As an Army Vietnam combat Vet 67&68, a warrior's experience is so emotionally hard to talk about, especially talking to KIA families when back in the world. Accolades to you, Lori, for honoring & and researching your father. God bless you. RIP, brother.

What a powerful testament to the psychological trauma caused by losing a parent in a war! In 2005, I worked in Iraq as a truck driver. We hauled supplies between bases for the military. In September of 2005, I was critically wounded during an ambush. A medic provided emergency medical care until the helicopter got me to a hospital. Without that care, I would have not made it. That medic made me think of your dad. On that attack, 3 guys were killed and 6 of us were wounded. If it weren't for the medics, the number of killed would have been much higher.

Thank you so very much for your father's story and for your courage....I regret that this countries successive generations are ignorant of the sacrifices that were made for them and their own.....I, selfishly perhaps , still hold a grudge towards this countries disrespect for it's lost men and women....HMM 265 ..USMC... Republic of Vietnam 68-69....

She`s GOT to sell this to Hollywood--this is such a different and much-needed story for all of us.....I was born in `71 and my father, born on June 30,`46,a brash and handsome young man of 19, was"lucky" enough to be put into the sub service(USS Casimir Pulaski)from `65-`69,instead of being shipped to Nam...He was everything to me and her story`s the ultimate in a love story, during such a strange time in this nation...As direct descendants to these men(and women),we`ve got to get out all of their stories and tell the world how special these people were/are,if nothing else,to spite those who spit on `em,denigrated them for doing their duty for all of us...At the end of the day,we`ll alsways know the real heroes and the real cowards during that crazy time;I just hope history will,too...........Miss and love you Dad...........Stevie

Bless you and our corpsmen. They were and are wonderful people. Being a retired Marine, I truly believe that our corpsmen were more Marine than the actual Marines. I spent time in 1968 at Ca Lu which was a fire base and supply point connected to LZ Vandergrift in I Corps along Hwy 9. This was somewhere between the Rock Pile and Khe Sahn.

One more observation. I was fortunate. One of our guys was shooting video of our attack, from his truck. Also a Predator was overhead taking video. Since I could only see things from my perspective and I had been unconscious from blood loss twice, the video and conversations with others helped me piece together what happened. I remember wanting desperately to understand what had happened. It took years to get a pretty accurate image of what actually occurred. I can relate to Lori trying to figure out what happened to her dad and how frustrating it is. At least I had the benefit of seeing some of the attack on video and talking to others who has been in the ambush.

I am so sorry you lost you Dad. And didn't get to have him growing up. He was a Hero. No great love have a man than one that will lay down his live for another. My Girlfriend and I started talking about getting married after I got out of AIT and I got to go some place she could go with me. The plans were made for us to get married. Then I found out I was going to Vietnam. So I told her I didn't want to get married because I didn't want to take the chance of leaving her a young widow or me coming home a Invalid and her having to take care of me. I was not wounded but I didn't come back the same man she married. She has stayed with me through it all. I know it has not been easy for her but she stayed. The 23rd of this will be 53 years for us. Stay safe and God bless you and yours. Dan 🇺🇸

Hello, I found a box dumped in my subdivision with pictures and notes from someone who served in the Vietnam war. I tried using FB to find the person. No success. Any other way to find the owners?
