I edited the Kai dub and sound effects into the Ultimate Tenkaichi cutscene, and used a new song. I used the Ultimate Tenkaichi animation because it flows better with the song and it can't be taken down for copyright. Enjoy

This scene makes me cry. It shows Goku’s devotion to protecting everyone and the earth. Giving up your own life like that is something only the most noble and true hero would do.
For real. The first time, against Raditz it'd be a bit less scary because Goku could be revived with the dragon balls. But here, Goku had already died and the dragon balls can't revive the same person twice. Goku knew this was it, if he died here he wouldn't be coming back to life and yet, he still sacrificed himself with no hesitation.

I watched the original run I remember watching this scene I sort of knew what was going to happen once goku had the smile on on his face, I was not emotional at first after cell came back and Gohan and cell had their final mega Kamehameha there a was sense that fight had not ended. Once cell had been defeated or vaporized, it was only then that I broke down and cried like a baby knowing goku would not be returning
Yeah. It's really sad. 😢 I bet his wife ChiChi and his son Gohan were the first two people Goku thought about when he decided to sacrifice his life. ❤ Even to this day, I can't help but fight back tears when Goku says what he thought was his final goodbye to his son Gohan. 😢
Goku is a real dude. When cell was powering up, goku literally was thinking of what can i do to save everyone. Hes probably the most unselfish hero of all time. When you dont care about dying that is a very dangerous person.

And in the japanese version leaves a huge scar in the heart, when Goku wanted gohan apologise for him always being selfish. Despite always leaving his family, goku still cares about them 😢

FriezaDBZKing69 I never considered them kills. I felt every bad guy Goku defeated got K.O.ed and woke up next week, just like Launch when Goku once kicked her into next Tuesday. The Red Ribbon saga, however, is a touchy subject. While Goku was indeed the main instigator for the war breakout at the Red Ribbon main base (and probably would've spared lives had he chose not to invade them), most of the casualties are due to friendly fire & the pure incompetence displayed by the Red Ribbon Soldiers

I see a lot of comments saying “why didn’t goku do this or that” so it should be clarified that: 1. Events in dragon ball happen very quickly, the reason that it looks like it takes one minute for cell to blow when he only said ten seconds is because they can’t fit the dialogue that happened in that amount of time. The increased time allows the editors to add more dramatically enhancing dialogue to what is a selfless and heroic sacrifice. People are also saying that he could have just teleported back to earth after dropping off cell but: A) He’s not a dick, he won’t just drop cell and ditch King Kai. B) like I said there was no time, it is elongated to add dramatic effect 2. The reason why Goku went to King Kai’s place was because of two reasons; he can only teleport if he has something to lock on to (meaning he can’t just teleport into the middle of space), and it was the place with the least casualties (he could have went to new namek but he would have killed all the namekians). Just thought it would be nice to clarify that Have a nice day 👍
niam mohammad No, what i meant is that they STRETCHED what was 10 seconds into a minute so that people could get the effect of what this scene means. It’s the main protagonist of the entire franchise dying. Imagine how stupid this would be if it was 10 seconds. You would have no time to process what’s happening
and also in the manga when goku instant transmission to king kai cell exploded immediately, i agree with about stretching the duration to make the audience process what is happening but that should work only when goku is taking his farewell speech to gohan and his friends the cell exploding part should be instant like in the manga. that's why people are so confused over this scene why goku just stands there not doing anything while cell is charging his exploding like instant transmission king kai, bubbles gregory and himself if you read the manga it makes more sense.
Indeed it does. It has a very sad, but also very serene and surreal tone. ❤ It's bittersweet because Goku's saving the world as usual. Sadly though, he had to pay a terrible price this time, the price being his life and King Kai's as well. And let's not forget Goku did this knowing that he couldn't be revived by Earth's dragon balls a second time, since he already died once before. Goku's done some very brave and heroic stuff, but this was arguably his bravest and most heroic moment. ❤
Check the description. This is the voice acting from DBZ Kai with the animation from Ultimate Tenkaichi. I did this because they redrew this scene for the game but the voices from the game didn't quite sound as good as they did in the actual show. So I synced up the Kai audio with the Ultimate Tenkaichi visuals.
Yeah. Goku saying goodbye to his loved ones, particularly Gohan was the saddest part of all. 😭 And I'm sure as he was briefly contemplating his sacrifice, his wife Chi-Chi and his son Gohan were probably the first two people he thought about. ❤ And he knows if he dies again, he can't be brought back to life again, as he's already died once before. But he nonetheless goes through with his heroic sacrifice for the sake of his friends, his family and the earth at large. ❤ That's truly heroic and noble. 🥲

And you made this scene so well, it fits so well, its perfect, looks like it was made for this scene. Great job. Some years ago i had my own version here on youtube, but i had to remove it (and i think it fited well at the time too, with Devil may cry 4 ost). Hope nothing happens to this one.

One thing I love is Trunk's reaction. The second he starts speaking, he already knows what he is thinking of doing. Future Gohan acted the same way towards him after all, like father like son. I can't imagine how shocking it was so see the person you've wanted to see for years that everyone loved and phrased, sacrifice himself like your best friend did. Not only that, but having to go through it again. The trauma Trunks is put through in Dragon Ball, jesus.
Yeah. The original Dragon Ball Z gave him the best reaction. He knows what's about to happen and even though it's the only alternative to the earth getting destroyed by Cell, he much like everyone else, especially Gohan and Krillin doesn't want Goku to throw away his life. And much like everyone else, he's powerless to stop him. Very sad. 😢
This shattered my heart into a million pieces! 💔😭💔 I always found Goku dying to be very sad, but this one especially broke my heart. 😢😭 What makes it worse is that even though it was quick, Goku's second death was still a very hideous one. It wasn't just one explosion, there were several. And watching Goku be disintegrated was scary. 😰 Even now I get chills. (;ŏ﹏ŏ) With his first death(as uneasy as I was when he was blasted with the special beam cannon), he at least got to hang on for a little while longer before he died surrounded by his friends. Even if he was in deep pain and fading fast, he was at least comforted. No such thing here. And what was the most painful part about it(aside from poor Gohan being devastated by the heroic death of his father 😢😭) is that he was actually hesitating for a moment. It's almost like you can hear him say in his mind "Should I really do this?" But once Goku saw his friends and remembered his son Gohan, any doubts and sense of hesitation he felt instantly disappeared completely. In fact, I bet his wife ChiChi and his son Gohan were the first two people Goku thought about when he decided to sacrifice his life. ❤ Because he knew that his friends, his family and the world at large are always worth paying the ultimate price. And he knew that if he didn't do anything, the earth would get destroyed. 😢 Sure, he didn't completely think this all the way through(what with the King Kai of it all), but he saved the world and the billions of innocent people on it from immediate destruction. ❤ Some would argue that it was in vain due to Cell coming back stronger than ever, but I disagree because in the end, Cell was destroyed by Gohan. ❤ And while the original Z made it extremely sad, Kai softened the blow somewhat with the heroic music. Watching this sad moment with this tranquil music though made it feel like a fever dream. So tragic and yet so beautiful. And if there's ANY consolation from this, it's the fact that he died a hero. And it's also the fact that Goku would eventually be brought back to life again and FINALLY get the happy ending he deserves. 💖 In any case, Goku's second death by heroic sacrifice will always have me fighting back tears, but it also will always remind me why I love Goku so much. 💖
The animation for Super is limited by its insane production schedule. There's a reason that the BoG and RoF movies had significantly better animation than their anime-arc counterparts- because the movies could afford to take a little extra time without compromising the entire schedule

You act as if the later half of the series is the same as Episode 5. On that note, Super used THE SAME design as UT, by Tadayoshi Yamamuro and look how well THAT turned out. Added by time constraints and you got Ep 5 then pretty much the entire ROF arc. Is this subjective bias or just plain hate boner?
That heroic smile always hits me right in the feels. 🥲 Goku knows what must be done to save the world. But he just wants to look at his loved ones one last time before he goes off to perform his heroic sacrifice. ❤
This looks like it was from Super. Man, his smile just makes me want to cry. He was SO PROUD of his son, despite his overconfidence nearly costing them everything.😢😭

Indeed it does. Say what you will about Goku, but there's no denying that he's a true hero. 💖 He claims that he's not a hero, but actions speak louder than words. And his heroic actions speak volumes. 😇 And as sad as they are, you can't help but admire his heroic deaths. ❤🥲❤ That's why I got so angry when Cell not only survived the explosion, but also mockingly told everyone that Goku died for nothing. And that's also why I was mad that annoying Babidi tried to unleash Majin Buu onto the world. 😡 And on the ONE DAY that he was allowed to come back no less. He essentially made Goku's decision to stay dead seem pointless. 😒 But that's also why I was so happy that Goku was able to come back to life and FINALLY got the happy ending that he deserved. 💖
Only thing i can say to all of this, is that Goku is a god to everybody. The fact that he doesn't even hesitate when he says hes gonna sacrifice himself is godly by itself, but the fact that he is able to hand out words of encouragement makes it all the more touching, sorry to have destroyed your ears in this lecture. :D
Poor Krillin indeed. I can't imagine watching my best friend throw away their own life like that and being powerless to stop them. 😢 And this wasn't the first time Krillin had to watch Goku die either. He was literally by his side, holding his hand when he died the first time. And it really says a lot about their friendship when Krillin doesn't want Goku to throw away his own life even though it was the only way to save Earth. ❤

So did I. I think a small part of me knew it was coming, but I was still hoping for some miracle that didn't involve a hero dying, especially our main hero. Sadly, that wasn't the case. 😢
This is where Goku should of stayed dead and Gohan takes over. The earth could of been at peace for a while. Gohan could of went to school and did his great sayainman thing until buu came and he gets serious.

Somehow this lines up with every version of Goku. He was acting selfish by assuming Gohan likes fighting instead of just blasting cell’s entire body to bits the first time and ended up realizing that as Gohan’s sayain genes Started getting in the way of him killing cell. Upon realization he starts thinking on how to fix this mess and realizes no matter what he does, he has to give up his own life to stop cell from destroying earth. Goku originally was actually quite selfish mainly ending up saving the world because of wanting to fight strong people or being hungry. He’s not a heartless monster as he spared frieza after he begged for mercy on the exploding namek but he still didn’t take the time to learn his son due to the thought that he liked fighting despite him actually not liking it at all. Keep in mind Goku only sought to kill tambourine because he killed krillin. If that never happened, Piccolo (and by extension Kami) would have died of old age. Despite his selfishness, Goku knows he made a mistake not killing cell and intends to save everyone out of guilt. You can see he clearly does as he smiles to the Z fighters. He knows his best friend has to go on without him and protect earth but he’s fine with that as he spent time with his family and friends for a long time. Goku in the dub is more selfless but he still acknowledges this as a “I messed up so I have to save everyone or die trying” situation. Goku is truly a sayain warrior and the Earth’s true savior.

Agreed. And let's not forget. Goku bonded with his son Gohan from the very beginning. Same deal with Goten when they met for the first time. 💕 Piccolo also was quick to bond with Gohan. Some people debate on whether Goku or Piccolo was Gohan's true father, I say Gohan has two fathers. ❤ And as for Vegeta, he may have been rather harsh with Future Trunks, but he must've cared for him to some degree if he was angry about Trunks' death to the point that he tried to kill Cell. 😊 And he was actually a good father to the present Trunks, if a little reserved. One of the last things Vegeta did before he sacrificed himself was hug his son. ❤ And I don't think I need to tell you about Goku's sacrifices or Piccolo's sacrifices. Say what you will about Goku, Piccolo and Vegeta, but there's no way ANY of them can be seen as bad father figures. 💕 Especially if we're looking at it by Saiyan standards.
It's for a game and is a much shorter scene than lets say AN ENTIRE EPISODE and i bet they have a much better schedule so yes of course its going to look better lol
