Here's how battles actually go as a fighter. Step 1: Confront enemies. Step 2: Block. Step 3: Have a wolf come out of nowhere to attack your back and stagger lock you until you get jumped by the enemies in front of you and also the other wolves that came from nowhere. Step 4: Hope your pawns kill the enemies while they're distracted beating the shit out of you on the ground.
I would suggest changing the attack buttons to the R1 and R2 buttons and the block to L2. This way you can move the camera and attack at the same time.
What did you map everything else to? I’m trying to get a custom mapping working with your suggestions, but it won’t let me because the vocation action is default R1/right bumper, and if I change it, then the weapon skills are clashing with it because for Xbox they use left bumper + X, Y, B, or A (or L1 square triangle circle or X for the PlayStation players)
@@naterodwell that’s good that it’s been smooth for you. I’ve been thinking I wasted $80 all morning because these videos I’ve been watching about the poor optimization… especially since I’m on ps5 too
You can Deflect every attack, with the exception of breath attacks, like from Drakes, Venin Harpies and the like. When you perform a True Deflect, you can stagger enemies much more easily, sometimes even scoring Knockdowns on boss monsters just by getting True Deflects on them. There’s also a ring that provides a bonus to Strength whenever you perform a Deflect, a bigger bonus on True Deflect (I think). True Deflects also make you invincible for a few milliseconds, so you can avoid other attacks as you do. Mastering Deflect can make you a one-man-army.
Perfect guard channeling skill can withstand breath attacks as long as you have stamina. But for the most part it seems like its a skill that makes it so you don't have to time your blocks and so you remain blocking while you're being attacked.
@@Madchimpz Deflecting attacks reduces stamina use, True Deflects cost no stamina whatsoever. Perfect Guard costs a LOT of stamina, and doesn’t count as a Deflect when you block attacks with it, so you cannot counterattack meaningfully from a Perfect Guard. It also only protects you from the front, anything to your side or behind you can bypass your guard. Deflecting any attack makes you INVINCIBLE to EVERY attack after the Deflect for a very short time. You also don’t waste a skill slot on a shitty skill that is extremely passive if you just Deflect attacks instead.
I haven't purchased yet, as I choose to wait. I know a lot of work and time goes into these videos and I appreciate it. They are incredibly helpful. Thanks.
Don't sleep on Counter Slash. Cheese deluxe. It's easy to pull off since it's a channeled skill. It can counter almost any attack of every enemy the game, and it deals stupendous damage. For example - it's extremely satisfying to counter a Minotaur's charge head-on, lob a horn off and stagger them at minimal stamina cost in one fell swoop. Gouging strike is a must for anyone who enjoys climbing on enemies. Target their weakspot for massive damage. Great way to mount a toppled enemy or plunging from a height right on their head. In my opinion, this is so integral to efficient and effective fighter gameplay, it should have been a core skill.
OMG IT’S OUT!! I’ve seen soo much and played 1 but just not sure what is holding me back… please help me decide 😩. Helldivers also still got me hooked. Especially the super credit farm 😢
Airward/cloudward slash is probably my best used skill. Damage might not be good... But the knockdown is absolutely incredible. I've been able to reliably knock down big enemies with a good head smack to get that incredible "finisher" damage / riotous fury on their head. The anti - Harpy part of the skill is a total bonus, as thiefs have the rope, mages and sorcerers have their magick, and archers... are archers. So that part of it is really not necessary as you'll basically always have a pawn who can deal with that for you.
I don't understand why so many people are complaining about the microtransactions. It's the same crap they offered you and the deluxe edition if you don't want to use it, just don't buy it and move on you guys act like it's a multiplayer game and your opponents are going to have the edge on you or something.
no righteous onslaught? it’s personally my favorite. stamina drainer, but easy to connect entire combo and take half a dragons health bar with one button
the fighter has enough defensive capabilities, you should be able to equip their best DPS skill. risky to throw out in the middle of fights, but it's perfect for when the boss is downed. triangle does a ton of damage to downed bosses, but it seems you can only do it once, so now you can do a ton of damage twice by doing righteous onslaught first.
5:41 You skipped Full Moon Slash?! Why? Does Full Moon Slash no longer have invincibility frames (i-frames). You may want to study the effects of the skill. 8:45 getting staggered in this game is very dangerous. It is best to equip skills that have i-frames along with skills that gets you out of stagger.
don't quote me on but it seems like they did away with attacks for all the classes, for better or for worse. I think you only get s from skills that are some kind of counter or dodge, like hindsight slash. personally I prefer it because I just spammed full moon slash nonstop in DD1. there's more variance now.
I’ve only played about 6 hours so far and what I notice most is how quickly you can become overwhelmed by multiple enemies. Sometimes there’s a lot going on and at the moment my character is weak. When did you start to feel like your level was high enough to manage the world easily?
I think the key is to get a better sword and shield and upgrade it soon. Then equip more skills and augments and make sure to camp to get bonuses from food. Your party comp matters too: make sure you have a good mage
And they were there in almost every Capcom game for the last decade. I think they're also like one time boosts too, not infinite currency. Regardless, I'm sick of it overwhelming every conversation instead of the real problems. But it's like without Shark Cards to buy or V-Bucks to waste money on people are suddenly getting butthurt about really low key ways to support a good game we were lucky to get. Nevermind the fact that almost everyone misunderstanding what a fuckin port crystal is.
While I agree, just don't buy them, that's missing the point. A consumer can ignore MTX, but a game designer can't. In order to sell something, there must be a need for it. So, some of the arduous game systems may have been designed specifically to sell DLC. All players are negatively impacted by that design decision, regardless of whether or not they open their wallets.
They literally weren't. All of the arduous game decisions are the same as the ones in the first game. And as stated, all of the items in the cash shop are not only available in game, but with one exception (port crystal) extremely easy to get.
Dont forget if you just double tap block when your being atacked, you can counter and then normally line up an attack to finish most smaller enemies off. Nothing as fun as countering a minitaur each time it charges at you and you take no damage and lose no stamina
Okay I am new to this game, I did not play the first game..I got sucked into this DD2 by a friend who played on PS5 .. I am on PC and loving it I have had a few minor crashes trying to increase the FPS and turn on my 40series tech like frame generation etc.. My question is in game's like Baldur's gate you can multi-class Fighter/Mage Mage/Thief etc does DD2 allow for this or are the Vocation's their own thing? I can't seem to find a straight answer anywhere. I picked Fighter and I like it but wanting to know if I should stay only fighter or if I can mix vocations? I'm guessing multi-classing like I am thinking is not an option? I've just unlocked mystic spearhead but nothing else other then the one offer at the start of the game.
Can you be a fighter without a shield ?, not the warrior vocation you can later access, i haven't seen anyone play as it yet, but its displayed in the art when the 4 fighter avatars are shown, to the right, i'm guessing if you find the fighter weapon that doesn't require a shield
That fighter on the end has its weapons sheathed, so it's shield would be on its back. Also the fighters gameplay style revolves around it's perfect block system doubt there's ever gonna be a shieldless fighter style.
thanks dude, this has had me on a never ending search to see if I could, before switching classes to warrior avocation, although small as a detail it is, makes or breaks the next avocation I'm going to put time into @@EXP234
i'm really having fun with my little laptop pc , sur the frame can be better and i think it will be bether , but i dont understand the microtransaction hate , it's mostly useless things under 2€
That ogre at 0:50 : "DROP KI- SHIT THATS A RIVER" *fucking drowns* 😂 I've had this happen so many times already that its my new stratagy for ogres that i dont need the materials off.
Most fun I've ve had with a game in I dont know how long. I enjoy 60 fps, I enjoy smooth and consistent ganeplay with no jank. This is not this game. To me, it honestly doesn't matter. The fun im having exploring this world knowing my choices have real consequences and there's no save scumming to save me. I normally obsese over making all the right choices in every situation in a game and it honestly ruins the fun for me. Knowing that choice is mostly taken out of my hands has given me a freedom to just play, make mistakes and accept mistakes like ive never experienced. I'm not an OG DD player so nostalgia is not playing a part here. Just enjoying the journey. Thanks for all the guides and supports! You've gotten my hyoed for this game beyond belief and the hype has been real!!!!
Did the New Zealand trick on my series x last night. First time DD player so just gunna enjoy an hopefully not over complicate it for myself. Might just pretend it's a soulsbourne but thats probably gunna end bad
@@tevinhicks7285 That's the thing, I'm always a solo player even in Elden ring souls etc, I don't pvp, Co op, so pawns might put me off. Only played till making pawn bit then went to bed
I'd argue thief of all characters is the ultimate tank because of how broken formless feint is, which basically makes you invincible for most of the fight. it depletes your stamina very slowly and depletes at the same rate no matter how much you auto-dodge. I don't know what the devs were thinking.
the most Honorable way to complete original DD playing as, Especially when NO PAWNS-HARD MODE Fighter is been my fav Vocation aside of course Mystic Knight and Assassin i did enjoyed to do a King Gaiseric /Skull Knight from BERSERK roleplay as Fighter i hope i get to do it again some day in DD2 i see you in the way too Mystic Hybrid Fighter for Simon Belmont
I have finally enjoyed Fighter... ...after slapping it with Warrior skills on a warfarer and using the strength collected as warrior to just use core skills and shield bash on trash.
Does this play like Dragon Age? I have been loking content about this game and it look so similar to Dragon Age Inquisition (i played like 5 hours and almost die of boredom) Can someone tell me if this is the same? I don't like npc companions and absolutely hate mmo style gameplay about spamming skills on cooldown...
Thank you so much, Fextra! The game itself is wonderful, but the optimization problems, sadly, are present, and brother the negative hype train will be unstoppable at the start
@@BigPurpleCarrotbad performance is incredibly subjective. I personally know 8 people with vastly different setups that have been playing the game on PC all day with zero issues.
I made my arisen to look like me and I’m short so I made him short. lol last time I was a strider/ranger so I wanted to be a different class. I don’t really want to be a thief. I was going for the warrior. Guess I can just buy the metamorphosis time with RC, and make him taller.
I'm 5'8 but I forgot what that is in cm so I made myself 173 instead of 178 and it's been kind of bugging me how short my character is, but it also adds to his charm. almost every male character is taller than me lol.
Dragon's Dogma 2 review bombing is funded by Sweet Baby Inc masters (because the game specifically only has 2 genders) The performance is fine and far from broken (it is not spectacular but also not horrible) The DLCs are a fake issue as all purchasable items can be obtained for free via gameplay (all Capcom single player games have such microtransactions on launch, ALL OF THEM : all REs all DMCs etc etc)
@@Lobus_Frontalis85 hindslight slash/sweep, it's a dodging counter move, but it always sends you back towards the enemy to attack. so you have to use it wisely. they intentionally made every class have different defensive abilities so that they're varied. fighter relies on blocking and countering. thief has multiple ways to dodge. warrior has fuckall but 2 very hard to time counters, so you'll be tanking a lot of hits.
It’s good for pummeling a single enemy but I find it kills your stamina way too easily, and you can have almost as much success by simply shield bashing and pressing triangle when the enemy staggers.
Yes it's bad. You can watch our review and beginner guide, or this and make up your mind. I have had zero crashes and performance was poor on consoles 30FPS and 40-80 on PC (some dips under 30 at weird times but not often)
I have i7-8700K CPU @ 3.70 GHz RTX 2080 Super. Playing in 3440 X 1440 UW DLSS - Balance Sure i dont run on max setting, But the game still look damn good to me. 50-60 Fps out in the world, Some time drop to 45 Fps. 25-35 Fps in camps & Town. Plan to upgrade all my hardware later this year, But no rush right now 🙂 Kindly.
That's so awesome. Reminds me of the Painted Box Turtle my dad brought home one day after work. He accidentally ran over it but it turned out to be fine. We ended up keeping her as a pet. Her name was Boxy
How to you get fire sword and shield, I was on an ox cart and got attacked at night and my sword and shield set on fire, but I don’t know how it happened.
Can someone please explain to me why i can’t dodge roll i know its in the game ive seen countless clips of people rolling as the fighter can somebody please tell me what im missing or doing wrong
Iv been playing its really fun game but it's screaming for help I mean the video quality am sorry this should been in 60 fps ather then that I got no complaints but 1 no lock on but ather then that beautiful game
