loved burke's comments about him at the draft only two things he said were "always risky trying to sign college kids" and "that's a small body" the game is changing burke...size isnt everything
I like Jack a lot. He has had a disastrous start to his career. I'm hoping the devils give up on him early and my canucks unite the bro's at some point in their careers.
Quinn was expected to be drafted by Detriot. The Red Wings were coming into the draft needing a defenseman. Quinn played in Michigan. He was Detriot's answer to their needs. But, an elite sniper named Zadina fell a few spots and it was either choose a sniper or choose a defenseman for Detriot. They picked the sniper. So of course Quinn would not be as excited to be chosen
the replacement for Edler as we can trade him now for maybe some picks As next year the next draft is in Vancouver Hopefully we hear next year For the #1 pick the Vancouver Canucks select Jack Hughes
This kid was a steal at 7th, he's at worst 2nd behind Svechnikov, but there are a bunch of players like Andrei. Huggy could be the next Lidstrom and players like that don't come around very often. I'd say he was the best from this class.
talesofsymphonia295 i understand why they did (want him to play next year so colorados 1st round pick from them isnt high) but its an awful philosophy to draft short term over long term
Cody Mah Tkachuk was still projected to be a Top 5 for some mock drafts, so it wasn't really a reach. Kotkaniemi's stock only rose cuz many believed Montreal needed to draft him for positional needs. I don't blame Ottawa for picking Tkachuk, but he definitely didn't have the most offensive upside.
Elias Petterson should've been 1st overall in his draft year and Jim benning got him at 5th. Quinn Hughes should've been 2nd overall in this draft and Jim Benning got him at 7. Great job JB is doing with drafting in Vancouver. Only if JB selected Matthew Tkchuck instead of Juolevi, Canucks wouldve had Boser, Tkchuck, Pettersson, and Huges 4 year in a row. Still Great though. If Jim benning ever gets fired, a rebuilding teams or a team looking to tear down should hire him right away. And another example is Boston. JB was the one in charge of drafting in Boston and look how they been looking for last 9-10 years
Thank you to the other teams that passed on him. Captain Quinn, thank you for restoring my passion for the canucks. I will shed a tear when you number gets put in the rafters.
Not saying small players aren't effective in today's NHL, just saying that they are STILL injury prone which is something that everyone is forgetting in this rush to draft small d-men.
