These guys are the real deal! This sounds like “one of our submarines “ style Thomas Dolby with....drab majesty!! Truly reflective yet truly original at the same time. Fantastic job! Fan for life!!
I know I'm super late to the party here! In the final chorus, he repeats, "Your beauty's now just a charade" It seemed like some of you were confused about it. I hope that clears it up...4 years later lol.
To Be goth is to be an individual, not swayed by the masses, whether for the futility of trying, societal betrayal. crippling depression, anxiety etc., or just the impelling urge to be oneself, It can be said that goth isn't a subculture, so much as it is a chaotic cultural vacuum of pure self, absent of any culture save for that which is sucked up, and repurposed like a black hole where hawking radiation is goth. With that formula in mind it's clear that this is indeed goth. However I would add also that the layers of culture, and the lack thereof, up to goth such as punk, and post punk are in fact, all extensions of rebelliousness in general, which is itself a manifestation of a divorce between the self, and society at large, however in all of this, it is paramount that the individual resolve to serve humanity n their own way, and therefore, even if culturally and societally divorced, you remain connected to humanity itself, and are able to survive. Lone wolf humans don't last too long, we are intended to be social creatures, even if our social mechanisms must be jury rigged to do so.
Bauhaus is goth. Sisters of Mercy are goth. Current 93 is goth, etc. While in other Drab Majesty songs and visual imagry, I recognize goth undertones, but in my opinion it's more dark wave, dark synth, ect. The first time that I heard Drab, I was reminded of The Cure... I believe that it was the voice. I wouldn't consider the Cure goth either, though. Dark, yes, but different. I enjoyed the explanation if goth above. my mind went immediately to black holes. I adore this band. I adore darker music. A disclaimer if I may: these are only my perceptions and it in no way minimizes your own thoughts on the issue. Also... can you say HOT?!
@@Christiantodd1 hence the problem with genres, like style it lends to some people the ability to compare and differentiate, and like a cult or religious zealot, users will call out the nonconformist commenters
Happy for you as well. Completely Careless and Modern Mirror are Drab staples and are frequently disregarded because they didn't release off The Demonstration, smh. I've seen them thrice and the energy is off the scale
I'm watching the movie Cobra and this is song going well with that scene were Bridget Nelson is doing a photo shoot with robots and Sylvester Stallone is walking the streets trying to get some leads on the killers.
I love this song so much and I wonder why they never play it live. The only instance of that I can find was on the Del Talk Show. when it was just Deb.
