Facts Gt was lit & smoke shenron is my favorite eternal dragon. Mostly cause he is the only one with a personality. Besides the 1 time super had OG Shenron terrified of Beerus. That shit caught me completely off guard lol.
The death of Akira Toriyama is a tragedy but it's great to know he can rest in peace knowing the Dragon Ball franchise is able to continue even without him. The fact is now that Super has been added GT is considered non cannon part of different timeline but it's still a great anime in its own right and with DB under the control of a new artist the series will just keep getting bigger and longer for generations.
Yes I fully agree. The current Mangaka in charge of the continuation of the DB franchise was trained and moulded by none other then Toriyama himself. The franchise is in capable hands. Toriyama’s legacy will continue on for generations to come 🕊️
@@raytaku_ Now all we have to do is get ready for the new Dragon Ball Dima anime coming out later this year. The plot does seem interesting enough seeing all the main characters turn into kids and fighting new enemies I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I honestly enjoyed dragonball GT and think that it's an underrated part of the dragonball franchise. The Japanese version is the best way to watch the series. Also, despite what the Funimation dub would have you believe, GT was set 5 years after the end of Z, not 10 years.
@@raytaku_ Yes. I enjoyed the Funimation dub of GT, but sometimes it says things that completely contradict what's happening in the story. That's why the subbed version is the best way to watch GT.
Severely underrated creator. Detailed overview of all our favorite tv series in the early 2000s. Appreciate your hard work. Easily earned a sub from me
A know a lot of people just write this off because it's so different but it did do a few things right super sayin 4 was awesome this is the only one until super hero where the characters actually age the baby arc and the concept of the dragon ball's being different types of dragons omega shenron was pretty cool why is this the only one that gives them consequences for over using the dragon ball's that's actually something dragon ball super needs to do in the future
@@raytaku_ The dub never says it's been 10 years, nor does the original say it's been 5 years. The 10 year thing comes from fan rumors that predate GT's dub (though Funimation did use that number on their website a long time ago). Likewise, 5 years comes from official guidebooks released after the series ended. If you're not looking at outside material, just the show, then GT gives no concrete date on when it takes place, probably because the writers themselves hadn't really considered it down to an exact number when making the show.
Yep. As always, nice breakdown on the pros and cons. when i was i kid i always think that this was the definitive end of the series. Until the internet came and toxic fans came in. I didn't falter and always believe in the series. The show mixed the adventure theme of the old Dragonball and the awesome fight scenes of DBZ. And now that DB Daima is within our reach, i feel this comes full circle with the GT storyline and that Toriyama wants to have the GT connect with the main DBZ/S universe ultimately destroying the canon/non-canon ramble of the fandom. Thank you Toriyama! Your work will live on for generations to come❤
I enjoyed this thank you. GT wasnt my favourite coming from Z. Going back to DragonBall hunting around the universe with a nerfed goku wasnt what i wanted BUT it did have its good moments. I agree that when bad things happen in Z they just wish them away no consequences. Thats what i like about GT that there are proper consequences. I would have preferred if Z ended at the cell saga (i believe that was the orignal intention but i could be wrong) it just made sense with all the build up of gohans hidden power from the very beginning and goku being dead. Buu saga kinda just ruined that part a bit, goku and vegeta reaching ss2 then goku with 3, gotenks (ugh) also reaching 3, ultimate gohan was cool but didnt last long, and then kid buu who is just another cell really who copies moves and regenerates Gt villains werent bad, the major ones being Baby, super 17 and omega shenron. I like how through each arc there is progression with the world. Like the dragonballs cracking, the earth showing signs, elder kai hinting at the overuse of DragonBalls Super saiyan 4 is just peak design to me, it makes sense with how saiyans are and i dont think any transformation will ever top it. I'm not a fan of super, God, Blue and ultra instinct designs feel like recolours more than anything Super saiyan 4 gogeta is my favourite just the strongest character in any dbz media, it's great I do like the ending, it wraps up everything. No more DragonBalls, no more goku. End of the series. The ending got me when i first watched it. Hit me in the feels seeing that everyone passed away and goku saying goodbye with the montage
I’m glad you enjoyed GT. Post Cell Saga, Toriyama intended to have Gohan take up the mantle of MC. But, fans both domestically and internationally didn’t take well, so he retconned Goku back into the story which is why that entire last Saga was a mess. There’s something special about GT, I can’t quite put my finger on it, but some things stand out like the music, the art style, the sense of adventure and tone of the show overall. I hold GT near and dear 💯
Aww, it's a reupload, all my comments are gone from the other one. I don't even remember what they were about but i remember it was a conversation about something.... Oh well. Happy the video is still up anyway
I watched the entire video. I just wanted to say I hated GT. It was horrible and I’m glad it’s not considered canon. I liked your review though. Would be interested to see a follow up
@@raytaku_For when I wanna finish watching later on. YT can only carry one bookmark at a time. So if I skip to the overall thoughts now I won't lose my place when I come back
My personal issue with GT doesn't have anything to do with canonicity of the series. What disapppoints me is that GT had some good, even great concepts, but terrible execution. The Black Star Dragon Balls seemed cool but because there was so little foreshadowing, they feel so tacked on and out of place and despite being told from episode 1 that not collecting the BS Dragon Balls in time would result in Earth's demise, the space adventures aren't treated like a race against time like they should. Baby and the Tuffles could have worked as a good sequel to the Eradicate the Saiyans OVA but that's barely mentioned. Plus, it kinda seems too biased against the Saiyans and tries to portray the Baby's actions aa justified, even though he's pretty much doing what the Saiyans and Frieza Empire did. The Super 17 story happened way too late, in my opinion. At that point, the Androids kinda felt like a lesser threat and this would've been a better enemy suited for Gohan, Goku and Trunks, nkt Goku. Also, killing Krillin again? Come on. Finally, The Shadow Dragons. I'll admit that they looked cool and the idea of the Dragon Balls being turned against the Z Fighters sounds great. But it was handled so poorly. They're supposed to be punishment for "misusing" the Dragon Balls... but they never really misused them. The Z Fighters only ever used the Dragon Balls when they had to, not just whenever they wanted. Not only that, but GT tried to go out of its way to say that using the Dragon Balls in general is bad but that goes against the whole idea of the series. Magic is just like any power, it can be used for either good or evil depending on the person.
This videos a reupload 🙈 I know it’s taking ages to get more videos out including Xros Wars, my apologies. I appreciate your patience, I’m chipping away at the next set of videos for the channel with whatever free time I can spare 🙂
And also, are you going to cover Xros wars with Young Hunters who leapt through time? Or is Digimon Young Hunters who leapt through time a separate video?
