This was the BEST "Kiai" moment in all of the Dragon Ball continuity in my opinion 💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥! This is why Tien is one of my Top favorites in all of Dragon Ball

Goku and Chichi's ages vary based on where you look, but most have them around 18-19 during this fight and around 23 at the beginning of the DBZ.

Chi Chi had been waiting for Goku to return for like 8 or 9 years (I can't remember if Goku trained for 2 or 3 years with Roshi, then 3 years wanderings before the last tourney, and then the last 3 years with Kami and Mr. Popo.

It’s stuff like this that makes me sad that says the fighters got power crept so hard right after original Dragon Ball. Hopefully Diama fixes this and doesn’t just focus on the sayains

It’s so satisfying to see Tien put Tao in his place and move on from the Crane School. A perfect end to his arc.

Tien was misguided from the start and was taught by the teachings of the crane style but with brutality and incapacitating his opponents or even worse taught him how to cheat or even attempt to kill, from his battle with Jackie Chun and even acknowledge Goku as a worthy fighter that Tien decided to take matters into his own hands and prefer to defeat Goku rather than kill him. It was through those battles that got Tien see the error of his ways and while Tien respects his master and the teachings, he realizes it's not the path of rightness and with the king piccolo situation, he became helpful and a valuable member of the group. Since then, he has apologize to the ones he hurt, learn how to cherish life and the world around him. Goku's strength and determination to get stronger while stand in the way of those who want to dominate the world has motivated Tien to get stronger and hone his fighting skills making him a asset to the team and throughout the dragon ball series

One of my favorite things Toriyama did was set up or bring back a character that looks like they’re going to be a serious problem, and then have them get absolutely curb stomped. And Tao’s ass whooping is one of my favorites.

My headcanon is that Crane hermit was in the audience that Vegeta blew up during the Buu arc and wasn't revived by the wish to "revive everyone who died since the tournament except the really bad people." We didn't see him, because he was keeping a low profile as per Tien's instructions to not show himself in front of him.

The Tournament is every 2 Years, so if we assume one year for the first arc + the Training with Roshi, it's been around 7 years since the Series started, give or take a few months as a grace period.

Master Shen sadly wasnt wrong, Tenshinhan didnt die a peacefuk death, he was disarmed.

I've been rewatching DBZ lately (just reached Cell's first appearance) and tbh I'm now 100% on Chichi's side most of the time. She goes too hard on Gohan for his studies, but everything else is like "yeah, she's right!" (eg she's right to freak out about her FIVE YEAR OLD son travelling to another PLANET or being taken away by THE SON OF KING PICCOLO lol) Also, she has a lot more sweet moments than I remember, like when Future Trunks said him coming back to the past didn't accomplish anything (cause it doesn't change his timeline) and she said she'll be forever grateful to him for saving Goku. And she has plenty of moments caring about Goku and being sweet to him (she cooks like crazy when he's sick, just cause she knows he'll be hungry when he eventually gets better).

Hi great Dragon ball reaction Tien taking down Mercenarie Tao was satisfying But you also feel sad for Tien at the same time because Tao and Shen were both his Master Even though Goku Krillin and Yamcha and the other became a much better family for him Shen and his brother Tao where still his first family I can't imagine how Tien must have felt at the end And Yamcha was a really good friend in that moment tilling Krillin to go esey after Tien won the match

Sensu beans can heal broken limbs, thru'n'thru shots, massive losses of blood, but never for some reason that scar on Tien from Mercenary Tao in this Episode. Don't think it ever explained in the show why not, so guess that is anime logic to give him a recognisable look (although I'd say the 3rd eye already had that covered). Look at Tournament of Power in Super or, if you have to, GT and he still has it, after countless post-beatdown sensu beans.

Tao spent 10 minutes rethinking his life choices, because he couldn't find any clink on Tien's armor. Then to save his face (because he said big words before) Tao hypnotised himself into thinking that he was superior to Tien. Of course he still get curbstomped!!! ┑(￣Д ￣)┍
