@@moist139are you sure you know who Nigel is?? he's constantly smashing things with hammers, throwing beakers on the floor, and making explosive compounds because they look cool 😂
Yeah that's definitely it. I still added an egg and veg oil to mine, and about 1/3 of a 20oz bottle of Dr. Pepper to sub for the water. It imparted a rich, decadent flavor profile to the brownies, and I got a hint of cherry every so often
Needed to add the rest of the ingredients like two eggs and the oil, and only 1/4 cup of Dr Pepper. If you want to elevate it further add in a handful of chocolate chips into the batter.
Idiots this isn't the first time this has been done...Oc is right add the oil and egg plus liquid it says on the box. If you want a healthier version you use fake eggs or some healthy oil substitute. Diet anything in baked goods Imo is trash.
You actually want some parts that aren't fully incorporated when baking brownies, they'll dissolve in the oven and can avoid having them be too dense. Same logic applies with pancakes and most other baking goods that use batter. I doubt he knew that making this though he probably just didn't care.
You need to follow the directions on the brownie box and just replace the water with the Dr pepper. But you could use Cherry Coca cola or even ginger ale if you don't really like Dr pepper. Also I would use a dark chocolate brownie mix if possible and maybe add some dark chocolate chips maybe half a cup of you want it really chocolatey 😋
seriously, like i've seen a few of these dudes who recreate viral or hack recipes, but they often do things like substitute ingredients or don't follow the directions and its like, how can you judge it, you changed it. this guy is great because he's funny and is honest about his tests.
Follow the instructions on the box. Switch the water for the fizzy drink. If they say that you have to add egg (or that it's already included), add 1 extra egg. Mix it better (you could still see the powdered mix wasn't mixed in entirely here) with a whisk instead of a fork. If the packaging comes with a baking pan sort of thing (they tend to be made with paper), pour it in there. They're made to fit the amount of batter perfectly. If you do want to stick to the metal ones instead, make sure to spray the pan with baking spray to make sure the brownie doesn't stick as much to the pan. If you're not sure if it's done baking, use a toothpick to poke the brownie once in the middle and once in an edge area. If the toothpick comes out clean or just has a bit of crumb to it, it's done baking. If it comes out with a bunch of goop or wet crumbs, it's not done baking yet. Put back in the oven for another five minutes and try again with a new toothpick. Repeat until the toothpick comes out (mostly) clean. Note: if you use a metal pan, the brownie will continue to bake a bit more after you take it out of the oven. Keep that in mind when doing the toothpick test. This isn't really relevant with a paper baking tin. Also, check how much sugar is in the fizzy drink. If you make brownies from scratch with fizzy drinks, you need to leave out some sugar to compensate for the sugar already in the drink. I'd say a teaspoon or tablespoon worth of sugar should be removed in that case, but you can experiment with it yourself as well. Hopefully these tips will be helpful for when you try this out again. Good luck with baking!
@@TheDBZ_KING7_Official they actually do, you will not get the expected results by just adding a liquid, in this case being the soda. He should have added an egg and some oil in order for it to be done correctly.
@@marianrubi9010 The eggs only act as an emulsifier for the water and oil. The only reason why eggs are listed as an ingredient on boxed baking goods is to make people feel like they are actually making something. This has been proven by a few people, most notably Adam Ragusea and, (I think) Ann Reardon. Boxed cakes and brownies already have emulsifiers added to them in factory so eggs really aren't necessary.
@@marianrubi9010yeah well tell that to the box, it literally tells you that eggs are optional. Obviously you can’t have a good cake without eggs but it’s not supposed to be good… it’s in a box for christ sake
@@Favdere Boxed cakes can be very good although following the box's steps aren't the best. You can make it better by swapping water out for milk, add extra eggs, add oil. Adam Ragusea made a good video on this watch the video on boxed cakes, it will make you rethink your opinion on boxed cakes.
Well to be fair. People do use sparkling water in baking instead of normal water sometimes, to get a better rise and more fluff. So adding flavoured sparkling water wil just add a little extra flavour.
I've never tried it with brownies bur I know it works with cake. 1 box cake mix, 1 CAN of coke (bottle will be too much), mix and bake according to box directions. Any brown cola for chocolate cake, any clear soda (sprite, 7up, ginger ale, etc) for vanilla cake. Top with store bought frosting of choice and enjoy the potluck
You’ve gotta mix your batter more throughly I saw a lot of dry clumps when you were pouring it don’t be afraid to whisk more aggressively a small mess to clean is worth a well baked snack
The best way to keep stuff from sticking, other than using precisely cut parchment paper is to rub it with vegetable shortening, then you dust it with flour or cocoa powder depending on the color of the cake. It works wonders
Still use the eggs and oil. Better yet, add an extra egg and used melted butter instead of oil for a more dense and flavorful brownie. Espresso powder is also awesome
Dr Pepper cake is a very common treat in the southern US, specifically Texas. Where I’m at, I am less than 60 miles from where it was first invented, so you can imagine the kind of Dr Pepper branding we have! Even a whole ass Dr Pepper museum! Anyways, it’s usually super rich and yummy, gooey and chocolatey. I’d give it a shot. Idk how you messed it up, though, but it’s actually hella fire.
Dr. Pepper is so good and chocolate cake is so good, but then mix together, is like eating unsweetened Cheerios with water. And trust me I have tried unsweetened Cheerios with water, it tasted like soggy wet bread.
