Thank you for unpacking the Barbados hesitancy and framing it as non-irrational suspicion. I've been aware of the violent Pakistan/Afghanistan hesitancy. In fact I don't even want to call any of this "hesitancy" anymore until I can get a chance to read Dr. Nicole Charles' book.
