@@chenthehobbyist.2285 Shall we talk some more? :) Dr. Shashi Tharoor is from Kerala.... and he and his ancestors are/were from the "Nair caste" from that part of India. These Nairs were historically a warrior community. Before the 1800's the Nairs community and the Brahman caste of Nambudiris (you can read about them in Wikipedia) formed an alliance and ruled a part of modern Kerala, which later became the Travancore State from 1729. The Nambudiris were owners of vast tracks of land and were/are guardians of the temple. How do these two prominent castes (the Nairs and the Nambudiris) ruled over the common people at that time? If you're not a member of these two castes you are an Avarna (without caste).... and here are some of the laws....(It's a long list... haha): (a) You're not allowed to approach a member of the Nambudiri caste as much as 72 paces distance. (b) Nair men could wear moustaches, but not allowed for any lower castes. (c) If you're not a Nambudiri or a Nair woman, you're not allowed to wear gold or silver ornaments. (d) If you're not a Nambudiri or a Nair, you're not allowed to carry an umbrella or wear footwear (shoes/chappals). (e) If you're not a Nambudiri or a Nair, you're not allowed to go to school or drink from public wells. (f) If you're not a Nambudiri or a Nair, you're not allowed to wear new clothes without first making them soiled (this is really sick). (g) If you're not a Nambudiri or a Nair, you're not allowed to put up walls or gates round your houses or use tiles on your roof. ETC. And If you're not a Nambudiri or a Nair, you can avoid the laws and penalties by paying a tax for each restrictive measures. There are as much as 100+ form of taxes for the common people of the lower castes.... and these Nambudiris and Nairs castes were very very rich partly because of these taxes. You may have heard/read the news about the horde of treasures found in The Padmanabhaswamy temple in Trivandrum in 2011.... you can read about it on the internet..... those were part of the hidden wealth of the Nambudiris. So, the British were guilty of Imperialism of over India.... I guess that's true. But, what about the "Cultural Imperialism" of certain Indians to their fellow Indians in the past? Is Dr. Shashi Tharoor willing to pay a compensation for the ills of his ancestors to the various communities living in the state of Kerala today ..... as he demanded of the British in the Oxford speech in 2017? :D :D

The problem was the time. I can guarantee you that he would’ve given more time to the people for questions but he arrived late to the venue because of traffic most probably so the Q&A section had to be cut short.

@@Yao686 , yes the show started late and more time could not be devoted to Q&A but adding more misery was, the questionnaire were not precise to their questions and that took more time. On this kind of programme the audience are always reminded again and again to shorten their question and if they go overboard they are to be stopped by the volunteers which did not happen. Anyway like i said this is just the beginning so we all hope for a much better Q&A next time.

And Idk if i should be saying this to you or i should make you understand. But If you’re wise enough, you would be discussing the ideas instead of the community or party he belongs.
