A mode that allows you to play as Hercule fighting through the Cell games against the Z fighters and Cell. Game: Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 Gameplay Recorded on: PS2 Platforms: PS2, NGC Release Date: November 2, 2002
Yeah, this game has a stupid thing where if your ki bar is less than the amount needed to transform, you revert back to your previous forms. This makes sense for the Saiyan characters, but for Freeza and Cell it doesn't. Thankfully they fixed this in Budokai 3 where Freeza, Cell, and Cooler stay transformed permanently.
Hercules is actually pretty good in this game for his easy to chain combos, dynamite kicks, and physical attacks on first hit, as well as having 2 easy to link ultimates
I kinda wish there were more modes like this where each battle had different stipulations to fulfil. In the very least it made this mode feel unique. Also I like how the first person to lose to Hercule is, as per fashion, Yamcha.
Funny you should bring that up. One of the later Dragon Ball Z fighting games has it so Yamcha is the ONLY character who suffers a 1-hit K.O. if on the receiving end of the Saibamen's self-destruct move. Yamcha even ends up in the same position as he did in Dragon Ball Z.
@@DatwonguyHD no, even though he's weak compared to others yamcha still has super strength and can use ki unlike hercule, put some respect on his name.
actually what happens is that he gets knocked out and someone *nobody knows who because they didn't show us* put him in his bed after that he woke up and he thought it was a dream well the movie that was made of hercule beating cell may not show the real way he beat him but he did *this is a alternate deminsion where he does beat him*
God this mode was so good. My favorite memory is actually a more recent one. Drinking beers and just destroying every one as hercule. Played it through twice. Then proceeded to get all skills except for 1.
***** those capsules are designed to shrink things down and in the process make the item lighter yea but fitting that bomb into it is strange did he go to capsule corp and get something that can hold a nuke then put it into a capsule I am questioning his method of placing the bomb
I've played Budokai 1 since was a wee little lad. Last night was the first time I decided to dust it off and relive some old memories. I was pleasantly surprised by this mode, after all those years, it wasn't until last night that I finally unlocked it. Plus having Great Saiyaman as a playable character is also just bizarre. I had no idea who Hercule was and didn't know how to unlock him, I knew he was playable though because he was on the game's box cover on the back, and he was in a cutscene for a moment. When I was younger I believed DBZ ended at the Cell Saga because since I didn't have the Cartoon Network channel at the time, playing the games were the only way for me to know the story and characters. DBZ Sagas and Budokai 1 were the only DBZ games I had, and both end at the Cell Saga, I wonder what I would have thought if I had unlocked Great Saiyaman back in those days, probably would have freaked me out, hehe.
yeah I watch the show but the great saiyaman was gohan it was scary becuase hes not on the game the only reason the buu saga is cancelled due to little character select becuase it might mess up the game
I realized a long time ago that this game made no sense; you transform into higher forms and it costs you Ki energy. If anything, going into Kaioken or Super Saiyan should cause your Ki to increase. But instead, this game makes using your character's full potential a handicap.
True but like in Goku's super saiyan 3 form. He was able to spar with Majin buu but he exhausted too quickly. Their strength and defense is boosted but their Ki (or stamina if you wanna get technical) is draining at a fast rate. How much energy do you think Goku was burning when he was facing Frieza? lol but I agree with you, I honestly wished they didn't severely handicap you in the game. Goku had the best boost in strength and defense but after he turned Super Saiyan, his ki succckkkkkkkked. And perhaps they made it that way so not everyone was Vegeta and Goku while leaving Gohan, Yamcha and even Hercule never touched.
this was done as to keep the game balanced as Super saiyan goku is actually one of the most powerful transformations. you get a boost in strength and defence but the higher you go the more Ki is drained, in budokai 3 they did something different where the Ki can stay at a certain place (not drain) depending on the transformation/character making the game really unbalanced and ruining hercule.
I will always love hercule cuz despite the whole fandom knowing how he is they all choose to act like someone on dbzs earth and praise him as the ultimate warrior... than again a lot of people do it for yamcha too
So nostalgic :), I loved this mode as a kid but always found the cell jr part hard. Used to fail there all the time, the first time I finally got past it I beat the whole thing, I was so excited lol
I remember absolutely loving this game and playing the shit out of it when it first came out. This mode here was an awesome 'What If' scenario with Hercule.
the art of combate "give it your all and take them down quickly make your final attack a BIG ONE dont give them a chance to fight back keep calma even it you re cornered keep your chin up even if you lose train hard and try again"
Some know that he won the tournament but it wasn't as hyped because there were no spectators because of Piccolo. No one really knew it was Goku that killed King Piccolo except for the King.
The sad thing about Hercule is, he has at least some combat skill. He beats an unaltered Spopovitch at least once and did so in one hit. He then stood up to Kid Buu and lived. He has balls on top of his deteriorated skill.
In the context of this story anybody else found it hilarious that after hercule beat trunks, Vegeta, and piccolo, cell probably got scared enough to create 5 cell jrs.
