When it comes to the fear of finishing last one must remember that even the last place finisher beat everyone in the world that thought about this match but didn't enter.
@BASED AMERICAN one of the things I love about the Shooting Sports and road racing motorcycles is that they are not zero some games. Second is most definitely not the first loser! The only losers are those who say that looks easy and never try!
Totally this, I keep that in mind when doing running races. When I compete I don't care if I come in last, it is done for the experience and in the case of shooting sports the whole difference in dynamics that I can't usually do in a normal range day
Dr. Jackson: ”talks about Norse mythology and language” Also Jackson: ”goes to Sweden and talks about rune stones in swedish” ALSO Jackson: ”guns guns guns with Gun Jesus”
i mean he's been telling us the whole time he loves guns by keeping it in his intro. we should've seen gun content coming one day. we all got distracted
@@EchoLog Oooooooh man, your name has given me the idea/ambition to create some kind of THC/bud infused cheese. Does such a thing exist? I'm effin' drooling just thinking about it right now. =)
the fact that so many so called geeks are getting into guns, training, tactics, etc, including large swaths of liberals, it might be people are subconsciously recognizing coming difficulties, and or possible nature is affecting this kind of behavior in some way as a response to a need for conflict and a purging of sorts. i just hope the good guys have better training than the bad guys(liberals)
@@cagneybillingsley2165 you know it could also just be that the gun guys are winning. And that a lot of misconceptions about the firearms community are being dispelled. Maybe you could help with that by being more welcoming to people.
My high-school Chem teacher was a WoW nerd as was his wife and he'd raid with students on WoW on Saturday nights. He was also made thermite as a demonstration for the class in the parking lot. Cool guy.
@Chance Furlong You still see that same passion and knowledge at play whenever he smacks someone with a lance on horseback or delivers a pollaxe shot to someone's head. Matt Easton recently uploaded a 50 minute interview of him about his latest film project as a historical consultant on a movie about Richard III, he seems to appear as an extra for the film since you can see his heraldry on the armored guy in the background.
This collab is somehow both incredibly unexpected, while not being surprising in the slightest. It was hard to predict how it would happen, but Ian and Jackson just seemed like they would get along no matter what the topic was. (also i recall Karl mentioning years ago that Jackson's old Norse videos were some of his favorites, so he was on the VERY short list of channels that are name dropped in a positive context, so not surprising)
One of my favorite YT creators sitting with one of my favorite authors. :) I have Dr. Crawford's fantastic 'The Wanderer's Havamal' three feet away from me on my bookshelf as I watch this. Worlds collide! One of us! :)
"I´m naked in front of everybody and my rifle doesn´t work". Sounds great as an intro for a Viagra commercial. Jokes aside, great video!. Greetings from Patagonia Argentina.
Holy crap 😅 I didn't know Jackson Crawford was even a shooter. I should have known. I find his channel extremely interesting...never thought I'd see him collabing with this channel though
My wife and I were watching Bloke"s Video and noticed a guy sitting on a bench in the background and we said that guy looks like Jackson Crawford :). Congratulations !
This was a really nice video, hearing you two going through and chatting about everything. And yeah, I follow you both since several years, and I wouldn't even image this collaboration could exist if someone said it. *AWESOME* 🤘 Cheers from Northern Sweden 🍻
Meanwhile the time I went to the first desert brutality was my fourth, fifth and sixth days at a range in my life. Great fun. I did go well out of my way to be safe, I didn't place great (but I didn't place last by a moderately long shot). I was in decent shape, not great, and was quite frankly very surprised to get a hit with my first shot. A dude's rifle broke and by the next stage we had him back in it with donated ammo, mags and rifle.
When I first learned Dr Crawford was a competitive practical pistol shooter I thought it would be neat if he ever showed up on a 2 gun video sometime, I never dreamed it would be a brutality match plus a sit down with Ian.
Thanks lan and Dr. Jackson. Very interesting video and thanks again for being the only RU-vid person at your high excellent level to have done something like this and pushed yourself so far us your viewers. Never thought that there would be a Norwegian Viking steam hut naked part of the competition and that a girl would run it naked. Wild. Thanks again your doing a fine job.
To be honest, usually higher stakes matches/competitions of almost any kind are much much more friendly and free of toxicity and stuff like that (at least to my knowledge). I don't shoot, I can't even own a gun in fact, but hearing both of you talk about it simply reminded me of how young unexperienced horseriders in a random town are talking smack about eachother behind their backs and making fun of them when they mess something up or do something wrong, while at international level competitions professional horseriders are all peacefully discussing strats, talking about horses, watching eachother ride, taking notes, having a laugh... whatever. It's just funny.
You do not exit a sauna after throwing water on the rocks. It is poor sauna etiquette. You must wait until the heat settles down and then you are allowed to exit.
Ian I think you were oblivious to the "nade effects" because you were running in adrenaline, and you were definitely in the fight, then flight, freeze or fidget side of it. So you weren't noticing them, because the adrenaline effect was overriding your active mind.
Two of my favourite intellects on the same bench in Finland. Parrtly surprised that it didn't collapse from the sheer gravitas, very happy about both having friendly interest in the Kinetic Delivery Sports. ❤ Some counterbalance to me today finding out that Daniel Dennett had died in april, just have to be glad these kids are young and going a few decades further.
Finland & Sweden do biathlon in the winter. This seems like a natural plus being in a tenuous boarder situation since 1940 up till right now. Interesting that you posted this. Tak så mycket!
I always wondered if Jackson carried a sidearm when shooting his videos in the mountains because of, you know, BEARS!! Turns out he does. Can't say I blame him.
I'm not subscribed to Forgotten Weapons but when Dr. Jackson Crawford broke the news he was Finnish Brutality 2022 I knew where to go to get hold of those videos.
Separated at birth and completely unaware of the other's existence, Ian and his twin, Jackson, could never have known that their shared love of esoteric knowledge and competing with firearms would one day re-unite them.....but then, what earthly power could ever have kept them apart?
So cool =) Gun Jebus and north germanic Moses running into eachother while doing Finnish brutality and then just deciding on an ad-hoc podcast discussing the match and the stages =D That's what happened in my mind, at least, but i guess it's still cool if they planned it ;)
This has to be one of the coolest and most wholesome collaborations I’ve seen in awhile. I love both these guys as I’m a gun nut and a Nordic Pagan! This is so cool! Shameless plug for Dr. Jackson Crawford; pick up his copy of the Wanderers Havamal, or his copy of the Poetic Edda. Fabulous books.
I like this video, but I think it will be more interesting some extra footage from different shooters and your personal runs. We've seen your runs, but I think it will better for people who watch the video and not strictly listen to it as a podcast. Always cool to learn what other shooters experienced during the match.
Hey Doctor Jackson!! Brit Army's been putting basic infantry recruits through Brutality style shoots for at least 40 years. Astonishingly, a little bit of pressure does a whole lotta damage to your scores. If you want to fight and win (survive, even?) the best therapy is . . . . more Brutality !!
What not can you talk about with Colorado matches? Honestly, I get that feeling every time I'm around them and just sighting in, or doing load development, in the area. I'd love to do something like 2gun or Brutality but don't have the time or funds to even make it to Arizona and if this is an actual problem here how can that be addressed because right now it just really acts as a buzzkill every time I think about signing up.
Ian is is quite interesting, Jackson quite informative (and each also gets the other's adjective) and they are working together?? Sometimes, life is good!
