Varric "The fisherman story, you thought he gave up right?" Solas "Yes?" Varric "But he went on living. He lost everyone, but he still got up every morning, he made a life, even if it was alone. That's the world, everything you build it tears down, everything you've got it takes and its gone forever. The only choice you get are to lie down and die or to keep going. He kept going. That's as close as to beating the world an anyone gets" And this is why I love Varric so much. I believe he will be the one that helps in Solas's redemption.
Honestly, I think that thing he saw; that it somehow resonates with him, but that he's unwilling to see just how much. Solas himself is very similar; he is constantly working towards the same thing, using the same tactics of befriending, subverting the truth, using people, and never really letting anyone close enough that they might affect him; might change his mind about his course, and somehow, his fascination with someone who is strangely alike himself, led Varric straight to him. If only Solas could accept that he has to change course or he will lose the last thing he has left; the very reason he fought in the first place.
This reminds me of an old movie quote "You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! "
"I don't always mention about the veil" After the ending, I bring Sera and Blackwall in my party and she said something like "hmm, the veil here feels woobly"and he replied with "are you sure it's not wibbly?" Everyone miss solas 😭
Varric's line "Orzammar is what it is." just to me underlines something. Orzammar is what it is; it is what it *was* and that's how they want it to be, or at least, so, so many of the ones with power. I'm sure if the casteless could decide they'd want some changes. Also, "I'm not much of a gambler *anymore* ." I want stories about gambling days Solas.
