BLT dub has a special place in my heart. Rented all the vhs tapes from the library back in the day. Also, "Gotta Find that Dragon Ball" is still the best into imo.
2 Things: 1. It's actually Monica Rial's Normal Voice so that's how she natrually speaks when she's not Imitating an Adult Bulma Voice. 2. It's pretty likely that Monica is going to be using her Natural Voice on Kid Bulma in "Dragon Ball Daima" just like how she did with Teen Bulma in this OG Dragon Ball Movie.
I know it's a joke, but Bulma's actual Italian voice is much better than the English dubs. I'm talking about the Italian dub, not the big green dub/ap gurop. @@mr.noprobz3412
3:55 - 4:02 Yep, this is likely going to be Kid Bulma's Voice in the *"Dragon Ball Daima"* Anime coming out in Fall 2024, due to the Fact that this is actually Monica Rial's real normal Voice so it comes to no surprise to see her not do an Imitation on Adult Bulma's Mature Voice in DBZ Kai and DBS anyway.
Yeah for an English dub from the late 80s it's surprisingly good and that's saying something since a lot of anime English dubs from the mid to late 90s have kinda aged like shit compared to this
Leda Davies - Alberta Zoe Slusar - Alberta Lalainia Lindbjerg - British Columbia Maggie Blue O'Hara - British Columbia Saffron Henderson - British Columbia Sharon Mann - California Wendee Lee - California Colleen Clinkenbeard - Louisiana Barbara Goodson - New York Tiffany Vollmer - New York Stephanie Nadolny - Tennessee Monica Rial - Texas Jodi Forrest - Virginia The Ones That's The Most Consistent Are The Canadian Voices Of Bulma & Goku Since All Are From Alberta & British Columbia The Ones That's The Most Inconsistent Are The American Voices & British Voices Since None Of Them Are From The Same Place Sharon Mann Is From California But Dubs In British Dub (UK) Wendee Lee Is Also From California But Barbara Goodson Is From New York American Dub (US) - Harmony Gold So Shouldn't Goku Be Voiced By Someone From California Same Can Be Said With Funimation's Dub As We Have Monica Rial From Texas Yet Goku Voice Is From Tennessee So It's Really Confusing That The American & British Dubs Aren't Very Consistent For This Scene From The Anime & Movie While The Canadian Dubs Stay Consistent For This Scene From The Anime & Movie So Yes In My Opinion Canada Has More Consistently Even If Bulma Has Two Voice Actors In The British Columbia Dub At Least Both Are From The Same Place And I Can Hardly Tell That The Voices Are Different When It Comes To Casting, Directing, Voice Acting & Others. So Those Are Just My Thoughts On The Different Dubs Have A Good Day.
The second BLT Bulma, I knew I recognised that voice, Maggie Blue O'Hara played Kitty Pryde in X-Men Evolution. Next to Kirby Morrow and Scott McNeil from the DBZ Ocean dub, that's three common actors between X-Men Evolution and a Dragon Ball (Z) dub
While I do like the Funimation dub, it's comparing the other three, the BLT is probably the best of them performance wise, the Harmony Gold one is more stilted (sounds better in the movie version than TV version) and as for the Blue Water/Big Green dub.... with Goku's voice in their dub of the TV show, sounding like he's going through puberty, and Bulm...I mean Blooma's (can't resist using Big Green terms 😆) in their dub of the film version? She sounds like she's in her fifties/sixties, not in her teenage years. 😆
There’s something about Dragon Ball having multiple dubs that take the characters in different directions that I actually quite like. I know a lot of people would ideally want only one dub that covers all the bases, but I think it’s kinda sweet that there’s multiple. Like they all paint a different interpretation of the same story, each taking a different angle. Dubs aren’t translations, they’re in a sense adaptations of the original anime, like how a movie is an adaptation of a book.
BLT? The second dub was a bacon, lettuce, and tomato? Actually, now that I type it out, that sounds normal for Dragon Ball, especially with the Saiyans.
Not just that, but if you saw Funi/BLT's 94 Test dub of Curse Of The Blood Rubies, they were actually gonna use the Harmony Gold names for the characters (Zero, Lena, Sedaki) along with some other silly name changes (Oolong/Mao Mao being renamed to Chester, and Puar/Squeaker being renamed to Prudence). But when they started doing the series, they decided to just use the original names for most of the characters.
@@MTMfilms2They were going to use the HG names for trademark reasons. Once they could trademark names like "Goku" for the North American market, they dropped the HG names.
It's not as prevalent in this video, but Funimation's 2001 dub of DB also used recycled scripts. There's a ton of verbatim phrasings, not to mention, dub-only lines and jokes that are straight out of Harmony Gold's dub.
BLT is the "1995" version? I mean ive seen it. Just been a while. (Guilty pleasure with the edit and rescore.it was my first exposure to the first series).
Why can't there be an English dub that actually has Goku sound like a cute kid?! Its definitely possible to speak with a similar tone as his Japanese voice in English, are there any dubs that successfully do this?
Colleen clinkenbeard 100% does not put on enough rasp on her voice to be a decent goku/gohan Considering how much they had to base the voice direction on that's a horrible disappointment
Guess they only focused on trying to match the high pitch Japanese voice originating in Kai for Gohan and Goku instead of the established dub style of voice for them that's been around already. Shame really
Why do Goku and Gohan have to sound raspy though? That wasn't a characteristic of their voice in Japanese, and none of the other dubs try to make them raspy, if you wanna make an argument for continuity fine, but it's not like Goku and Gohan not sounding raspy is inherently worse, in fact I'd argue it sounds more natural, especially for Gohan who's supposed to be kind of a dork.
Funimation dropped the ball hard. Their BLT dub, and their 00's dub was so good, but their modern curse of the blood rubies dub just doesn't hit the same, like those Kai actors just don't fit the characters, (Goku sounds too much like a girl, and Monica Rial just doesn't fit Bulma's personality imo) and c'mon man "His chest bumps are bigger"? Seriously? Just stick to the script and mention the tail. Modern Funimation just sucks all across the board....Literally all of these actors/dubs before modern funimation are better except AB Groupe, but that's not saying a lot.
Tbh I personally didn’t mind Monica Rial (except when she has Bulma yelling in the script, that feels like nails on a chalkboard though I guess it’s on par with Bulma’s personality) but she does *not* fit a Young Bulma at all with that voice, same with the new Kid Goku voice actor because Stephenie didn’t wanna come back (or did she get fired? Hard to tell, Funimation has genuinely been involved in so many abhorrent allegations against their actors that I can’t stand them anymore. Looking at what they did to Vic.) But yeah I liked the BLT actors a lot, personally felt they did better especially that Bulma over Tiffany Volmer’s.
