I like the part where we dragged enemies around, that was my favorite part. Series Playlist - • FtD 2021 Fan Run Lathrixian Discord - / discord Twitter for random posts of pets, real life, and potatoes - / lathrix
From what i understood in the Discord, the dev responsible for the campaign AI is still studying and is quite busy at the moment. They don't want to break the AI so they're just waiting for him to resume working on the campaign
23:18 Lots of structures in campaign use mimicked blocks for foundations so it looks like they're fully sticking to the ground, without them buildings look really odd on uneven terrain.
Does it have a name yet? If no, call it the Thresher Hag.The first part of the name because of the spin block mouth. The second because of Hagfish, aka sea life that borrow inside live prey to eat their organs.
Hey you do you. Mental health is important and you experienced a loss of a loved one. So take your time and heal. Thanks for the video and could you bring back the kornflack?
The Abhorrence reminds me of the modified Kobold you did in a previous campaign- it could be fun to make an exceptionally giant gun and then build a craft around it, Warthog-style.
What it reminds me of is the medringard, that long range tanky BEHEMOTH that lathrix made so long ago, even if outdated it still took on robbaz’s monsterous battleship and won
@@The_Racr1 Very true! I’ve thought about that ship as well while watching this campaign- It was more focused on being absurdly tanky, though, rather than about weaponry. The modified Kobold arguably had a stronger canon; definitely far stronger for its cost.
Now that you have tons of resources, I think it would be really neat to see you create a supercapital ship of some sort, just something absolutely immense and annihilatory.
You just take your time with videos. Your well being is more important than a consistant upload schedule. All the best to you and amazing work again as always
The weird stone glitchiness is a result of the mimic/decoration supports on the structure making them look like they are actually anchored in the ground. When they die, they pop up because they realize they've been stuck in terrain their whole lives... sort of like an ostrich who doesn't want to get ripped to shreds by fragmentation.....
hey lathrix i just wanted to tell you, youre doing a really amazing job. just wanted to remind you that your work is appreciated, especially with everything going on in your life. real life happens sometimes but dont forget to take care of yourself. we're here to support you dude
@@jmanharley9804 A little bird afaik has no spinal mounted gun, just two pylons, but nearly *every* attack chopper has four pylons (represented by the missile spam) and a spinal autocannon. A Pavelow could kiiiinda work, but I was thinking more like a Cobra or an Apachi or an MI-24
@@misspurdy27288 yeah its front and fuesalage is too fragile for a spinal. But it can be outfitted with GAU's instead of rocket pods if im not mistaken for strafing runs
This video is giving me lots of artistic inspiration. As for upload schedules, don't worry about it - we can watch other stuff in the mean time, you get yourself in better condition if you need to.
What might be cool (but also difficult) would be to always be at war with two enemies contemporaneously. So maybe you could be at war with the Lightning Hoods and the White Flayers at the same time.
Lathrix: claims he is going to use weapons he normally doesn't use. Also Lathrix: only uses missile spam, advanced cannons, and melee. "We've been tricked, we've been backstabbed, we've been quite possibly bamboozled."
I mean you use submarines which basically at this point cannot be hit yet you won't even think about touching combat space stations. I don't even remember last time you legitimately in a campaign or adventure series actually used a combat space station. Where is the lazers? Where is the huge single rockets? Where is the particle cannons? Where is the non rapid fire rail guns? Where is the cram cannons? You say that you are going to use weapons you don't normally use, then go and only use the weapons you do normally use
I'm really sorry for your loss, Lath. I know how it feels to lose someone close all too well... Take all the time that you need, I love your videos, but don't push yourself :)
Lath thank you for still getting videos out, taking the time you need for your life, and giving a reason as to why things have changed (I am really curious)..
For the sweeper, you could add a vertical spin block that goes the width of the ship right before where it gets larger so that once the sweeper gets wedged into the enemy ship, the slin block will be able to bore itself out
Lath, don't worry about having to take time off, this last year has been awful on everyone, take your time to mourn, you deserve it as does your family, hope you get back on your feet soon.
I liked the stage where each square had a garrison and you had to kill the garrison to take the square - it meant that as you played you were guaranteed proper fleet fights, rather than just many weedy attack fleets
Here is maybe possibly an interesting idea for a future play trough: Essentially bringing the endless mode into the campaign. You are allowed to build one vehicle to which you just add and frankenstein your way trough. You can make recourse harvesters at the nodes, unless you want to add the challenge(read tedium) of having to collect resources manually too.
Honestly, I like how the Mauler (Name for the Sweepy, maybe?) chews through the bottom of crafts with dragging the top half ontop of itself or itself ontop of the target. Not only does it mess up the enemy's missiles with some causing friendly fire, it also means that craft will be solely focused on a craft that's just about inside of it while any other craft can bombard it from afar without the risk of being shot at. Maybe the next craft can be something that is entirely firepower with minimal movement or armour but only medium range so you can really ham up the damage if you wanna go with the particle cannon, relying on the Maulers to tank for them. Edit: Or, you could make it some kind of giant cargo blimp that's got a lot of AA, small arms, anti-munitions and maybe some shielding on it and loads and loads of armour. Basically, this thing is designed to protect cargo in transit. Because so long as our guns can kill you before your guns kill us, we win! Whether that be dealing the bigger hits or withstanding more of the hits.
I’m sorry for your loss lathrix, keep your time. As for the fleet rambling, I completely agree with you. The campaign had always been on my bad side.(I’m a player since 2015ish) but I totally think the old campaign was better. Centralized materials and fleets would be better
The reason the small decoys work so well is that the main craft is rather small. Decoys have a ‘critical mass’ where when the radar strength is more than the vehicle’s radar profile the missiles will go for the decoy. At least I think that is how it works
Also: Please, take all the time you need and want. I am grateful but all the more astonished that you upload and seem to be your cheerful self. the important thing for me about the Lathland channel isn't regular uploads, but a healthy and (in its own way) happy Lathrix
That stone glitch is actually a mimic/decoration on the building to make it look more natural on uneven terrain AFAIK. But yeah, sometimes it can look a bit silly
An alternative to adding lots of body spikes and spiners would be melee PACs. even the most obscenely lower powered melee pac will do a lot of work if your vehicle is actually wedged inside an enemy, and their "chalkboard" opens some interesting options like having the beams move over time to ensure they'll cut it free.
I don't think anybody has any problem with you not uploading as much right now, as long you as you are "getting over the lost" Hope you and your family get better :D
The Sweeper melee could be more effective stuck in the enemy like it does now, because some of the ships turn over or get pushed away. Going through would allow for the enemy to hit the sweeper or other crafts, in the time it takes for the sweeper to turn around. Maybe a very simple, low range, fixed 500mm advanced cannon firing out the side where it gets stuck, could be a fun solution to blast the sweeper free.
I'm glad I accidentally clicked on one of your FTD videos instead of just stellaris. These are great! Also, I was wondering if you would be able to make a submersible aircraft that dolphin dives into it's enemies
Look forward to what you do for the conversions, simple weapons and small missile turrets would be neet, maybe the 3.7" Simple weapon, it's a really fun turret. Make sure to take what time you need and whatever length of video you need, we care more for your health than anything else.
lathland i cant fully understand what your going through but, im sure youll get through it, the vids can wait, theres no point putting out content if your heart isnt in the right place, take care im sorry for your los
Lath you need to play FTD multiplayer, i feel like playing against another FTD youtuber would be such a fantastic idea. Honestly would watch every second of it
so... i know this wont go anywhere but i just wanted to say because i know exactly how to have the experience balance itself out. stick with the base mode it has right now, where it spawns singular ships. but as ships meet up with eachother, they group up, slowly forming bigger and bigger fleets. the stronger and bigger an empire is, the bigger fleets it will create by the time it reaches your territory, while you'll still get slow but constant peppering's of small 1-2 ship attacks from the producers on the outer rims of the enemies territory. could even have group types that have slightly different ai controlling the groups movements patterns (not to be confused with individual ship AI). offence, defence, intercept, based on the average speed of the fleet and power scaling.
I was in the US navy i was thinking about using hydrofoils on a spin block and you can make your ship move forward and backward with just spinblocks and hydrofoils by changing the angle of the hydrofoils. It is similar to how warships actually move too. The shaft spins one direction but the blades can actually change angles to make the ship move forward or backward.
8:00 - Sweepy: Wins with tertiary weapon :D. - Lathrix: 'Not a great start'. - Sweepy: D: 11:35 - The fleets were much more entertaining to watch and made the enemy seem like a real threat. Single ships just look too damned easy to butcher. Just a series of even more lopsided duels the AI has no chance in. At least when there were fleets, some damage was practically guaranteed even against sub-par enemies.
Well for the campaign: Just make a scale where it is an actual difficulty scale so that you can have a massive reduction in the price of the AI ship production. That way they do not rely so much on the resource zones (but still will eventually run out if you take them all).
if you are planning on making a bigger ramming craft you should make something similar to the old chaos from the ashes of the empire but make the spin block vertical to cut chips in half instead
Craft idea: ocean crawler that shoot torpedoes with harpoons and pulls to the bottom where it has some rams on spin blocks you could call it the hand of the blood god :) also sry about your loss
Lathrix, I have the seed of an idea. Remember the Star Wars pod race things? Imagine a vehicle that is little more than a custom jet engine and a pair of harpoons facing backwards... with no friend or foe. Place behind it a craft to be towed. Might be fun.
