I really liked this bloke, no matter what amount of pressure he was under, he still found a way to be calm and look for the positives. Love ya noble 🔵⚪️
Noble was the only one of these three that showed any class and didn't come across as a robotic, soulless business person. The AFL lost a good footy man today.
It's sad to have ended this way. I really appreciated Noble, especially his calm measured demeanor. Takes time for a club to adjust to a game plan, I wish it had all clicked sooner. Hope things look up from here.
Noble is a professional... sad the club lost a guy like him, would be great to have him stay in the club in some role, but as a coach he had lost the players.
“Realistically, David’s got two to three years to really get us into a position where we’re competing regularly in the top four and ultimately looking to win a premiership.“ - Ben Buckley, chairman NMFC Nov 2020 Poor guy was set up to fail. Time to clean house
These idiots only a few weeks ago said “David’s our man”!!!! Incompetent board and management who ALL need to go and have complete fresh start without the influence of past players trying to run the club from a distance!!!!
We need to attract more senior and talented players, it's great we have some young players learning their craft but we shouldn't be relying on 4 players it's never going to work. I don't blame David for our current poor form I don't think we recruited well and I would have been more pleased if they parted ways with Stephenson first rather than Noble.
With all the dollars spent in the AFL, why we still have pressers where not all of the participants (journo’s etc.) can be heard, amazes and disappoints.
Throw the bloke under the bus when he had to rebuild the shit show created by giving Brad Scott 5 years too long. Hiring a CEO that was sacked from Cricket Australia after sandpapergate because of his unethical behavior and a president who has a job on gender not merit
Scott did well with an average list. Played finals most years and got into two prelim finals. The cleanout of experience in 2016 was the beginning of our demise. Noble has shown zero coaching ability. Deplorable skill levels within the playing group, no tactical ability as demonstrated by a complete lack of game plans, and to make it even worse he couldn't motivate the players to give 100% and to put their bodies on thee line. He should have left on his own accord months ago when it was evident that he was out of depth.
Congratulations to Dr Hood for making the brave decision to part ways with Noble for the betterment of the NMFC, something happened after the Sydney game and the club has been a downward spiral ever since, and while it is not ideal to part ways with the coach with only six games to go it was the right decision. Also congratulations to David Noble for his professional manner at the press conference, it must be tough but he handled it with class. Despite the last 14 weeks it's hard not like the guy. Go Roos!
What a pathetic press conference if that is the best they have in the club who simply read a statement no wonder North are where they are. Get her and others out of the club as soon as possible and find someone who has more skill to do the job ffs.
Weak Boards who don't stay the course for a reasonable period of time leave their clubs at the bottom for longer than is necessary imo that's what is happening here. Had the board listened to Brad Scott and supported him the Roos may have been able to weather the media crap that was surely the catalyst for Noble's demise. When a club chooses to start from scratch then some pain is certain to follow it takes time to build a top 4 club and 36 months is barely the start of the struggle but again Weak boards at footy clubs make that struggle so much harder players now have to forget Noble's teachings and start all over again
What teachings? The problem was that we were getting worse rather than seeing gradual improvement. Our players have the worst skill levels in the AFL, despite being good enough to get drafted. The poor skill levels were further exposed when we play without a game plan. Furthermore Noble couldn't instill good spirit in the playing group, which resulted in a lack of desire to win the hard ball. Noble has done nothing for North as a coach, that's why he has been shown the door.
@@gustaaf1892 I don't know enough about the inner workings at North to know what is being taught but anyway you slice it the Roos have a good 3years at least of finishing in the bottom third of the ladder and at the current rate of coach replacements that's 2 more before 2025 Nobel was always Gunna be more of a Fagan type than a Clarko type instead of sacking the coach change some assistants get some people around him you know all the things they didn't do for Shaw
If you were an employer and one of your managers is severely underperforming, missing KPIs by large margins and not showing any signs of improvement to the significant detriment of the business, would you keep that manager on just in case a miracle happens? At some point you need to cut your losses. The club now needs time to recover from the damage he has caused.
@@cant_touchthis69 I found 18 months too long. The man CAN"T coach. He is an administrator. We were getting demonstrably worse by the week. His career coaching resume now reads 3 wooden spoons from 4 seasons at two clubs. The fourth year was also a failure. What does that tell you? If he stayed on for next year it would be worse again and we'd see our best young talent walk out to other clubs. Enough is enough.
You won't know how good some of the young players are until they've had a decent coach. Hopefully the next coach can expose that. Noble was utterly useless in all aspects of the coaching caper.
@@alkaford6259 so I make a statement that is backed up by most of the experts out there you get upset sorry but Norths list is in the 2 worst in the comp if there are 8 on the list that would consistently be picked in the first 18 players at another AFL club they would be lucky and that's being generous, I will also say it its not just Noble he is the scape goat the board has a lot to answer for as well
The day he apologised for giving the players a spray, he lost integrity, respect and the players. When you try to make people happy and steer away from your beliefs, you are dead in the water. Fell on his own sword.
38 games and you expect a quick fucking turn around like that? With the list North currently has? People are quick to forget who was responsible for the turn around at Brisbane.
They were showing improvement in their second year rebuild tho. We have taken a step back. You need more than a win or two a year to show progression & growth
@@calvinjames9229 ldu, buckets, Thomas, jhf, Curtis, zurhaar, larkey.. I dunno, I rate em! Throw in phillps & cunners return in 2023 and we should chalk up 6 wins and show decent inroads with a new voice behind the wheel
I don't like our chances, but I'd be happy to have his experience around the place, not just on the training track and on game days, but also to put some systems in place that the club can build on into the future. The other one I'd be happy with is Cameron who has experience working with a young inexperienced list.
I am sick to death of coaches being sacked mid season! Why does nobody seem mention Hardwick in 2016 when he had one foot out the door...?? We all know what happened after that. And Buckley in 2017 about to be sacked only to take his team to a GF in '18. David seems like a good footy person.....hopefully someone will snap him up!
well good thing he didnt get sacked isnt it... but let's face it.. he achieved nothing. and now north are going to beg and cry to afl for priority picks. let them grab 2 or 3 state players AFTER the draft. but dont keep penalising the other teams just because they couldnt draft their way out of a wet paper bag. maybe give them 4 players, that will make up for Horne francis running away as fast as he can.
@@lunch2102 huge difference mate. father sons have been around forever, no issues with them whatsoever. nga are a different story. they have been improved with the new rules, but they were a load of crap prior to the rule changes when for instance ugly hagan went to the dogs. in the end it doesnt matter because we are talking teams who are totally and utterly inept at picking even slightly decent players, having a decent game plan or just playing any good football at all. why should everyone be compromised because of their ineptness. I was really annoyed when my own team started talking about getting handouts for being shit. luckily they have decided to dig themselves out of their own hole. as I said, let them pick 1 player from say the wafl, sanfl and 1 or 2 from the VFL, AFTER THE DRAFT. say must be at least 21 yrs old or something so they can at least see if they can play and of they have the right temperament and mentality for afl.
The definition of insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. You can't keep sacking coaches and just expect it all to work the next time. The writing was on the wall when 3 of your recuitment team left in a day. The second Walsh was appointed to clean house, Noble knew he was gone. What did anyone realistically expect him to do with what he had control of? What an absolute mess. Complete basket case. AFL needs to take control, Clean the joint out. No one is safe. Get it right next time or fold the joint.
Should they have folded Melbourne when they were a basket case for longer than I can remember? Look where they are now? As they say in superannuation advertisements, past performance is no indication of future performance. North will rise again, as sure as the sun rises in the morning.
Noble didn't even have enough leadership skills to have the players play with spirit and doing everything they could to win the hard ball. I have never seen a North side with less spirit than has been on display this season. Just because he is calm when he does his auto repeat pressers doesn't mean he is demonstrating leadership.
No more soft/woke coaches for North the players just abuse the situation. Despite the naysayers the list is talented but they won't get anywhere without a firm coach and skills coaches. Clarko is the obvious man for the job, he wasn't available last time around. He is now, they better grab him.
Insiders such as David King said that it was his very no nonsense approach that rubbed some players the wrong way. So your comment doesn't make sense in that light.
The Club owes its members to get Alister Clarkson. His presence & knowledge is what we need plus his a past shinboner he will bring North out of the hole in time. Go Roos 👍
David Noble is delusional. He say our club is in a great position....is he taking the piss. Stone motherless last, been belted multiple times, only win is against a WAFL side and he labels that a great position. Yapping about memberships being up, the women’s team having a good year is utterly irrelevant and just fluff. They aren’t on the rise, they look rudderless, are basically an on field rabble and you are goneski.....it’s that simple.
6.30pm Tuesday and 91 comments. Yeah your membership is booming... The bullshit rains heavy in this club. Tell me, why is it the best thing that David be sacked??
Because he couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. Being able to coach would seem to be a pre requisite for a head coach in the AFL. He is truly the worst coach I've seen, not just in the AFL, but in all professional sports. Noble wouldn't make finals with Melbourne's list.
Its all bullshit, the club has crewed this bloke for the simple fact, that they want clarkson, no coach in vfl, afl history has ever been sacked for just loozing 14 games, this is a young coach in a re build, with a young inexperienced side, even brendon bolton got 2 and a half seasons at carlton, in a re build, its a cop out, if anything its the football clubs folt for hav,n a pathetic football commity, when i ever think of nth melb in the future, the first thing that will come to mind, is no integrity, best of luck david, but sorry buddy you got screwed
Thank God he is finally gone. Now we can start building for a future and hopefully show enough improvement for our better young talent to be incentivised to remain at the club. I wonder if the non selection of JHF against the Pies may have influenced this decision, as that may have further jeopardised our ability to retain possibly our most valuable asset at the club. I would be interesting to know what Walsh reported to the board to influence this decision. Hood would and should never make that public, so I'll take her denial here with a grain of salt.
If anything the assistants he had should go (rocca, brown, younie and russell). I would of kept noble tbh. Good luck to anyone who goes in next because your club needs a full clear out. David noble has been footy boss of crows and Brisbane and would probs know how to run a footy club/department better then anyone else at North
@@JM-br6vc Totally different performing backroom functions to being the head coach at an AFL club. They are jobs that require different skills sets. It was foolish to assume that Noble would do a good job as a head coach with his resume. His only previous coaching experience was almost 20 years ago when he failed at Glenelg in the SANFL.
@@gustaaf1892 Fagan had a very similar resume to noble in terms of running footy departments and coaching. I think he deserved more time imo. The board haven't necessarily backed him as jobs he's had in the past he would know what people to have around him to excel as a coach.
@@JM-br6vc The Board have stopped backing him because it is patently obvious that he can't coach. Things are only getting worse, so giving him more time will only do more harm to the club. Not everyone who likes and/or knows footy can coach. His record now shows that he has won the spoon in 3 of the 4 seasons he has coached, and the other season was also a failure. I'm crediting him with a spoon for this season because that is where he left the club. If by some miracle North avoid the spoon this year, that won't be because of what Noble has done. His only win this year was against the WAFL Eagles, so that one doesn't even really count.
Omg she cuts Noble's time to develop the group then goes public to say they need time to develop the group. It's time like this where boards have to have big balls and stay the course, forget the results and chase the bigger picture. It's too easy to keep changing coaches time to change the board good boards like Geelong, Richmond, Brisbane get results poor boards like North deserve what they get despite the spin this press conference gave us the club is screwed clean it out from top to bottom.
