Which Way Next? is a Singularity University webcast series of monthly roundtable discussions on exponential technologies with leaders in industry, science and technology. This is a recording of our live premiere episode with Dr. Sebastian Thrun, PhD, research professor and executive director of the Artificial Intelligence Lab at Stanford University and Google Fellow on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011. On this episode, he joined SU Chairman & Co-Founder Dr. Peter Diamandis, MD in a discussion on artificial intelligence and the Google autonomous Car. Earlier this year, Fast Company honored Dr. Thrun with the title of "fifth most creative person in the world."

i came here with the question: "what happened to the self-driving car and why dont we have them yet?" but i'll leave here with the satisfaction and gratefulness to Dr. Thrun for throttling his project based on the such valid remaining safety concerns. i can wait a few more years. thank u!

@nattsurfaren I assume that the AI will just do that. I mean pointing out more info. If I ask the wrong question or a not good enough question to the AI I will get a not so good response. The teacher can figure out if the question isn't good and give right action from that.

3d printing , robotic manufacturing , AI = to me IKEA ,gm, Honda , Walmart, compressed into corner store. So how do we reeducate 3-6 billion in 3-6 years?

About the question where will I go when the AI takes over. The answer that was given. It just makes tools more effective. Like you will always be needed. My question doesn't that mean the more effective the tools the harder it will be to accomplish something that the AI can't. I mean should everyone work with computer tools when all other jobs is taken over by AI. Like cleaning, cooking, taxi driving, restaurant work etc. Everyone isn't technical or have that passion. Where would they go?

At the end of the video. Not fear AI? Well I think we should fear the people using it. Like it is not the gun that is killing you it is the person pulling the trigger.

I don't believe that thrun thought this through about teaching 20 vs tens of thousands. The fever the more effective is the information that is to be teached to be learned. You need a two way communication teacher student so that the student can verify what she/he thinks he/she learned. To just point out more info is not the way it only leads to more questions.
