How is he supposedly autistic when the pharmacist goes all stiff minded fixated on stiff facts ('it is a different drug' line). When in reality it contained the same substance, just at a different dosage, which could be lowered to the right level. It was unorthodox yes, but in times of seeing such stiff minded pseudo factual people who lack common sense - I see them as more autistic than what this actor was supposed to be.

He's been acting since he was a child and never went the route of most child actors where they fall into substance abuse and give up their careers so what you have here is a very seasoned actor at such a young age

A tv show has actors playing different characters, almost every movie and tv show has a fake storyline and fake characters. You seem to think I feel bad for the actor but I feel bad for the CHARACTER. this particular character struggles with a disability that makes his life more difficult and overwhelming. Me too As someone with autism I can relate to how he’s feeling when he couldn’t save the baby He tried everything he could and I don’t blame him for that Dr Shaun Murphy is a amazing doctor I can see how intelligent he is as a character in the show

Slightly expired meds can still be effective and save lives. In similar emergency situation they should be used, it's a sure death vs risk of death either way. They might not have saved the baby, but the odds would have improved dramatically. However, there are too few guarantees in life, and their ability to save the baby was one of them.

People always act as if someone with autism doesn't have the ability to care, people act as if they cannot relate to someone like that, But social cues are essentially a construct created by our own fabricated social norms, this man wanted to save the baby and he broke down like any other human would, Poor thing, and honestly what an incredible performance

Depends on if you mean characters that are intentionally written as or stated to be autistic. Autism doesn't have one or even five specific ways of presenting.

More than enough to make it unusable in this case. A body that small, dosage needs to be absolutely perfect. There is no way to factor for efficacy drop in a safe manner in this situation.

Expired means expired. YOU DO NOT USE IT. ESPECIALLY not in a surgical situation. PERIOD. It's slippery slopes like this that create the situation seen in the show.

As someone WITH autism, I can't even begin to tell you how real Shaun's reaction was, it hit home for me. Those of us with autism do operate on a different wavelength, and it can be SO hard to deal with. Sometimes, situations like Shaun's breakdown in the pharmacy happen, we process stuff slightly differently than neuro-typical people, although the emotions are just the same. We handle things different. We process stuff different, and I have experienced Shaun's explosion similarly, but in different situations. Expressing emotions are difficult for me, and it all builds up to the point where one incident will trigger an emotional breakdown, and months - if not years - of that buildup just all comes out at once. It's hard for me to handle that, but at age 44, I have accepted that this is who I am, this is how I PERSONALLY processnstuff, that's just how it is. I am SO glad that this show was produced. I feel like I, along with other autistic people, were well represented, it shows neurotypical people what it's really like for us.

It's more common than you think. Hospitals everywhere take shortcuts and do morally questionable things all if the time.

100%. I know someone who works in a hospital. They do all the inventory and deliver everything. Their boss purposefully doesn't do their job and they find issues with inventory, including expired items, ALLLLL the time.

Most people don't even get healthcare at all lol. It's all a mess lol.

Meds can be expired and it doesnt mean it toxic, it just means there’s less mg of the needed substances and chemicals for the medication.
