Draconian It's all I Need! Try Draconian The Sethian! " The Sorrow of Sophia" by Draconian is a song that delves deep into the concept of Sophia, the ancient Greek goddess of wisdom. The lyrics are filled with vivid imagery of a world suffering from the burden of time and the guilt of past deeds. Sophia, who is often associated with wisdom and clarity of thought, is being portrayed here as a symbol of the world's sorrow and pain. The song begins with the singer expressing forgiveness towards Sophia, who is referred to as the "mother of our prison". The imagery suggests that perhaps Sophia created the world, but now she is trapped within it. She is constantly weeping for the world, as if she is aware of the suffering that exists within it. The second verse speaks of the tormented lives of people, and reflects on how Sophia is like the sun, always shining, yet also weeping for the world. The chorus suggests that humanity is trapped in time, but there is a possibility of breaking free from its burden. The bridge shifts the focus to the observer, who sees a goddess (perhaps Sophia) concealed in shadow, seducing the stars and flaming Gaia (the earth goddess). This line suggests that Sophia is not only an agent of sorrow, but also possesses immense power. Verse 3 seems to speak to the idea of seeking enlightenment or spiritual awakening. The singer claims to have "come from the waters to invoke the spirit within you", possibly referring to a spiritual quest to find meaning in a world filled with suffering. The final verse carries the idea that Sophia is caught in deafening winds, whispering through the fields, trees, and stone, and feeding the demons of sorrow and guilt within us. The ultimate message here seems to be that everyone is burdened by the same pain and guilt, but it is possible to shed that burden and awaken to a more enlightened state. Overall, "Sorrow of Sophia" is a song that explores the themes of suffering, guilt, and spiritual awakening. The lyrics portray Sophia as both a symbol of wisdom and a source of grief and pain, offering a complex vision of the world and humanity's place within it. Also The Band Member Are Currently - Growler is Anders Jacobsson, Johan Ericson - lead guitar, Lisa Johansson Clean Female Vocals Currently as of Last Year, But Heike Langhans - clean vocals was on This Album not Lisa, Jerry Torstensson - drums, Daniel Arvidsson - bass, Niklas Nord - rhythm guitar.
@@nogodsnomasters666 Tho gnosticism knows many variants on the same thought, Sophia is the One creating this realm without her male partner, the lionhead seduce her down into the lower realms, in doing so she was robbed of her glory and was teapped in the physical realm. Indeed, she is not gaia.... that is a different belief system all together. Sophia in certain gnostic tales eventually takes upon her the same redemptive role that Christ took upon Himself. Sophia is Wisdom, as is Christ in Proverbs 8 of The Bible. I love the resemblance.
It's great to see a reaction to this fantastic band! The male singer is Anders Jacobsson and the female singer is Heike Langhans. The story of the song is based on Gnostic mythology where Sophia, a divine emanation representing Wisdom, participated in several actions ultimately resulting in the creation of the material world, along with causing divine sparks to become souls trapped in bodies.... which she is perpetually in mourning over through regret. For more Draconian with Heike, I'd recommend "Stellar Tombs", "The Sethian", and "Sleepwalkers".
Welcome in the dark world of doom metal by the masters of this genre. Draconian is much underrated band, but they have many must to hear songs, just a few in my suggestions : Morphine cloud, Bloodflower, Pale tortured blue, The last hour of ancient sunlight, She dies, Seasons apart, Stellar tombs and The cry of silence. Their melancholic, heavy world combined with the angelic female vocal is mesmerizing and the atmosphere of this music is amazing.
One of the best melodic gothic doom bands on the planet. This band along with Swallow the Sun and In Mourning are three of the best. Melodic doom and Melodic death metal bands I have ever heard. Check out Swallow the Sun - Enemy and In Mourning - Black Storm you will like them. I'm 64 and Scandinavian metal is about all I will listen to. I was brought up on Zeppelin, Sabbath, Rush, Pink Floyd and so on, been a musician for over 40 years Scandinavian Metal is just excellent. The older I get the heavier the music is that I listen to.🎸✌👍
Oh yes I got all of Draconian's albums!!! Wow what a list of great bands and goddesses of metal. I know most of these bands but there are a few I don’t. I’ll check them out. 🤟🏻If you don’t mind, I would just add,Trees of Eternity and the goddess Aleah (RIP).
@@PainInTheS And one more, it’s a band from Spain called Evadne (doom/death). These two songs are from their recent CD/DVD in studio with a string quartet and the beautiful voice of Natalie Koskinen (Shape of Despair). - “Ablaze Down Eyes” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fjxOVWFvxQk.htmlsi=oy9brLbT_o_bUjbn - “Heirs of Sorrow” ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XJ4Y7S1zvVY.htmlsi=UlcYheqWeX1WFRmH - Full DVD ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-npHbMHXYz1k.htmlsi=ONBjuCwv483Odrk6
I saw quite a few of your video's and I like your reactions... But can you please not call it "demon voice", better is to say "harsh vocals"... This type of music already has a pretty negative wrap for it often being labelled satanic, calling it demon voice doesn't help... 😉 Keep it up!
You should check out the band TRAIL OF TEARS, their album Profoundemonium (released in 2000) is amazing. Somewhat similar to DRACONIAN. DRACONIAN's first 2 full length albums, Where Lovers Mourn and Arcane Rain Fell, released in 2003 and 2005, are excellent too.
