This is very to almost exact to my life, I’m not in a wheelchair but I have many conditions such as autism, Tourette’s and other ones that effect me. But others just see those and don’t see me for me. I am right now very lonely I have no friends, get bullied and many other things. I go to high school and being lonely and misunderstood is very hard. I am quite smart above my age level, but as I can hear more then others I can’t hear my own thoughts most of the time as I’m just listening to others conversations by accident. I have always wanted to be a doctor of some sort but I get/am very anxious about if that is possible. My teachers, family and I all know I have the level of iq to get in or close to being a doctor, but as I have conditions I always was concerned that they would say I couldn’t. I want to be able to help others, learn more and be able to just be there if someone needs me. I have never let my conditions stop me from doing what I want and I hope in the future I will be able to become a doctor of some sort. I was hoping to have friends by my side though these tough times but I am doing okay by myself. I am excelling in most to all subjects, I have never let the bullies get to me and I have taught myself to do many things I though I would never be able to do like speak publicly and be able to do things alone. I want everyone to know that nothing can stop them and I want to prove to the people who said I couldn’t be a doctor or who said I would never succeed and show them I can. Don’t let being in a wheelchair stop you, you have a lot in life to look forward to, yes you may not friends or a lover but that doesn’t change anything about how much you can accomplish. I wish you the best and hope that maybe you will find someone as a friend or lover.❤

Except she doesn't want to be his girlfriend because she knows him and knows he would not do well in the home or emotional environment she creates for herself, and vice versa. Is she meant to want to be his girlfriend because they get along well outside of her homelife?

That kid is not real for one. Then after that, if it was real. No such surgery exists to restore the vocal cords using your own cartilage, it doesn't make anatomical sense. So yes they did make the right choice by not putting their kids through surgery. And lastly, there are so many ways people can communicate without speech and so many communities they find acceptance in. Lacking speech does not make someone completely incapable of navigating life.

@izuna303 The narrative of the show is also about ableism against someone who can do something but does it differently. Yet they made him the most ableistic one in this scenario, and perpetuated the dem0nisation of asistive communication devices.

@@izuna303 the diagnoses are less realistic - see above where we discussed that the surgery does not exist and isnt really in the realm of possibility. Not to mention special nonsensical images flash across the screen, and then all of a sudden he knows. At least in house they brainstorm, and a lot of the illnesses and treatments are more accurate. House is also unapologetically an a*hole who is ableist and all other kinds of -ists. Shaun is also an a*hole but we're meant to believe he isn't, once again see above - really ableist by acting like not being able to speak is a worst case scenario.

@@laxankpurohit1128 because disabilities, especially ones that involve the brain, are *bad*. He's not helping anyone when he acts impulsively like this or has a breakdown during an operation he is preforming. He's definitely not helping himself.

Well, we are all impulsive at some time Or the other. But tend to take moral high ground when someone else has a moment. Just because we consider ourself normal and consider ourself in position of authority. I was a stammerer and rejected by all institutions in spite of my best knowledge. I opened my own teaching business, and attracting students from those institutions. Society, does act prejudiced in many ways.

Aspergers is no longer a recognised diagnosis, it all now comes under ASD (autism) with levels based on the different levels of support needed.

I have 3 children who would previously have been diagnosed with Aspergers but fall under the ASD umbrella as Aspergers Disorder is no longer a recognised diagnosis under the DSM. Their father also. So yes, highly relevant. I understand that you were likely diagnosed with Aspergers under an older version of the DSM but it is incorrect to say that Aspergers is not autism because these days it is.

It’s the same, but asperger’s is an outdated and harmful term and it’s better to use autism or ASD

They are considered to be similar conditions, so the medical community is now calling it the autistic spectrum. They consider the people having either condition as having "a brain that is wired differently " - neurodiverse. I believe that I am "on the spectrum," and many engineers, computer scientists, and other fields seem to have a higher % than the "normal population." Personally, I think I have Asparger's: I had to be taught to look people in the eyes, teachers have told me that my logic was backwards for working problems, yet I got the correct answers. I am also a member of Mensa. Go figure!?! I wonder if our different brain wiring could be the next step for humans?

I believe that someone with his abilities to diagnose and come up with different ways to bypass a medical problem (once they are calmed down) should be heard. @@monicaluketich6913 I had a lot of empathy for him at first. He was just trying be accepted doing the job that he wanted to do. Slowly however, he has made mistakes a neurotypical person would *never* do. It's one thing to get overstimulated and curl up in a fetal position, (he's probably not thrilled when that happens either, poor man) but come on! And to answer your question: no, I have never chased anyone because I would *never* do anything that made me look like I should be in a psych ward! I guess I have a little more dignity than that!
