon etc. I’m also starting to make my own bone broth. I already feel better and am less depressed. I’m eating eggs also. I’ll never eat that junk ever again. My best trait is I’m constantly researching to improve my psychology and physical health thus found you Dr Berry. Ty both so much. I also am a childhood trauma survivor. Ty Dr Georgia so much explaining how doing carnivore will also help me deal with my ptsd from childhood trauma. I’ve done years of recovery in this area but no one ever addressed my diet. I cannot thank you enough.
I never put 2 + 2 together until watching this video today. For the past 20 years, my life has been one tragedy after another (death of multiple loved ones, family tragedies, and my own near-death experience - twice!) and I could never drag myself out of the deep depression I knew I was suffering from. Hence, I didn't care about myself or take care of myself and I am now 65 pounds overweight. I've been eating Keto for the past 6 weeks (down 17 pounds) and I realized this week that I am not only feeling better physically, but I'm feeling so much more calm and happy again. I just never connected my mental health with my eating habits. Great video! Thank you.
Yeah cause your ego filters out hundred thousands of doctors who tell anything other then meat is good. That's why they are your favorite "no nonsense" doctors, eventhough he on a 2 minute rant making a baseless health claim as to why we should eat meat (saying we should eat it because our ancestors did, while if you look even further back in time, the majority of our existance we couldn't even have eaten meat since we only started controlling fire about 2 million years ago, and there is no way an herbivore can eat raw meat for long periods of time, just like us, we will get sick because our stomach acid is too weak for one, and a whole list of other reasons as to why this is not a realistic option to survive).
Loved “medicine is a tool but the most powerful tool of all is what you eat and what you don’t eat”. Thanks, Dr. Berry! We get so side tracked in our busy lives focusing and obsessing over minor tools that we become negligent if we don’t do our research.
Within 6 weeks of eating Keto I felt that I didn't need those depression pills anymore. Now I take very little insulin once or twice a day, A1C at 5.1%. Not 6 times a day as I used to take before keto I was mostly a vegetarian I used to eat around 150-180g I have always counted my carbs because I'm a type one diabetic but that low fat diet didn't help me. And I wasn't even having Sugar, chips or cookies, my diet was "pretty clean" breakfast a fat free turkey breasy slice with light mayo and whole wheat bread, lunch broccoli, lentils, quinoa for lunch. Dinner half plantain with margarine. Horrible!! Thank you Dr. Berry for this interview.💕 I will translate this to my mom. She's 41 and has been taking metformin, can't never sleep over 3h continuously. She needs to try keto!🙏
Whoa. I can’t sleep for more than three hours either. Right now I’m on intermittent fast but high in low starch vegetables . I’m changing that today to see what happens.
@@garysimone4977 had to put it on hold for surgeries. But it was going well before. Works best when I cycle through types of food restrictions and levels of exercise. I lost a bit over 50lbs in 2022.
Perfect information! It's so frustrating...I share informative videos (like this one) but get no response. So many just don't care to learn these things. It's sad! So many people I know could benefit, but just aren't willing to give up these nasty foods. Im a believer in everything you guys are saying!
Don't give up Shelly! The same thing happens to me when I share about this type of thing. I believe many people on my friends list do watch them but don't dare give a thumbs up because they are worried about what others will think. I will continue to post anyway...you never know who it might help.
Your work is important!!! I share these with family, friends, and anyone that shares with me during conversation that they are sick, want to lose weight, etc.
Listen to this! Dr Ede is phenomenal both in knowledge and as a genuine person who cares. I did her course keto diets for mental health for clinicians and what she says works. Thank you Dr Berry for the video
My daughter is working towards being a surgeon. Without knowing about keto/carnivore, told her I wish doctors knew more about nutrition. Great presentation.
This is so true. I have a child with speech problems and does a lot of speech therapy. I was a wreck before carnivore because of this. Anxious, tired, nervous maybe because of the poor sleep. Now I am no longer depressed, I sleep better and somehow this helped my child. She made some real progress in the past few months and I am thinking because I give her a more calm environment.
I was vegan for 6 1/2 years. Never again. I totally regret the damage it's done. 😭. I am now keto but mostly carnivore for a year now and will remain so . Clear the house poops 💩 hahaha... 😃. Totally agree about supplement issue. Dr. Berry looks great and healthy. Dr. Georgia for showing food is medicine 💊 . So refreshing.
I love this interview. Ever since I change my diet, my hypertension and ADHD has slow down so much. I m more cailm and focus. I don't have a thousand thoughts running through my head
I live in Austria, Europe. It is total low carb, keto (and please don´t mention carnivore!)-WASTELAND here! Thank you so much, guys (All of you who give a platform to high-quality information!)! You saved my life! Or to say it in a better way: You gave me all the information to get a high quality of life! . I never ever been so healthy! I never ever in my life I felt so good no matter if it is my mental condition or my physical. My whole life flipped around! . How? High-quality low carb, real clean keto, sometimes even phases of carnivore (I found a farmer who hast cattle which are really grass-fed, grass-finished and beautiful!). . When I read your posting about sugar I just remember that I feel like walking alone in the desert of nutrition-missinformation here in Europe. Thank you so much for your work and your effort! You make some lives better, maybe even save some lives... I wanted you to know that!
Just so you know, since you mentioned Autism! I was over a year carnivore by now. Still got diagnosed with Aspergers Autism. Apart from that, My story very similar to Dr. Geargia Ede's - what she shared about Histamine Intolerance was a true blessing to me. Oxalates were an issue. So that's why Paleo was not enough. Carnivory has put into remission Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, Digestive issues, Dry skin, Depression.. I however take a Diamine Oxydase supplement for Histamine Intolerance, and this summer was way more bearable in comparison to the last summer, where I had severe histamine intolerance symptoms due to the heat.. I also take Nootropic such as SAMe and Kava which helps tremendously with the remaining autistic anxiety, sleep problems and being more functionsl at the job and more resilient to stress..
I agreed with both of you. My life have changed in just 2 month in a kito diet and I am a firm believer I would never be where I am now if it wasn’t for Doctor Berry.
This is one of your best videos yet, Doc Berry! I've also followed Dr Eade for some time now and she's amazing. You make a great team... preachin' the truth! Thanks so much!
I love how this lady explains abuse that causes psychological problems! The Keto diet has done wonders for us! Carnivore may be better! I am considering it. Keep putting the truth out there, Dr. Berry! ❤️
1 month on a carnivore diet definitely seeing mental health improvement. I was suffering from sugar/ carb withdrawal for a few weeks - feeling good now
Rewatching this one year later! There's no way I can remember all this. I need to remind myself WHY I am doing this. I don't want my daughter to have to deal with me getting dementia and/or getting disabled in any way as I get older. I'm 57 already and trust me it feels it.
Dr Georgia Ede I applaud you for using nutrition to heal mental health issues. What are the side benefits of healthy keto/ carnivore diet as opposed to the side effect of psychiatric drugs. By the way Dr Berry your skin is glowing and Dr Georgia you are looking lovely too
I work in social care and see a lot of people with Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s. Not all are overweight but there is a strong relationship with what I can see that they are eating. Just monitoring people in hospital or asking them does not show the reality. Bread cookies etc are the staple of the people I meet, as is, constant “grazing” on carbs. I cannot tell you how strong these relationships are. We are so fanatic about keeping weight on old people we are killing them with the kindness of bad food.
I would add to the discussion the fact that so many people live with a chronic low level malaise, often for years, that they put down to the weather, or living in a rainy climate, like Wales, or their job etc., and they don‘t even realize that there’s anything wrong with their brain functioning and that they can feel happier. I was one of those people and went carnivore in early February to try and help arthritic type symptoms. I never dreamed I would feel so much calmer and better able to function mentally. Thank you both! 🙏💖
I've been low carb for only a couple weeks but I am already noticing improvements mentally. Like I'm able to communicate with people better. Usually I'm really shy and quiet but now I have no problem talking to people and keeping up a conversation. And this whole time I thought I was being healthy eating my vegetables and limiting meat, but meat was exactly what I needed. 😆
Dr Berry thank you so much for all your YT videos! They absolutely enabled me to have the courage to embark on the adventure of a keto and intermittent fasting way of life bordering on Carnivore! Ty ty ty! I started this on 7/18/21 after a month or more of research & study! Already I see a difference! God bless & keep the excellent videos coming ok? Many more peeps need them just as much as me!😇🙏✝️
So much valuable information!!! Processing it all! My husband has been complaining that he can't remember things since being on statins. We have been eating keto, exercising and losing weight since August 2019. Feeling great! Many issues disappeared and his cholesterol went down but not far enough for his physician. The info you shared explains so much! I shared your video with my Facebook friends! Thank you!!! I watch your videos send they are all very good!
Your husband’s doctor is fixating on LDL and TC. Better to look at triglycerides and HDL. You can join a private group like ‘Stopped our Statins’ for more information. (One doesn’t need to wean off them) Statin are know to increase mental confusion, brain fog, dementia (+ lots and lots of other symptoms) but statins don’t lower risk of heart attacks or strokes. Doctors listen mostly to sales reps from pharmaceutical companies and don’t read all the new literature out that completely disproves Ancel Keyes flawed and skewed study using cherry picked data.
Thank you, Drs Berry and Ede. This is such an important subject and is very timely, as well. I hope you both stay well during these uncertain times. Thanks again! :)
I just found this video, and guess what people? DIET DOES affect your mental health. I was the poster child for panic attacks. Like three to four a day....NO JOKE! I started the keto diet to get rid of my pre diabetes and soon found out a very PLEASANT side affect. I began to notice my panic attacks were growing less and less until finally they stopped! I had so many triggers it was pathetic. Now? I feel amazing. My panic attacks are gone, my sugar is within normal range, and I am within my proper weight range. I have since transitioned to carnivore and with that transition came true peace. I'm still shocked that my diet could control so much of my life.
i sure feel better all the way around on low carb and then mostly carnivore! energy, attitude, peace and sleep has improved, way less swelling and joint aches and pains, no more adult acne, way less bloating, no more constipation or hemorrhoids. I feel younger! at 64! oh yes concentration is better no more brain farts! clothes fit better, rings fit, shoes fit, stamina has greatly improved i can keep going all day like is used to at 25! really! I praise God for this WOE. not thinking about food and snacking all the time like before. satisfied! thx DOC Berry, thanks to our Great Physcian Jesus
What a smart and knowledgable woman Dr. Ede is! She has it right and everyone else needs to listen and learn from her! You are plenty smart also Dr. Berry! You are helping get the word out more than anyone else that I have found!
My grandson is 18 months, and I searched "Diets for toddlers" on RU-vid and guess what I found??? Vegan poison for children. Please let's upload videos on high fat low carb diets for children.
@@chrisbranciere2747 We've done that. It's abnormal for our modern society to be so disconnected from their food and proper care of animals. My children took part in the slaughter and butchering of our meat chickens last summer.
I have bipolar disorder too. I take my medications but still have some issues. I have been on keto for one month. So far less anxiety. My mood is neutral but too soon to really judge that as I sometimes have a neutral mood.
I have eaten carnivore less than one week. Can’t believe the difference my brain/head have responded already. I am diabetic and have neuropathy. Hope I will detect an improvement in my feet and ankles as well as blood sugar numbers. Thank you for giving your time and knowledge .
You will. I have T1D and use a fraction of insulin compared to what I would use eating the ADA diet. If on medication, you may even get off them, or at less significantly lower the dose.
I am not done listening to this, but I am greatly enjoying Dr. Ede's laughter which is so filled with gusto and she is so obviously enjoying. Thank you!
I love the smooth, consistent energy that I have on the low carb high fat keto diet. So much better than the anxious jumpiness that I felt on the high carb low fat standard American diet. Also I am now no longer pre-diabetic.
@@bobbiewood4370 just eat fatty sources of meat (the fat that comes with the meat: steak w/ fat, pork w/ fat, whole eggs, chicken w/ skin) and eat limited green, non-starchy vegetables. Also, some full fat dairy if you can tolerate it.
Eat more fats, too. Cook with butter, lard, bacon grease, olive oil, ghee, coconut oil. Some Keto experts recommend nuts, although some are higher carb than others.
WOWWWW this video with these Two doctors was amazing. I follow the Berry Gang but having Dr Ede a psychiatrist talk about the benefits of a proper human diet on mental health it's just amazing.
Joe Qualls, Keto did not help amxiety/PTSD for me but it did help with depression. I think because I felt better physically. I lost over 80 lbs., reversed diabetes, fatty liver and high blood pressure.
I am SO glad to hear someone (a leader) in the keto community address the compassion issues many of us who were (or are) vegans face when it comes to eating animal products... I do not eat mammals, and I eat happy eggs, lots of fish, and AWA (animal-welfare approved) poultry.
I understand your compassion. I am horrified by the way factory farming is done; but there are many pastured mammals that are raised with love and respect and the best of everything. God designed an order, and if we respect that order, we properly love His creation. Many people don't understand that certain ruminant animals, such as sheep, die very painful deaths if left to live to "old age." Bodies of domesticated mammals mirror wild mammals in nature, who live relatively short lives munching on their favorite foods. Domesticated pastured animals, however, are protected from predation and properly managed by the farmer, in harmony with nature. God designed us to eat the most nutritionally dense foods, which happen to be animal products. I say this NOT trying to change your diet, but to educate.
thank you very much for taking the time to explain these things. it was nice to hear a talk, that was not a lecture I appreciate your common sense approach. without the judgment.
I will share what helped me. I started by just counting carbs. All during this whole process I watched a lot of RU-vid videos on the low carb subject, including how to cook low carb. Week 1) Just count carbs and learn net carbs. Week 2) Set a daily goal of 140 net grams per day and try to stick with it. Week 3) Subtract 20 grams from your daily goal and try to stick with that. Now every week on a given day, lower the daily goal by 20 grams until after a few weeks you are eating only 20 net grams per day of carbs. Last week) Switch to carnivore for three months. After three months carnivore, add in some low carb vegetables (if you wish), but keep the net grams below 20. In general, you might even get your potassium/sodium/magnesium electrolytes nominal to provide more benefits.
What a fantastic and informative interview. I’m going to be sharing links to this video with multiple people that I know. Thank goodness we’re finally finding some substantial Conversation about diet and it’s overall effect on our health and well-being.
It’s two years after you recorded this that I am listening but it’s still so pertinent. And so enjoyable! Dr. Berry, you had me laughing so hard when you were talking about your poop. What good points you made about back in the day how could we have survived if we were pooping so much that our stink would make us prey for the sabre tooth!! 🤣🤣
Wow, this is so interesting. I just started this diet two and a half months ago. Before this diet I was constipated and also had hemorrhoids, both are gone now. I am glad you cleared it up as to whether it is OK to only have a bowel movement every other day. I am a lot less depressed now and am OK now, probably near to being normal. I believe I will get even better in time, but this isn't bad. I couldn't cry so easy before even though I really needed to at times, but yesterday I was listening to a song by Neal Dimond called Play Me, and the tears started flowing, the emotions were so wonderful, tears of joy and I have even had the same wonderful experience listening to it again, I am healed! Thank you both for this video!
I have been nose to tail carnivore for over 2 years now. Lost 40 lbs and now weigh 180lbs, sinus infections and seasonal allergies have disappeared, better stamina, dental health, libido, skin, sleep apnea is gone, and haven't had a recurrence of pneumonia for 2 years(last one landed me in ICU, and I almost died), better quality sleep. I could go on into more subtle effects, but they likely aren't much different than anyone else's improvements. All I know is I'm not going back.
Well.... it doesn't feel like the typical Easter Holidays however I have made a solid decision to fast for the next 5 days following up to Orthodox Easter which is next week. I haven't done more than 3 days straight, but 5 days will be a great challenge. My grandmother used to do it and she was in her early 90's when she passed. Sometimes to get people to not roll their eyes at Keto and Carnivore, I just tell them, my grandmother had a small farm, she ate her animals, traded her meat for raw dairy milk, made her own cheese, and ate whatever vegetables she grew. My granny didn't know what pasta was, nor rice. In 1988 I gave her a packet of potato crisps and she didn't know what they were! She was more surprised at the packaged food that people ate in cities. When my dad got really ill and passed away last year, I fell into the eating carbs and sugars. I can honestly say I got ADDICTED, and even now 10 months later I am just getting back on track because firstly I am very sensitive to a lot of foods & I made a mental decision to get back to feeling fabulous and energetic that only a Keto/Carnivore way of lifestyle suits me perfectly. I don't bother telling people what I eat, I just ensure that I don't eat out as much as we used to. In now take the time and really enjoy firing up the char griller and wood fired oven, and I enjoy making my own food.
Love this interview. Like what she said about how things in our lives may not be ideal such as our relationship but how we cope with it is better eating a Carnivore diet
Dr. Ede is my hero. She is the one who got me to finally see that, not only are plants not necessary, they can be actively harmful to us. It was her Ancestral Health Symposium presentation called "Little Shop of Horrors" that opened my eyes.
I’ve tried at least 10 depression meds over the years! I think they are total fraud never helped one bit , in fact made me more depressed !!!! I’m changing my diet , eating only real foods , meat , eggs , low carbs ( my trygicerides were at 500) feeling soooo much better as depression disappears ! Thank you Dr Berry - love your videos and binge watching all of them
Regarding carbohydrates, it is important to separate the negative issue from carbs into different categories. Some people (like me) have sensitivities (allergic like responses like headache and joint and sinus inflammation) from certain carbs like wheat, corn, oats and beans. Others have a problem with high GI carbs causing large blood sugar fluctuations over the course of the day. A third is the problem of high fructose which leads to downstream inflammation and insulin resistance and glycosylation damage. A fourth is hunger management/glucose overload on a hypercaloric diet. I have sensitivities to antinutrients in wheat, corn, oats, legumes and milk (probably both the lactose and the polypeptides). They wreck my sleep and concentration and cause mucous production, and asthma-like responses, wheezing, sleep apnea. I can absolutely eat rice and potatoes as long as I am active and not overeating total calories. Eating high GI carbs without being active means that I get a big insulin surge and end up with low blood sugar and hungry, but if I eat them and go for a 30 minute fast walk or lift weights, they get used with less insulin. Also I have to keep fructose low. I will have up to 2-3 servings of fruit a day max and no sugary drinks.
Im just curious...why aren't you all being taught more about nutrition, since it's the foundation of good health? I just heard this same thing from my gynecologist as well - she said, they get tiny amount of training regarding hormones (whaaat???). I mean this with the utmost respect, but it seems like med students are taught to prescribe meds mainly... or at least that's the drs I've dealt with unfortunately. You two are not the norm... thank you both for thinking outside of the box & for seeking answers for health & longevity & helping us!!
I was on a vegetarian diet which I trived on and I was asked to do carnivore to see how it would affect my borderline personality disorder and I have to say, so far so good.
@@5thElement347 I feel great to be honest, I have Borderline Personality Disorder and for years I've been trying to manage my emotions and without a doubt this diet has helped the most. I'm back eating plants as for me I need them but I'm eating in a way now that I'm coping better than I ever did plus I've not eating sweets since May so that's a huge bonus.
Fantastic video packed full of useful info. Seen first time 4/27/22. However, extremely valuable to me personally thanks the both of you Dr Berry, and Dr Ede. 🏆👍
