I had a choice of videos to watch tonight, and I chose this one. Of course, I’ve heard of Dr. Wayne Dyer, and I’ve even watched some of his other videos here on RU-vid. But I didn’t set out to watch one of his videos tonight, and, in fact, I was going to listen to some music to help me go to sleep. But something inside gently nudged me to watch this vid before I went to find some relaxing sleep music. I give you all this preliminary set-up to tell y’all this: I live in Biloxi, Mississippi, and I’m less than 10 minutes away from where Dr. Dwyer’s father is buried. This topic of forgiveness is not something I’ve mastered toward my own father, who was a Latvian refugee, and was sponsored along with his family to come to the US about 5 years after the end of WW II. This resettlement to the Mississippi Delta (of all places) was certainly difficult for the Latvian DPs, but it was especially difficult for my father. I’m told he was an exceptionally sensitive, brilliant, and creative young man, whose dreams of being a professional soccer player or Olympic-caliber gymnast were destroyed by the war. He did the best he could to adapt to his new home, but the PTSD from the war and having his dreams torn asunder were just too much for him, and he self-medicated his pain with vodka, becoming a functional alcoholic shortly after I was born. My dad could sublimate his sadness and unresolved rage long enough to do his work as an outstanding and creative cabinet maker and furniture designer/builder, but when he got home he drank to excess, and that’s when the rage erupted. Not toward my mother or my sister, but toward me, his little sissy son who couldn’t care less about sports. I became his personal whipping boy until I left home for college. Dr. Dyer’s story of forgiving his father is something I needed to hear tonight, and a lesson I need to learn. There’s no time like the present, so here goes: Daddy, I forgive you for beating and verbally debasing me the first 18 years of my life. I know you loved me as best you could. Was it enough? No, but it was the best you knew how to do. I have to believe that. Sober, you were kind and helpful to me, but you weren’t sober very often in those years. But you were a good hardworking man, who was so proud to become a naturalized citizen. You knew more about American History and politics than 99% of the folks born in this country. You instilled in my sister and me an incredible work ethic and a sense of responsibility to those less fortunate. Your sense of excellence inspires me to this day. I think about you often-everyday!-and I wonder what you could have done with your dreams had WW II not ripped you from your homeland. I grieve what might have been for you and me as father and son, and that you were an innocent victim-a child!-of evil forces beyond your control. My father died on July 23, 2015, nearly 8 years ago, and forgiving him for physically and verbally beating me has been hard. But from now on, I will only see you in a loving, empathetic light, realizing you did the best you knew how to do raising me. I thank you for the gift of life, and I also thank you for working so hard to build a life here for Momma, my sister, and me. Now that you are part of the Eternal Universe where there is no pain, no suffering, I hope you have the peace that always alluded you in this life. Daddy, I will always love you. May I find my own sense of peace by letting go of the rage, hurt, and anger I have secretly harbored towards you. -Richard

Thank you for sharing your story! I live in Gautier. When I was first pulled to Wayne Dyer a few months ago, I immediately heard the story about going to find his dads grave in Biloxi and something popped in my mind that I needed to visit the grave. I haven’t done so yet, but I felt in some way that it was a message from Wayne. Hopefully soon I will head that way, locate the grave and receive whatever message I am supposed to receive. Thank you again for sharing your story🌟

"Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet sheds on the heal that crushed it" What a beautiful quote from Mark Twain. Thank you Dr Dyer for your wonderful meaningful oratory. Wayne has been an inspiration in my life. If when you read this, after listening to this great inspirational man sent by our Creator to teach us forgiveness, you can find such forgiveness in your heart as Dr Dyer received you will be blessed indeed. I am praying to God thru his son Jesus to help me find forgiveness for the lies & betrayal I received as a child.

I’m watching this because I was an only child. My mom divorced my dad a yr after I was born. My moms career always came first over everything and everyone. My mom and I have never ever had a relationship. We had a huge fight 16 yrs ago at my aunt’s funeral, she was a better mom to me than my actual mom. Today, 3/21/23. I accidentally found out my mom died 1/16/23. No one told me, and I was not even mentioned in the obituary. I was left off. Today has been such a hard day knowing you were erased from her life. There was and never will be closure. She got the last word. I’m watching Wayne to learn forgiveness. It is very hard to understand and forgive someone who gave birth to you, was never there, only love came in the form of gifts. Never time. I hope I can forgive for me now. Thank you Wayne

My heart goes out to you. I am without words, except to say that, though I believe forgiveness does bring healing, it's important that each person do that only when they are ready. Also, I'm going to say a little prayer for you, for peace.

When you recognize that you can see images in your head, you can understand not of this world. You create this world with those thoughts.. as youu look around and notice that the things you see were once a thought, you understand ask and receive.. and when you understand that you forgive those who don’t.. law of attraction what you focus on and feel to be true will become the way you expect it.. hence be carful what you wish for…

The point of forgiveness isn’t whether or not you believe or do not believe Jesus existed. He quoted Jesus and I nearly didn’t listen as I’m not a Christian. He also quoted Mark Twain. Forgiveness and how to allow yourself to live with acceptance of the trauma and harm that other people have inflicted on us is what’s relevant, It’s not the perpetrator of wrongdoing we need to forgive they need to forgive themselves, some do some don’t. Closure from trauma comes with forgiveness it allows us to not become locked into a bitter, cynical and angry negative mindset. These negative emotions just make us unhappy and miserable. Anyone that’s grown up in a dysfunctional, abusive childhood knows how hard it is to forgive the mother, father sibling or all of them. It’s complex and difficult especially when as adults the abusive behaviours continue. Walk away from toxic behaviour and allow yourself to recover and forgive yourself, not all parents are suitable to be a parent, not all siblings are equipped to love their brother or sister. Anyone that harms a child and causes them pain, grief and trauma is indelibly scarring them for the entirety of their life. You owe it to your own peace of mind to walk away and recover.

I agree with you. One thing bothering me is how make thst closure and how to make yourself forgive when all that you feel for your oppressor is hate disgust revolt and i dont know what else. How to change that feeling and remove the negativity in you🤔

Forgiveness is a very easy thing to do! So why do the celebrities have issues with it? Maybe because they love one day and next month decided to try something new, so they lie and wonder how forgiveness isn’t so easy to do🤧🇵🇷
@khushboo6699
@khushboo6699 Год назад
I somehow agree but i believe forgiveness is not something said and is done. It has to come from the heart. This is what makes it difficult but of course not impossible. I want to forgive one person who has ruined my 25 years career but i find it hard to make my heart understand. It bleeds everytime my mind goes to that person or incident

@@khushboo6699 No one can ruin ur lifetime of being famous, you did that on your own! The person never met you, never talked to you, never ever looked for u! You have a mental illness! You assume they say your name and you assume that by golly it isn’t true! U have issues! No one is on Facebook, your the only one who continues to be on there you tube when they continue to remove you! You you have mental illness! You continue to say she does! You stay on her emails, phone numbers and 7 years still! You have a mental problem with this lady who u claim she is ruining ur life! Get her blocked, out of your life!
