Want to watch more? Bill's (Doc) energy and passion doesn't diminish during these extended interview clips. After sharing a 'strange customer' story, the Doc talks in more detail about his mail order services which ultimately grew to the Dr. Strange Record Label and (an insanely cool) brick and mortar destination for all things punk:

Interesting to see a record store that only sells a specific genre. At least they chose a good one! Cool store and great video.

He knows his history about our city. 100% true when he says amethyst Street is kind of a ghost town. The record shop is really the only thing there. But it's a beautiful area regardless I live close by

If you go here, this dude will be there selling records. There will be unknown tunes on the speakers that sound just nice. I'ma go grab a how could he'll be any worse and a singles going steady just cause I like Dr. Strange and I never want them to go away

I miss coming to this place. Everyone there is really cool and always willing to talk and help with something. Dr. Strange will be the first stop when I move back.

Good morning brother C~ I had to click on over to see this one pronto. Loved the interview. Seventeen years ago and Bill is still going strong. You can tell that he has a real love for music and seems like a really nice guy. It is always a big plus for me when you find a pleasant owner/manager who has musical knowledge coming out of his or her pours. Fantastic editing. Did you set up a lone camera behind you for the distant shots? That adds so much texture to your videos . I am curious to know if he grabs a few rarities here and there? How could anyone who owns a used record store and loves vinyl not grab a few original punk singles when they come in the store? It would be very tough for me to do. Thanks Corey. Top notch once again~ Rob/Boston

Paneeks1960 Well said Rob and thanks for the comment. Great question: Bill can correct me where I'm wrong but he explained to me that he (for the most part) quit collecting records when the store opened. He's got all the rare/early records from high school but keeps the stuff at home under 1500 or so. If he does add something new he will 'trade himself' out of something else. His next comment was the actual end of this video. Hope that answers your question. Thanks for the editing kudos too, I like to use a side cam when I can!

Corey great production and once again you make an awesome interview. Bill seems to be a true gentleman and he bought a Portuguese punk pressing and most of them are really hard to find even for the ones who live in Portugal like me. Cheers my friend.

Enjoyed the video coverage of the store and interview. Punk: this is the way I feel, take it or leave it. Come for the ride, or out of my way. Glad he has gotten over the hump, and made the better choices in the past for his client base. I don't have a good camera at all, but show some store tours also. Thanks Steve

Fantastic video! As soon as it was over I was looking up New Poison by The Freeze. What a great song, I'm not a huge punk fan but that song is something I would really listen to. I love the owner's attitude too, so positive and in it for all the right reasons. Nice to see my hometown, Pittsburgh, in the opening sequence too. :) Great job.

chad017 Right on Chad! I think there is a little Punk in most of us... The Freeze instantly grew on me too and that CD has been in rotation with the other three bands for 2 weeks now! I did some great digging in Pitt and I like that shot going downtown. Thank you

Great interview and a great way to kick off the season. I can't believe he can stay in business being that specific to his genres, but there is something to be said about focusing on what you know and not branching out to what you don't.

Great video. I will check out Dr Strange Records. The store looks great. Looking forward to checking it out. The owner seems so cool. I will do an update after I check it out. It is down the 210 freeway from my work. A recovering record collector is too funny. Again great video and thanks for the heads up on a great record store.
