I got my first album of their in about 1970 and loved it end to end, and the next ones, until after bankrupt, kinda uuuuh, I like their early stuff best.
What a talented, warm, non pretentious artist he is. I loved them back in the 70s and early 80s and just rediscovered their songs. A trip down memory lane.

my mother introduced me to Dr. Hook as a child, "Freakin' at the Freaker's Ball" was the song we would always sing in the car. I still enjoy listening to them and brings me back to all those wonderful times
He still has that distinct voice. I would love to watch him live today! It would be worth every penny! Thank you Dennis for all the great songs and memories
+LesSmith45 Just had that pleasure of seeing him live, still sounds good, although I preferred the concerts back in the day when all the characters of the band were there.
I'm an Aussie, my 70's childhood right there!!, Best songs huh!!, I can't thank you guys enough for the fantastic music and now my kids know you too!!!, They have to listen to me singing along, yes, I probably have a lot to answer for 😂😂😂😂
Joe Hearn Hi. Is that last bit a euphemism buddy ?? Ha ! Just teasing mate. They do not make ‘em like that anymore - mores the pity. RIP to the missing boys. All the love. ❌⚓️❌
That must be real cool. He must have been awe inspiring to watch perform. He seemed to be so animated... is he still alive? Was he equal to, or more important to the band than the lead singer?
@@ThomasPBlack he and the man with the eye patch (recently passed r.i.p.) did the majority of the singing songs youd recognize. They had a broader spectrum than most bands. Im pretty sure they all sang backup though. Great harmonies.
Dennis is amazing! Saw him almost 10 years ago, just him and the acoustic guitar and he blew me away! A true Living Legend and we need more artists like him. Real music and a Real Talent. Simply beautiful. His own material is music you can listen to and relax and feel truly good. Love you Dennis.
Hey I heard Silva's mother for the first time in my brother's 65 fast back mustang in 1972 or 73. My brother died young but the song always takes me back to good times. Love the group.

Magic is the word.his voice transports me back to happy times and sad but he will always be my favourite artist...saw him twice 3 years ago..hope to again. Never tire of watching and listening to him.
When I see these songs being played I get blown away with emotion ! so much runs through my mind so fast! First I smile and remember how much I adored these songs and how much joy they brought to me as a young kid in a poverish home with no money! These song made me happy in an unhappy place ! It flooded me with memories of young love ,good times with friends of a simpler time! Then I realize my favorite artists are passing away , these times are long gone and youth is way behind us! and I’m filled with grief! Time is running out and this music will never return! Then sadness sets in and a sense of gloom! Sort of a felling of un contentment! Then I shake it off and Back to the grind of work ,raising kids and on to another day! Jan 8 2019. R. I. P Ray. Thank you so much Dr. Hook
OMG I grew up on this music, soon as I hear this group, takes me back to many situations and memories in my life. So many emotions and thoughts and generally happy feelings, Thanks Dennis your voice is awesome. RIP Ray and thank you.
What an absolute legend of a man, and a legendary group in Dr.Hook. A great talent and a lovely guy. Sexy eyes is one of my favourite songs of all time, it's exactly why music such as this lives on and on.
I saw them in Nashville at least a dozen times they were a great band and then Dennis was on his own for a while and I saw him also in Nashville and got a nice picture and I still have it of us together after the show and that was about 15 years ago.

ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qZMUx2CfpXI.html That's a RU-vid link to the real story behind the song Sylvia's Mother by Shel Silverstein. Pretty neat.
I'm 58 yo. I first started listening to Dr. Hook, when I was in the 5th grade. That's when 'Cover of the Rollin Stone' came out. I have loved everything they've done, ever since. When I listen to their music, I suddenly don't know that I'm 58 anymore. That's some powerful mojo!!! Thanks Alot!!! For all the years of fun, and meaningful, music!! I Love all of you guys!!!
I was a 70's kid. 52 today (2019), & STILL love the music of Dr Hook. Saddened to hear we've lost some of them. Great Music all these year's later. TIMELESS indeed!!!!!

Hahaha, true! My Grandmother has told me since I was a child, I have an "old soul" :) I found this man through my love for Shel Silverstein, one song from Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show...I was sold!
Erika, But what would "Erika's mother" think about that? Remember "Sylvia's mother" didn't like him. LOL The music from the decade of the 70's was the best ever. No other decade comes close. It was a great time to grow up. I spent my junior high school, high school, and college years in those 10 years.

I'm glad he mentioned the famous, Shel Silverstein, who wrote several songs for them. Yes, THAT Shel Silverstein. It was Silverstein who loved Sylvia, BTW.
Saw Dr. Hook in Milwaukee as a 19 year old with 4 of my brothers and a couple of their wives. The band was great, a real fan band! We all loved them and still do. Peace in Heaven, Ray!!! Loved "Cookie and Lila!"
I'm 80 and just discovered Sylvia's Mother a couple of years back. I listen to it on RU-vid oçcassionally and just listened to it on my Alexa Echo Dot. I dearly love the song,! It's one of those songs that tugs at your heart, you can actually FEEL it! Thank you Dr Hook.
I grew up listening to them and I even went to a concert when they came to Sydney .it was at the regent theatre which is t there now.. what a time it was in the late 70’ s early 80’s . I was the baby of 5 so I didn’t get a say in what we listened to but I am so great full they chose well. Thank you dr hook love you forever xoxox

Probably the most enjoyable concerts I have ever been at, and I've been at the Stones, led Zepplin, Bob Seeger AcDc etc, but these guys were so talented and had such fun on stage that you went home wishing the concert was five hours long!
When I saw Ray on Dennis’ shoulders both acting like maniacs on stage in the 70’s, I never thought Dennis would still be alive in 2014. Good for him. Their song, “Who If Not You” was a memorable song that night in Wilkes Barre, PA.
Great to see him years on and good quick montage of their hits,,, but I felt the segment was very rushed, this is 70's music legend,, real music. Deserved more respect and more air time than the shite we are getting nowadays.
I have to stand up and clap I know all the songs I was born in 1961, and I instantly fell in Love with the main singer, he brought a smile to my face he seemed so happy he's very handsome and has a great personality their music will always have a place in my heart.lots of fun talent
GRAN GRUPO DE EL DOCTOR HOOK ME ENCANTA OIR LA MÚSICA DE TAN MARAVILLOSO GRUPO EL DE LOS AÑOS 70 Y EL ANTANTE DENIS ME FACINA GUAPÍSIMO QUE EN PAZ DESCANCE DOCTOR HOOK.MIS ORAVOONES POR SU ALMA FLORES EN SU TUMBA ..💖🌷🍁🍂🌹🍀🌵🌳🌲🍃🌺🌻🍄🌸🌿💐🌾🙌🙏
I came here for the thumbnail. I thought for a second I saw Chuck Norris with a guitar so I was wondering what kind of Kung-fu magic he was pulling off this time.
I was 17 years old when A Little Bit More was released. I was failing miserably with the girls, as I still am, but songs like this confirmed that having a girl and loving her would be magical. Glad I grew up with the music of the 60's to the 90's. What great music from great bands. Thankyou.
