Other than some small films & cameos in Van Helsing & The Mummy, I don't think there's been much attention for another theatrical Jekyll and Hyde adaptation since this film. Someone needs to revive this classic story.
@@jefferykeown8834 oh yeah that's right. He was in that. What I mean though is for a major theatrical adaptation of the original story. That's something we need to see.
We saw this at the drive-in the weekend it came out. It was on a twin bill with a movie called “Fright”. Bates and Beswick DO look like they could be twins!
I think he meant the whole concept of a person having a duel personality that is both male and female would make this movie more relevant today given the modern trans/LGBT movement going on
@@griffinnunnelee72361.) Trans people have always existed, 2.) This is a peculiar case that doesn't fit well with real queer people. Gender-fluid or bigender, _maybe,_ but such folk still don't shift in body.
In the original novel, Jekyll used his time as Hyde to do all the wicked things he couldn't do as himself. It's only semi-recently that movies played up Jekyll = good, Hyde = evil.
I was watching this on the late night Friday chiller last night. If he invented this formula today he would be a rich man. All kinds of LBTQ people would be lining up to get it. Lol
Real trans/fluid people are not inherently killers. They still have more to worry about from cis people than the other way around. And this guy was a killer to begin with, so...don't go wholly blaming his newfound persona on all the murdering.
Honestly a remake would certainly be interesting, but heck if I know if it would be handled well. Also: "PC"? Get with the times, girlfriend; _that_ reductive buzzword went out of style two administrations ago.
