At around 35:30, Dr Labiner says Vimpatis not used in the treatment of ESES as it’s not an anti-convulsant, that it’s used with focal epilepsies. Is it not used as a release medication or not used at all with ESES as ESES is emerging from multiple regions and therefore it’s not used in the management because it’s just not effective in these wide area type seizures? Hope I’m interpreting this correctly. Is there a research report that you can point us to to learn more about this particular issue specifically? If we were operating under an assumed focal epilepsy but upon latest EEG the new diagnosis is ESES/CSWS, would we expect to migrate off the prior regime, especially the Vimpat if it’s a misaligned medication? I’ll get clarity with our next appointment, but I’m curious of other expert opinions as it seems there may be a lack of concensus among neurologists
