A few things to mention: Zandor Vorkov (Dracula in Al Adamson's Dracula vs. Frankenstein) is actually Roger Engel. He was the broker for Adamson's film company as well as a real estate broker, and is alive and well somewhere in the Carolinas, according to Adamson's former business partner Sam Sherman. Also, Francis Lederer (The Return Of Dracula) was once considered for the role that Zandor Vorkov originally played. Forrest Ackerman was the owner of Famous Monsters Magazine, and took people on guided tours of "The Ackermansion" to see his collectibles he amassed over the years, including the ring Bela Lugosi wore as Dracula. And lastly, Regina Carroll (the blonde in Al Adamson's Dracula vs. Frankenstein) was Adamson's real-life wife. Adamson was murdered by his live-in handyman in 1995, and Regina Carroll died prior.
It was a brief battle but it was done so well because the Monster was originally on Dracula's side and as the film goes on, it becomes clear that the Monster eventually has to confront his old master to save his new friends.
If you think Monsters of Terror/Assignment Terror being retitled Dracula vs Frankenstein was bad, spare a thought for the film it's a sequel to: a werewolf film originally titled The Mark of the Wolfman, which was renamed Frankenstein's Bloody Terror in the US. It's got the wolfman, it's got two vampires, but absolutely zero Frankenstein. Some of those exhibitors and distributors should have been shot.
huge Paul Naschy fan, just watched The Hanging Woman with him a few nights ago. this is an old review, perhaps he has discovered the Waldemar movies since? I think they are really hard to track them down, some are in a nice set but only 3 or 4. I think the rarest ones are the one with Caroline Munro where he plays several monsters, the two later ones he did where he was much older, and the one set in Japan
I've got all the Daninskys with the exception of Lycantropus, which i can't seem to get hold of. Sadly, my copy of The Beast and the Magic Sword (the Japan one) is in Spanish with no English subtitles. I just tried to muddle through and understand as much of it as possible. The lengths i'll go to as a horror fan.
"The Beast and the Magic Sword" is pretty decent, if you have English subs to go with it. "Lycantropus" isn't great, but it's not awful either. It's heavily influenced by "Wolf" and is very low on Wolf Man shenanigans.
@@glenmcculla6843 I have an English subtitled print of The Beast and The Magic Sword, and The Werewolf and The Yeti (on DVD). I also have (on DVD) Vengeance of The Mummy-----which is a REALLY solid Naschy film (violent too). I have the uncut version of Dr. Jekyll vs The Werewolf and a handful of other Naschy films. I have soooooo many films. Bought them from a now out of business company back in 2012 called "Cinema De Bizarre".
Lon Chaney Jr. was also the only Universal Studios actor to play all 4 of the iconic Monsters-he played The Wolfman, The Mummy, Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster.
I think a good plot for a Dracula vs Frankenstein movie would be Dracula is terrorizing Dr.Frakenstein's town/city and when he finds out that Dracula is undead, he goes and makes his monster to go fight him
Silly spanish correction: Drácula contra Frankenstein does not exactly mean "Dracula against Frankenstein" it actually means Dracula versus Frankenstein. To be "Dracula agains Frankenstein" it would be something like "Drácula en contra de Frankenstein". But, 'contra' could mean "against" as well but not when is "A contra B", in that particular case it means versus.
Van Helsing had the monster fight a vampire it was pretty good and that wasn't even their main focus, that interpretation of the monster is my favorite
Peter Cushing could play Van Helsing if Hammer did a Dracula vs. Frankenstein movie and Ralph Bates would play Victor Frankenstein, David Prowse would play Frankenstein's Monster and Christopher Lee would play Count Dracula
Frankie and Drac tussle briefly in Fred Dekker's The Monster Squad (1987); this time, it's Drac resurrecting and controlling sundry Universal monsters, and Frankie ultimately rebels when Drac threatens the child he has befriended. It's probably the best we can hope for in a fight between such a mismatched pair.
Two of the most iconic monsters v. The most iconic video game nerd of all time. Seriously. Been watching for years. You're an icon, Mr. Rolfe. This internet gaming age wouldn't have happened without you. Make sure you know your impact and take your credit.
By the way Assignment Terror was part of the franchise about Waldemar Daninsky - the Wolf Man played by the Spanish actor Paul Naschy (the so-called Spanish Lon Chaney) which obviously Rolfe didn't know since he compared him with Teen Wolf
It’s a scene from the movie “The Stuff”. I haven’t gotten to watch the film yet. But it looks like a fun time. Could be even more fun to pretend that’s Bill Cosby getting what he deserves.
If movie studios would learn to play nice with each other, we'd get a lot more crossovers. Like a Freddy vs Jason vs Ash vs Michael Myers vs Leatherface movie. Something along those lines. It'll never happen though😒.
I have an idea for a *Dracula vs. Frankenstein* film. It's set in an alternate World War I where Dracula is trying to conquer Europe with his vampire legion. Dr. Frankenstein creates The Monster and his Bride in order to defeat him!
In 1974 at ten years old watching this The Lon Chaney version on TV I thought this was the bomb and I'm proud to say its in my DVD collection. While some of Paul Naschy's films have been restored Assignment Terror/Dracula vs Frankenstein has not. Although its not his best work I do believe it was directed by him and it also boasts the beautiful Karin Dor.
Yo I came from your 'Top 10 popular movies that I don't love' I think it would be interesting to see a 'Top 10 unpopular movies that I do love' or something like that.
Italian because it was released in Italy I think and and Spanish because of the late great horror movie actor who played the Wolfman in this film is named Paul Naschy who mad his film debut and I believe 1969 in the hammer film which I can't remember the name of at this point but made more Wolfman movies such as el hombre del lobo and controversial movie werewolf and the yeti that was even banned in some countries do to the graphic and violent content which Paul Naschy was from Spain I forgot to mention which brings me to this movie which is why it's Spain and Italy
Come watch the greatest battle of the century! Two horror icons battling it out for dominion and the title of the greatest monster to have ever lived! Watch it all take place in a barely lit room where you can´t see shit but that is maybe better because we don´t know how to direct fight scenes!
Too bad we'll never see Bela Lugosi's Dracula fighting up against Boris Karloff's Frankenstein Monster. That would have been legendary! Except it would be called: "Dracula vs.The Frankenstein Monster." Because you know.....Frankenstein IS NOT the Monster's name -_-
Speaking of animals being killed for film... Milo and mother fucking Otis.. That's right..the cuddly little kitten and pug puppy movie. They went through FIFTEEN puppies filming the bear attack seen. TWENTY kittens died including a cliff fall which is in the movie. To this day its still speculation.. But..come on now... It was a Japanese production. All I'll say is this... Chicken and cow folks... Chicken and cow.
The time frame isn't really all that surprising. Considering how long it was b4 we got Freddy vs jason. Even after they were owned by the same studio. If you do a little research (or watch a video of someone who did) you find quickly that horror films can be butchered pretty bad with their international releases. (Godzilla and Frankenstein in particular). With everything from the title itself to the movie posters that seem to advertise a completely different movie. I blame it on the fact that everyone seems to be ashamed of horror films. Studios, producers, directors, actors. Even some of the fans themselves. You come across a debate of the greatest film of all time. Do you chime in and say "citizen Kane" or give your real answer Jaws or jc's version of the thing....well thank God for October. One month a year it becomes opposite month.
