Dr. Jeffrey Zeig presents "Ericksonian Psychotherapy & Hypnotherapy: The Fundamentals of the Ericksonian Approach".
Filmed at the California Southern University School of Behavioral Sciences. Visit www.calsouthern.edu/psychology/
An Ericksonian method is one that is essentially experiential, based on heuristic principles rather than algorithmic formulas. This is a phenomenological approach, individualized to the unique circumstances of the client. We will review Milton Erickson's contributions in historical context and describe essentials of the approach. The presentation will include a clinical demonstration of Ericksonian Therapy.
Learning Objectives -- Participants Who Attend This Workshop Will Be Able To:
* Describe four essentials of an Ericksonian Method
* Given a patient, indicate how to incorporate experiential methods.
Jeffrey K. Zeig, Ph.D. is the Founder and Director of the Milton H. Erickson Foundation, having studied intermittently with Dr. Erickson for more than six years. He has edited, co-edited, authored or coauthored more than 20 books on psychotherapy that appear in twelve foreign languages. Dr. Zeig is the architect of The Evolution of Psychotherapy Conferences, considered the most important conferences in the history of psychotherapy.
As a psychologist and marriage and family therapist in private practice in Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Zeig conducts workshops internationally (more than 40 countries). Specialty topics include experiential psychotherapy, hypnosis, and brief therapy with various clinical problems. Dr. Zeig speaks at major universities and teaching hospitals including the Mayo Clinic, Menningers, and MD Anderson. He is president of Zeig, Tucker & Theisen, Inc., publishers in the behavioral sciences and the Erickson Foundation Press. His current area of interest is extracting implicit codes of influence from various Arts, including movies, music, painting, poetry and fiction that can be used to empower clinical work.
This has been a presentation of the School of Behavioral Sciences at California Southern University.

Very nice utilisation of what might have been distractions during the non-induction. Always useful to hear Zeig talk about Erickson.

Thanks so much Jeff Zeig for your wonderful lecture. What a pity the video-operator was more interested in looking at people in the room rather than showing us the slides. We missed most of the slides and consequently the notes.. Maybe you can get a student to do this work next time, so they are not so apt to get distracted and bored.

A great presentation. The therapy session really brought the theory to life and I love the Autobiography in Five Chapters.

I really hate these videos and the whole vibe among the hypno folks, dont even know why even his voice gives me the creeps. I just have to educate myself to "unhypnotize" myself. Wish I didn't need this. Ugh. I'm not even half way in and the lecturer tries to equate the word "weird" with "unusual", OMG starting off weirdly manipulative already. Opps sorry UNUSUAL manipulative... Trying to speed up the speech to iron out the weird talking, but I guess its not the speed, more so the melody thats kind of off. Why is this guy so weird? BTW, hypnosis is NOT the mother of all therapies wth.
