Infinite world is the best 2D Dbz game, it's basically Budokai 4 and a direct upgrade in almost every aspect, I truly believe the main reason it didn't get enough love is because it's not named "Budokai 4"
I truly am not a fan only because beam clashes and world tournament is gone other that great game really it just that it took very fun aspects and threw it away
The developers wanted to make DBZ Infinite World more based on skills instead of luck (like the Dragon Rush) or brutals mecanics (like beam clashs and burst clashs) but of course everyone love beam clashs so it was a shame to remove it
This game come out very late in PS2’s lifecycle and everyone was moving onto the PS3/360 so not surprised this game didn’t take off. But I couldn’t afford a new console back then, very underrated DBZ game. I played this more than BT3 back in the day
I'd say it makes more sense to compare with the Budokai games rather than Tenkaichi. That is on par with comparing Clash of Ninja to Ultimate Ninja Storm. Two entirely different experiences. Not that I'm saying it isn't okay to prefer it because you like 3D fighters more or vice versa with those preferring 2D ones. But it is strange to "compare" them.
@@Medachod It may seem strange, but my comparison was made taking into account only the story mode, at that time I didn't pay much attention to the combat system and stuff, I was that kid who just pressed buttons and had fun, that's why I preferred to play Infinite World, since it had a greater variety of levels, like the Snake way, catching bubbles, or training the Spirit Bomb, as well as training Goku in his spaceship or in the chamber of time, that was what made him so special to me.
The problem I had with IW is that it felt rushed. In the sense that you wanted more from it. While I enjoyed the gameplay additions plus the capsule system, the lack of beam struggles & tournament mode was a sin. They removed some characters to add some (better) ones; however at this point you expect a more reasonable amount of new characters: 19, Zarbon, Dodoria, Cui, Burter & Jeice, etc. B3 just had a vibe that IW wasn't able to get in my opinion.
For as much as I love IW, saying it's rushed and unfinished it's still a compliment. Game is broken, borderline unplayable, with shitty minigames and a totally messed up fatigue system. Which is a shame, considering the rest of its gameplay was really really solid.
oh, its the doctor himself! i do agree that IW is brutal for casuals like myself, but the removal of RNG dragonrush and improved capsule system + aura dash make it alot more interesting than B3.
I can't believe that I was one of the people who bought this game brand new. I thought I really felt like I was playing Buokai 4 at the time. Literally everything about the game is better than 3 (with the exception of the music and some of the charm, but even Infinite World has it's own great tracks) The character models, the gameplay and the overall vibes you get from playing this game are unmatched though and I implore any Budokai fan to try this game out. I'm not lying when I say that when it comes to combat - it outclasses all of the Budokai games
The very last Dragon Ball Z game on the PlayStation 2 back in late 2008 from 15 years ago. When I went to Target store, and I saw Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World on the shelf. So I picked it up and buy it for $40. I hooked it up on the PS2, and it was good but it was a complete different from Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3. Dimps took out hyper mode from Budokai 3, they took out dragon rush qte sequence during gameplay, and they took out the World Tournament on the main menu. Which I don't know why they took the World Tournament out in Dragon Ball Z: Infinite World? The story from Dragon Ball Z, GT, and DBZ films were good, the cutscenes were good as well, but the mini games were lackluster during story mode. They've added brand new characters such as Goku (GT), Vegeta (GT), Pan (GT), Super Baby Vegeta 2, Super #17, Syn Shenlong, Janemba, Pikkon, and etc. So I was we can play Baby Vegeta, Goku (GT), Pikkon, and more in a Budokai game. Where as Budokai 3 only let you play as Kid Goku, Kid Uub, Cooler, Bardock, Broly, Omega Shenron, SSJ4 Goku, SSJ4 Vegeta, and SSJ4 Gogeta. Which its also good too. But I think they could've done a bit better for the last DBZ game on the PlayStation 2.
they removed world tournament since you earn $$ from all your fights in the storymode and fighters road. its basically a fusion between shin budokai/burst limit and budokai 3. its not a perfect game, but i've still had alot of fun with it over the years.
Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1, 2 and 3 (Not to be confused with the Budokai Tenkaichi series) are the best Budokai games because they have breakthrough capsules in them. In the later Budokai games (Shin Budokai 1 and 2, Burst Limit, Infinite World and Dragonball Evolution), the breakthrough capsules were removed and that sucks.
this was my first DBZ game ever and man is it fucking good, played it for so long as a kid and tried my best to 100%, i then got Tenkaichi 2 and Budokai 3 but did not enjoy them as mutch as Infinite, if anything i hated them lol
7:15 its a well known fact that the dev's forgot to adjust the difficulty. Pretty clear oversight, even on Very easy , the fights against Kid buu and Shenron are insanely hard for casuals like me. I still have fun with IW, but it has some small downsides that prevent it from being as good as B3
The music of Budokai 3, beams of Budokai 3 (including beam struggles), with the added features of Shin Budokai 2, that would be perfect. Still hoping for a Budokai 4
While the motion capture of moves, their speed and physics are clearly an improvement of Budokai 3 (and heck, even Tenkaichi 3 and Super DBZ), the gameflow/ "gameplay loop" of the single player experience of *Infinite World* is much worse. You just keep unlocking these disjointed story events, and there's little sense of ever immersing yourself in DBZ lore -- a feeling of joy and immersion/ atmosphere that Budokai 3 actually managed to pull. And only using some basic 3D overworld with voiceover work for the story thrown in for good measure, which only goes to show that in order for Infinite World to _truly be complete_ it wouldn't need much. The fact we have zero new stages with all of them being 1:1 carried over from Budokai 3, with changes in the background music in the Story Mode being the only difference (with the OST and stages being the exact same in VS) makes this game feel like well intentioned patchwork. Infinite World needed at least half-a-dozen new stages (not that much tbh); changing the lighting/ time of day of the Stages from Budokai 3; changing the music of some of the stages; bringing back the 3D overworld (again, they could have just changed the time of day lighting to keep it feeling fresh); polishing the menus (which look very uninspired tbh). *^^^* Adding the above would have made the final game we got feel much more satisfying, and it wouldn't have required much more than 4/6 extra months -- maybe even less, considering in the 128 bit era, entire fully featured games were often created in less than an year.
I mainly played Budokai 2 and love it. Followed by the HD Collection with 3 on Xbox 360. I've never realized this was "Budokai 4" for such a long time, and now that I'm buying PS2 games for myself that I loved and owned on GameCube, I'm frustrated to never have played this. It's worth $100 CAD now, and I noticed it two or three times, but once again, completely forgot what it was, neglecting it for the price and thinking it wasn't the original Budokai I loved. Although, I could get it on PCSX2 one day, but that's for away when I build my first PC. I would still like to try it, but I might still love Budokai 2 the best. Looking at the gameplay though, I don't love it... I'll try it on PCSX2 one day.
This game my friend is definitely the best of the budokai series. I am sorry that it was rushed and underrated because it was released around the time that DBZ Burst Limit for ps3 released so alot of persons paid it no mind. If the devs had named it Budokai 4 it would have made more waves. But i guess they didnt because they knew that it was rushed. Otherwise the game mechanics are the most solid and the AI in this game will destroy and break you till the point you will never want to play again and i love it !! Definitely should have considered moving it to the ps3.
I would love it if Nintendo where to get this game just playing this game on the switch would be totally awesome. I wish Nintendo would buy the rights to this game.
Considering how close it was, and how similar they feel on an Xbox controller. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was in development around the same time as burst limit.
The problem with infinite world it felt like you came out of nowhere and I didn't realize it was the sequel to Budokai 3 like I had all the Budokai games I had Shin Budokai and Shin Budokai 2 and then Infinite World came out barely no promotion for it so I didn't know what it was trying to be I thought it was just trying to be another you know quick Dragon Ball Z game in between the ones that we wanted because at the time we had so many Dragon Ball Z games and I'm kind of sad I missed out on Infinite World you know cuz then Budokai Tenkaichi came out then Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and then Budokai Tenkaichi 3 it just got lost in the shuffle honestly.
The dumbest decision in video game history was NOT calling this game Budokai 4. I remember as a kid loving the budokai games and me and my friends played all of them faithfully but whenever we saw infinite World on the shelves we ignored it because we thought it was a spinoff game with different gameplay. Im pretty sure many kids did the same growing up hence why its so forgotten, fact is a lot of us didn't know this game was Budokai 4 in everything but name.
Am i the only one who didn't have any difficulty with this game? I remember my first time playing the game on hard difficulty till i bought Very Hard and Z difficulty and played all the game on that difficulty even the many games it was quite the challenge and i loved it
@@TheMahayanist I couldn't agree more The Gameplay is fun and quick seriously improved from Budokai 3 Missed the beam struggle in the game tbh Cut scenes so clean And I like the addition of some new Alternatives Ultimate Attacks
Got this game my sophomore year of high school in 2012 second semester it was a pretty solid better roster even if it did back me wanna rage quit at times 😂😂 still enjoyed unlocking characters with my bros in this game
This game got a lot of unnecessary hate, but in reality was better than all of them in a lot of ways. If you think about it, this game combined the Budokai 1 and 2 story mode style with Budokai 3 graphics and Shin Budokai ish gameplay. The best of all worlds lol.
Infinite world came out hella late along with burst limit IW took the mechanics from the psp games and brought it to the ps2 combat was fun but took awhile to get used to
I will admit that the game looks fun, but sadly I'm not the type to enjoy mini games. I would probably not have liked playing the game much if I owned it.
I think people forgot about it because it released 2 years after the PS3 released. I think by then everyone hopped over to the Halo/COD/Bioshock next generation of gaming. I remember I bought the game but I was just so into the new games that were coming out that I forgot about it. I honestly think 2008 was a legendary time for gaming so many good games came out around that time.
I was hardcore plugged into Dragon Ball and Video games in 2008. The fact that this flew under my radar is astounding. I actually only found it when I was, years later, researching the PS2 library.
Let’s be honest. If they overhauled this for a ps3 release. This woulda coulda been one of the best dbz games out there. But the fact they shoved it so late in the ps2 life.
