The Pink Lotus Academia successfully hosted the ‘Ahangi’ Festival on 26th July 2024, at Triveni Kala Sangam, Mandi House.
The inaugural performance of this radiant celebration will feature a spellbinding Carnatic vocal recital by Dr Sowmya Gurucharan, with Manohar Balatchandirane on the Mridangam and Arvindd Narayanan on the Violin.

What a start in such a low octave.. likable.. great control and a suitable slow speed that lets us understand each intonation.

Dr. Sowmya, Heared your 1 hour exposition on Thodi and Vasantha. I must say without hesitation that it has been one of the best renderings that I have heard, especially the style of rendition. Whether RA or Sahityam or Swara Prastharam, you excelled throughout. One suggestion, however, for improvement. If that is appropriate you may consider. That is, you should, in my opinion, curtail the RA as well as Swaram. Instead of going on endlessly, you should limit the length of singing and wind up each piece at a time when the listener yearns to hear more from you. That, according to me, is the essence of attractive singing. Otherwise, the Eduppus, Bhava, adherence to Sruthi are all perfect. Keep it up and keep improving. Good Luck and God Bless!!!!

ahangi without the stress on the first 'a' refers to suicide/self harm in Sanskrit. It seems as if Aahangi is a nice Urdu word.

Let the artist reply if possible Madam I respect you for your talent. But why should you keep the Tambura Shruthi so loud that it eats away the nuances of your voice.
