the movie that Ms. JF was talking about is "Die Beautiful" it is a 2016 movie that Mamwa Pao (Paolo Ballesteros) is the main lead it's about a trans woman who suddenly died after she was crowned winner of a gay beauty pageant and her friends who transform her into a different person on each night of her wake in a different location as a way to avoid being buried as a man by her father. It also tackles her whole life when she felt and dealt with problems and successes on living as a Filipina transgender as well as controversy in her family. There's also a scene that JF really resonates with.😭 I totally agree with u Ms. Val that JF really deserves that win in this ep. she DEVOURED! i remember way back 2020 i was watching her contents i laugh so hard not knowing she has this story and I'm so proud how brave she is sharing this to the world.💗

tbh, I still think Maxie won just based on the main challenge. LOVE John, but her group’s choreo was not together unfortunately. If you watch back, they only do wide shots a few times & every time the girls are all out of sync. The reason they didn’t judge them in teams is because Versex clearly did the worst in the challenge and did not deserve to be saved by her group. If they were judged as teams Maxie probably would have still won bc John was in the weaker of the two groups. Plus, Versex showed that she wasn’t going to play by rules in the mini challenge and production hates that

Perya(Carnival if translated) in the Philippines is slightly different from ones in the America, Perya in the Philippines has more games (betting games to be exact) than rides and i immediately understood the dress of maxie because the referenced game of that is the only game i like playing in the perya (that's the only game im quite lucky at 😂)
For me (and majority of Filipinos) agree that Maxie absolutely won this episode. She used color games (the most popular game in our perya/carnival in the Philippines) that's why Mama Pao said "very pinoy" "I got it instantly". And her challenge??? Her vocal prowess was out of this world (Yes she sang the high notes until the end of the song in their group) and she's a frickin good dancer!!!!! So well-deserved, Maxie!!!!

Versex has potential to be a likable person, I see it in her realness, they few glimpses we get. But it’s clear she definitely has some inner demons to fight from her last group of friends it sounds like. I say give her a few years and she’ll come back for some all stars season with more awareness and polish and eat down, because she has star quality imo.

People might not be as familiar with the Regional Girls, but they have tons of creative ideas and always find ways to be resourceful to bring their drag fantasy to life. 9:30 it's a common misconception that manila people have about the people from the provinces. I'm sure, in this instance, maxie was just throwing a little shade for fun. But it's a stereotype that a lot of manileños believe that the provinces are straight up jungles and rice fields. I've knows some extremely sheltered people who thought cars weren't a thing outside of manila 💀💀
Province is like the counterpart of “country” and Manila is the city. It’s like, manila girls are from NYC and provincial queens are from arkansas or utah or something like that. 😅

Mama Pao's character in the movie was g*ngr*ped by his crush and his crush's friends. It is a great movie that showcases the life and struggles of the LGBTQ+ community, especially transwomen. John is really a good queen but I think John just shine because she is on the weakest group but if she is on the other groupo she'll be on the bg while maxie still able to shine with those queen but tbh I thought Khianna is going to win

You asked why the Manila girls seem to look down on girls from the province and to put it simply, it's societal elitism and a mix of arrogance. Manila is the capital of the Philippines and is a highly congested city but with a lot of metropolitan features which tend to make them think they are above financially and intelligently than provincial people. When they talk about climbing trees and/or getting dirty/rough housing, it's cuz the provincial areas are perceived as rural or worse, barbaric (our country still has tribal people to this day that live in the forests). It can be far from the truth as there are large modern cities away from Manila but because of the societal look over the years, anyone not in the Luzon Manila region is seen lesser than. Hope this helped out but sadly, it's a form of discrimination/stereotyping that's tolerated til this day.
I'm thinking that Khianna is really strategic here. She chose the best girls for the girl group and 1 that she can lypsync against. So, no matter the format (based on group or individual scoring) she can get through.
I really think that Maxie deserves her win despite the safe runway. And, I think you got the reference of her runway its a board game usually found on Philippine Carnivals and Festivals. I even think its the most common game 😂 nevertheless it's safe at most. So it's very evident that her performance made her win. No one came close at her on that one (Khianna could tho) As per John, she's really got a good runway. She exudes a good energy and serves a good look on the performance. However I don't think the choreo helped her. Their group's low energy and weak performance didn't help her too. There's also nothing remarkable and memorable with her performance and lyrics. And I think that pulled her down.

Still enjoying Versex's storyline 'coz she's actually nice and supportive to her sisters. Did not expect that. Also, Maxie's statement about Khianna being a provincial girl is actually funny. It references to how most provincial queens grew with nature around them, climbing trees and such, unlike the Manila queens who grew up with pollution while climbing stairs lol

Maxie's outfit is based off a popular gambling game in peryas. It's a color roulette game and her headpiece was a pretty faithful interpretation. She also had a great verse and the best singing, so I get why she won. I do feel like Kihanna performed just as well and had a better runway tho.
TBF, I get why John didn’t win because she was the best from the worse group. Khianna and Maxie are the best of the best group so… I don’t think it’s crazy. If we’re counting runway, then Khianna should win

Maxie's look is inspired by a game called "color game" where you bet for 1-3 colors out of 6, then 3 dice will roll, if the outcome shows any of the colors you picked, you win. I'm not sure if it's originally Pinoy, but it's very famous in local peryas here and just like Mama Pao, I'm suprisingly good at this game as well😎

Agree! I think Maxie has the talent and the IT factor but she is overrated so far based on her performance on the show alone. Hopefully, she gives us that winner moment soon.
I don't think she's overrated. She won that girl group challenge. The runway? It's safe. And I think her girl group performance really pulled her up to the top. She got the most powerful vocals, simple yet powerful moves, and that lyrics babe! I think her girl group performance is a good addition to the iconic girl group winning performance. As per the runway, I think Bernie is the only girl group winner that has a good runway 😂 with this challenge, basing from S1-S3, it's obvious that they're giving more percentage to the main challenge.
Definitely not overrated. Her runways are a bit simple in their styling but I’m singing her viral song from episode 1. Maybe she needs to elevate her drag styling skills but she is very impactful within her skill set.
Myx definitely won the lip sync but I don't like it when they take their clothes off, unless they do something like miss Alexys vs Sabotage in Canada vs the world. Drag Races should cancel dips, queens are doing them worse and worse. ENOUGH OF THE BAD DIPS, they're going to break their backs.
Maxie hasnt wowed me with the runways so far, even with the first one I understand the reference but that outfit was so pedestrian. On episode 2 it was giving Jorgeous design outfit. Episode 3, the colorful outfit is mismatched with the hat and haircolor. I dont think Maxie has a good eye for fashion. She is extremely talented though.
Filipino here from the Provinces! (The same as Yudipota's). There's this sort of unspoken but recognized discrepancy between people from the Metro/Capital versus from the Provinces. There's this air of superiority because people in the metro tend to be better off, better provided for, and better educated because government budgets are more inflated the closer cities and provinces are to Manila, making Manila and its surrounding cities more developed versus everywhere else.
Love this episode!! I live for another banger girl group challenge episode from drag race Philippines! Runway was so amazing too, although I feel like the western audience may not get our concept of carnivals (more like a "fair" on the American side). I feel like this is the reason western reactors resonate with Khianna's look, while I lived for both Maxie's and Myx' look this episode. Don't get me wrong, I live with Khianna's look this week, but yeah. I wish more people live with the other girls' looks. Love yah Miss Val!
Filipinos evidently live for the drama. It is highly engraved on our love for telenovela and surely this episode is one for the books. DRPH’s girl group challenges have been a legendary challenges that everyone look out for, especially the catchiness of the song and lyrics. I must agree that this win is really for Maxie because of the highly-stylized lyrics and vocals. Plus, Maxie has helped almost everyone from her group. This is the true essence of Filipino Bayanihan ❤
I’m not saying Khianna picked Versex to get rid of her. But if I wanted Versex out, I would put her with the great dancers so that it would highlight more that she can’t dance. No shade though. I think she didn’t really do that.
IMO, Khianna should've won. In the main challenge, she came out with a high high energy plus the stunt? and that's PERFECTION. While John, she devoured in her group but i think khianna's better bcuz of the powerful entrance and the dancing skills. In the Runway, they both ate but they also both had busy looks but not that bothering. AND Im gagging in KHIANNA'S look why? The headpiece itself is perfection if u watch it carefully the way she spins her head ugh so gagged. In John's look it's literally the whole carnival and the mechanical thing is the one makes it stood up. Maxie, slays ONLY in the main challenge. PERIOD!
sameee my winner is John in this episode. the feris wheel, carousel, bingo, the balls and ducks for the kiddie games that’s perya right there! loveee Maxie’s color game idea but the colors are more like pastel/rainbow and the color game colors are like the main colors in the color wheel, then there are numbers which i don’t get in the color game since there’s no numbers in that game. For Khianna, my top 2, is more on Circus side and not perya but still so so good!
Re Maxi's comment during mini challenge: Most of the provinces in the Philippines are considered rural areas and not as developed as the cities (in particular Metro Manila) so its common for city peeps to sort of consider them hillbilly in a way, which is wrong but still very common nowadays
to be fair not a lot of people really focus on the fashions here in drag shows (or from what ive seen in clubs anyway, they only focus on your performance) so im not shocked that maxie won despite other queens having better garments

Ms. Val I think you kinda missed Versex’s point during her exit line. She said she doesnt want to be the It Girl anymore doesnt mean she doesnt want to be a good model or drag queen. She just said her priority right now is to be more human and work on herself mentally which is very valid.

I love this episode. I love the girl group challenge. And I most definitely love the runway category and some of the girls outfit presented. Sadly, I would have love to give the top 2 to John and Khianna, and either of them is the winner and they deserve it.
I always thought the runway for DRPH is just an additional point percentage to be added at the final score and majority of the score would be based on the Maxi challenge But I do think John had the storyline but In terms of verse and performance (individual & group) Maxie had a stronger pursuit.
My top 2 was actually John and khianna.... Based on the group challenge and runway...... I'm a fan of Maxie but for the past 3 episodes all Maxie runway look are just safe like there's no wow factor.... Just My opinion

Just an addition to that Maxie answer - there’s another context that is very important to point out. You mentioned “oh, they come from the same household, why the difference in the drive, in being cut throat” It is hard to explain but my fellow Filipinos will get it. I’m not saying this is applicable to all but here it goes - Maxie is FIRST BORN. He is PANGANAY in the family. It is only a concept that is clear to Filipinos. About what being a PANGANAY means.
This isn't a carnival theme in the western sense. This is perya. A Filipino type of fair where games and rides that are always a feature. Maxie's inspiration is called the Color Game, probably the most popular game in any perya. Runway-wise Khianna was definitely the best. But because Maxie slayed the maxi challenge and she had a pretty spot-on representation of the perya, she took this win. IMO, John and Maie were neck and neck. John's runway was soooo good.

Maxie's look is based on the Color Game while Myx's look is based on the Piso Game, both are Perya games, Perya is not like a typical carmival in other countries. there are many cultural references with this runway that they explain while walking, so just a friendly suggestion to read their explanations or search on google for the pictures, thats when you truly appreciate the looks ✨
Ver Sex is a sealed can but empty. She didn't do the assignment which is Perya meaning Carnival. And she always think her fantasy of being a model will make her safe in girl group that needed choreography.
Khianna, John and Versex stood out character wise in this competition. Khianna proving once again that she's a threat (and could've easily won this episode but the producer doesn't want to have a clear frontrunner yet) John managing to be a cookie cutter in a room full of cutthroats. It's hard to listen to her past and knowing how well she hide all the emotions in that experience and still managed to be the happiest person there is. John is really is such a ray a sunshine. Versex didn't start on the right track in the competition but she ended her track on the right finished line. I love the reflection exit line.
The correct translation for "Dapat Pakak" is actually "It Must Be Fierce" not "Don't Fuck It Up". Dapat = Must or Should be Pakak (swardspeak or Filipino gay lingo) = Fierce, Perfect, or Fabulous I think they translated it this way so that the cadence matches.
