If you play dbz kakarot and you have maxed out goku and vegeta's combo from dlc 1&2 and if you press circle goku does a kamehameha and vegeta does a one handed ki blast barrage. But if you spam cirlce 1 sec after goku did the kamehameha then he wil double it (by double i mean burst Kamehameha). For vegeta if you spam circle after he did the one handed ki blast barrage he will use two hands and launch an even powerful ki blast barrage (those combos will still take your ki).

I don't think it's has anything to do with the timing. The 1st time you tried is out your characters were not on the same level. You should try is again when they're both in their base form.
