Ths sermon was preached at FFBC on 8/2/1984. It was a sermon well known and part of his chalk drawings. The booklett is a transcription of this sermon.
Thanks for this message, it was challenging as a good message ought to be. Just so you know, there are several places where mobile phone communications are audible, it may be coming through your recording equipment. Nevertheless I got a lot from the message, thanks for posting it. Greetings from Aus.
Thank you for taking the time to listen to this sermon and for your comments. I will be more aware of the mobile phone when recording in the future. God bless!
What a shame that most Christians today, including myself all too often, have such little regard for the inspired, preserved Book that God has given us, and for messages like this one from it. If the average Christan today were asked what is the greatest sin among God's people?. . . is it ignorance, or is it apathy, most would probably say, "I don't know, and I don't care." This may be cute, it may be funny, but it is no laughing matter. God help us!
Amen, Sir!. You’re spot on with your comment about the apathetic nature of God’s people regarding the doctrines in and about God’s words. Ignorance is the result of apathy, but it’s willful ignorance and God is not “winking” at it, but rather, he is sickened by it.
I enjoy Dr Ruckman’s lessons but in 2 Timothy 2:14, right before the scripture he used to trash every other Bible, it says “they strive not about words to no profit”. Also the Amplified version does say “study in verse 15. Please don’t get caught up in useless arguments and miss the point of the message. All our Bibles are translations.
Every "bible" outside of the English version of the KJV is trash and words that don't profit are the words of those perversions. Amplified may get it right here by using the word study, but they still "corrupt" (KJV) the words of God, not just "peddle" (AMP) it according to 2 Corinthians 2:17. One drop of gasoline in pure water, doesn't mean the whole is pure outside of the drop, let alone the FACT that "A little leaven, leaveneth the whole lump (not batch)." Leaven is false doctrine and hypocrisy, not just "a slight inclination to error..." We don't get caught up in useless arguments, we get caught up in the authority "of the message" who is GOD, not men. There's only one version or "translation" of the Bible in English since 1611 that God impute and imposed his authority upon, and that is the AV 1611. Everything else is rebellion against that authority.
