I felt the same, but never actually joined Greenpeace because I knew as a Christian I would not be that comfortable with the types of people I saw getting involved there. Eventually I moved to the US and was challenged to study the science of climate change for myself. Didn't take long for the few nagging doubts I'd always had lurking in the back of my mind to come to full flower and make me an ex-environmentalist.

NASA had fantastic satellite images over a twenty year period which showed no degradation in the outline over that timeline. Problem is it is nowhere to be found these days. I've been watching/listening to Patrick Moore and Tony Heller and Don Easterbrook and Dr. Happer and Dr. Linden for years: they are all correct about the fraud of "global warming ." My uneducated friends/associates' response to the "warmers" logic and arguments is always the same: "I am a life-long liberal, progressive, environmental Democrat and I believe that global warming is REAL!!!" The discussion then ceases. I then advise them to educate themselves by exploring alternative scientists and their research/public opinions, etc. At that point, they walk away angry. I now realize that the warmers aren't interested in self-education, understanding, or "the truth', only in being "right." This is a political matter and is treated like one....hard to argue religion or politics without threatening one's core beliefs.

I like common sense environmentalism, like Patrick Moore stands for. I disagree on the plastic bag ban though. There are many animals that troll garbage dumps like bears or certain cattle in India that do get really impacted in their gut from plastic and end up emaciated because the plastic fills their gut and makes them unable to digest anymore and retain nutrients. The other big thing w/ single use bags is in India because they shit everywhere, so they were using the cheap or free single use bags to crap in and then they'd bundle them and throw them in the river. This was creating blockages and of course contaminating the water and spreading disease. They formed a strick bag police, if you can believe that, that would go and aggressively enforce the single use bag ban on merchants. They would actually go and make sure the bags they used were a certain density so they wouldn't be suitable for street shitting and people would want to re-use them instead. This was an Indian documentary to get the word out and had nothing to do w climate change or tree hugger propaganda. I saw it at least 10 yrs ago or more and never forgot it.

Nobody fails to re-use plastic shopping bags. They're too useful.

But most times it really feels like the World has gone mad and the coming train wreck is all but unstoppable, that not very many people see things the way I do. Listening to people like Rex,Tony Heller, Jordan Petersen, Dennis Prager and their like provides a bit of light (though it seems ironic that we delight in hearing modern day speakers merely convey the common sense truths that our forebears took for granted!), but I fear we are very much outnumbered, and that the present generation of youth have been programmed beyond redemption. I think the preceding generation, and perhaps the one before, is responsible for progressively lowering standards in how they raised and educated their children, and so on. Remember that a lot of this "modern" thinking started with the hippies - the early boomers - who really were quite hare-brained in their philosophies, yet could be quite aggressive in foisting their opinions on others all the while pretending to be vessels of peace, setting the pattern for how the modern leftist movement operates. My wife tells me I'm wrong to despair, that once these young people get jobs and mortgages they'll abandon their leftist utopian fantasies and get busy with real life. But this generation is unlike than any that preceded it, with the powerful influence of social media & computer technology which lull the brain, and its a very different game.

@john kolar When you think about it, TV has had a disproportionate influence in shaping most young people's world view, including their notions of world history, how people behave and so on. Rather disturbing that the people who produce the content are overwhelmingly leftist in their ideologies, so hardly a balanced medium for conveying the human experience. I was thinking the other day about this idea of how in today's culture nazis have become the very embodiment of all things evil - the ultimate evil, in fact, supplanting " original sin" in people's moral psyches, whereas many young people today find communism quite attractive and virtuous (if you believe the polls). I wondered why they don't accord communists the same degree of dread as the nazis, since after all, communists have caused a lot more suffering and misery in the world than nazis. But then it occurred to me how many Hollywood movies have been made showcasing nazis and WWII-era Germans as evil warlords -sort of like sith lords in Star Wars - and how few movies exist depicting communist atrocities! How many movies about the holocaust have we seen as opposed to features on soviet citizens being whisked away to gulags in the night, or Stalinist execution squads slaughtering entire groups of political dissidents (although there was the "Killing Fields" a few years ago, and "Doctor Zhivago" long before - both anomalies, probably all but forgotten to today's youth)? With the way young people have been suckled on tv and movies, its no wonder nazis have become such powerful symbols of evil (which the left can associate with any group of "dissidents" they choose), while communists get a pass...

Anthony, it’s likely that the turtle swallowed the straw, then regurgitated it, but instead of the straw coming out of its mouth, it’s path went through the nose, but got caught in the nostril, so it remained there until the people pulled it out.

Anthony, that’s a good question. I guess it would depend on lots of factors such as the size/composition of the straw, how frequently turtles are swallowing them and the individual turtle anatomy/reactions. I doubt anyone would ever know.
