Watch how this fellow starts the engine. This is the correct way to do it. This guy knows his stuff. Other RU-vid videos show people starting these saws dangerously incorrectly. Stand on the left side of the saw, pull the flywheel BACKWARDS. Let go before it fires. It will fire before going to top dead center, reverse direction, and run forward. Easy Peasy.
I mean, it would only fire like you say if in normal running it was time to spark after top dead center. For slow speed engines firing too early will stall them too easily because they can't move far enough to be at top dead center when the fuel has just burned and made maximum pressure. But deliberately firing after? Seems like something that I would do to bias the running direction of the engine to prevent it from ever kicking backwards in a stall. Is this why? What's any other advantage?
I live in Montana, or I would love to come to a show, my dad took us kids to these antique tractor and engine shows, my uncle used to restore them before he passed.
Awesome, I'm actually just now visiting a buddy in Idaho just 20 min from Montana currently. Well maybe one day can make it. Have any around your area, was surprised when my friend said they don't have any groups our club's (put they have lots of tractor and trucks pulls, we don't have many)
Should come to the tractor show this year, I took a lot home but the log was terrible, just split off in little chunks, was going to use them for signs but couldn't
Nope, this is the Vintage Farming Days in Lynden, held by the Puget Sound Antique Tractor and Machinery Assc. I believe this guy also goes there though.
What time stamp? This was at a tractor show so people were constantly walking around looking at the different machinery and displays. I may need you to further specify your question?
You could be right, but back in the day, this was much easier because you could walk away and not use all your energy all day long and be able to use this saw, in a real situation it would be actuall logs and problem running a little faster too. Hope you have a good day!! Thanks- Brady
