Reviewing Dragon's, 1/35 scale, K5(E) "Leopold" German Railway Gun, model kit, No. 6200, originally released in 2003. This reviewed kit, includes a turned metal barrel, and appears to be a later release, possibly from 2011 (?).
This is one of the largest 1/35 scale model kits reviewed on this channel (so far). Once assembled, the length of the railway gun, itself, is 86cm (34"), with the embankment section stretching the completed model to 109cm (43") in total length.
As well as the metal barrel section, this kit also includes Photo Etch grills, and exhaust shrouds, 6 crew figures (Dragon's "German Artillery Crew, Kit No. 6201, also released 2003), the track and railway embankment (Dragon's "Railway Track w/Embankment" Kit No. 3825, released 1997), to display the gun on, 2 types of shells for the gun, string and chain for the gun's railings, and a decal sheet for the K5(E) railway gun "Leopold", one of the two K5(E)'s, used by German forces to oppose the landings at Anzio. Known collectively as "Anzio Annie", or, the "Anzio Express".

Hi Pete Great review mate. I’ve always wanted to get the kit, but room is always an issue with a display case as a necessity to prevent the dust 😢 Enjoy your build and thanks for sharing your video presentation ❤😊

Same here. Space, and price, were always the limit, but, the price was right, and, I now have the space (just). Have a couple of projects to finish at the moment, and then, off we go.... and yes, there will be build videos on this beastie. Cheers mate!

Great kit. I was very fortunate to see and climb on Leopold back in 1995 at the Aberdeen Proving ground when they were still open to the public. Sadly they have closed and all the tanks have been moved to other locations. I have this kit. This is a huge kit and you will need a lot of space to display.

Yes. It's a shame Aberdeen's no longer open, it was on my bucket list to visit long ago, since they had so many rare and unique beasts. But, I still have the Atlantic Wall museum and their K-5, at the Pas de Calais on my "to visit" list! Cheers!

Super cool kit. Love these big boom sticks. Would love to build this but have no idea where to put it afterwards 😅

I know what you mean. The box alone takes up the space of a dozen "normal" 1/35 AFV kits. But, I've managed to squeeze in another shelf, so the plan is to start building this beastie very shortly. Cheers!

Great review as I just picked this up from my club meet yesterday. You mentioned Trumpeter has a version of this too. Do you have any recommendations on PE sets, etc. that will make this kit as detailed as Trumpters?

Thank you. Glad you liked the review. Yes, Trumpeter has their own K-5, Kit No. 00207, (released 2003) and Eduard does/did make a PE set (#35678) for that, but, not for this Dragon K-5, and as far as I know, no one does. However, since they are both 1/35 scale, both K-5's, chances are that Eduard's Trumpeter PE will fit this Dragon kit, but you may have to make some adjustments or allowances, for the any differences, but from what I've seen, this set is mainly small details, so it should be fine to use. While it won't make Dragon's gun as detailed as Trumpeter's (there's a huge part count difference just in the bogie sections), it will enhance it. Hope this helps! Enjoy the build! Cheers!

Field grey at 7.45 is for the crew uniform. The gun would have been painted panzer grey till 1943 then dark yellow.

The funny thing about that is that the only reference to the crew figures is the assembly/painting guide on the side of the box (3:01 in the video), and there's no actual colour list given for the paints required for them either, only paint numbers. So I checked the actual instructions again (it's been a while since I did the video) and the Field Grey shown in the colour list is the one Dragon suggests for an early war K5 in the paint guide section. Thankfully we have the internet, Google, and a whole heap of reference guides, to correct such odd painting suggestions. 🤔 Cheers mate!
