Yeah the game sucked ass, but when you go super saiyan in this game you feel it. The power and speed increase as well as all of your energy attacks looking twice as big, there are few dbz games that make the transformations feel so substantial.
Yeah but if I remembered correctly the basic enemies before the boss got stronger that it forced you to be in super Saipan form just so that it could have that same feeling of difficulty in the first play through
This was the first dragon ball game I beat as a kid when my big brother told me I couldnt do it, society says it sucks but to me it’s pretty lit just enjoy it for what it is, not what it could/should be
@@bulletspenetrate503 I guess the one who never played those were really you because those games always had future gohan with his arms. He just fought as if he had one arm.
This game really wasn't that bad, I actually really enjoyed playing it when I was younger. The ONE thing I probably hated about it was trying to transform was SUCH a pain in the ass to do. You literally had to keep fighting and fill this huge ass meter up just to be able to transform, and it would drain ridiculously quick and then you would have to do it all over again. It was ESPECIALLY worse when trying to turn ssj2 as gohan.
I actually really enjoyed the challenge of maintaining ssj2 with a combo. Although i agree for super saiyan , the meter could have drained a bit slower.
i actually thing ssj2 gohan is a really fun character, his design is that in normal battles you can keep ssj active very easy by making combos, and once you get to the boss you just fill the ssj2 bar and probably just win the fight with ssj2
My favourite part about Sagas was purely the fact I could use Future Gohan with 1 arm!! Was awesome. Other games just don’t do it. Other than Kakarot lol.
@@bulletspenetrate503 oh no I have played all of them. Purely meaning he had only 1 arm the only other game from memory to include this that I have played was Kakarot’s Trunks DLC.
Always loved how unique the character selections was, like using so many diff forms of the same character. (It always bugged me how Vegeta’s scouter was green)
Yeah, I think that's one of those things that happens to be great about it. It just happens to have been really hit or miss, and very buggy overall. Just for my full longplay video, I had to replay several stages over again because the next segment of a mission wouldn't activate. But then we also get an awesome soundtrack and lineup of different characters... Sorry for the rant, and thanks for your comment! :)
I always enjoyed doing Warp *insert special move here* to all enemies. Once I found out you could do that, I never bothered to do cqc anymore. Made the battles more explosive! 😂
Very true! I could swear that as a kid, I was able to do that really well. Now after replaying the game, I feel like I'm much worse at it than I remember.. Just couldn't get the hang of it this time around..?
All characters with special attacks Kamehameha: Goku Teen Gohan and Yamcha 0:53 7:36 18:15 Galick Gun: Vegeta 2:57 Mazenko: Kid Gohan Teen Gohan and Future Gohan 4:46 7:11 9:46 Special Beam Cannon: Piccolo 11:35 Burning Attack: Future Trunks and Future Teen Trunks 12:50 15:00 Eraser Cannon : Broly 16:04 Final Spirit Cannon: Bardock 16:53 Destructo Disk: Krillin 17:36 Tri Beam: Tien Shinhan 18:48
Awesome video! Been wanting to replay this to relive some old memories and this definitely motivates me even more. It may be considered bad but it's a guilty pleasure for me LOL
Yeah, I agree in a sense. I think including Buu was critical. I checked really quick and this game came out almost TWO YEARS after Buu Saga aired in the US, so it was extremely weird not to include. But I think with a little more polished gameplay and Buu, this would have been received MUCH better..? Thanks for your comment! :)
Yep, but I always hated how much of a pain it was to do. And good luck doing Super Saiyan 2 as Gohan. I mean, I tried it, it's possible in pendulum mode with the bosses you're not supposed to transform against eg Raditz, but it feels like... It's just sooo much work lmao. Thanks for your comment! :)
Sorry for late reply, but yeah, I remember getting really good at spamming the hell out of them as a kid, but I couldn't manage to do it as skillfully when I played through it in these videos... Not sure why tbh.. Thanks for your comment! :)
True, Kakarot sort of feels like if this game and the GBA Legacy of Goku series (and the third, Buu's Fury) had a baby. On the other hand... Would you be mad if I'm not actually that entertained by Kakarot? I dunno, it just doesn't do it for me tbh. I would literally rather another 2D overhead Legacy of Goku game...
@@longplaylegends Different for everybody. When Kakarot got announced I thought they were going to make the Dragon Ball equivalent of a Storm Game. So I anticipated battle mode as well. If it had a fight mode like the Storm games do it would be way more playable. The DLCS keep it alive for me only for a short period of time. Sagas because of its music and old graphics and what not gives it a way more nostalgic way of playing Dragon Ball making you want to go back to it.
I never noticed after all these years that the difference between both Saiyan armor variants of Trunks was that one was Ssj and the other was Super Trunks
This game has a lot of flaws but one of the things that I love most about it is the attention to details they put in. It’s really a game for hardcore fans of dbz. It’s not in xenoverse that you will see gohan with piccolos cape or a buff trunks. Seeing trunks with the jacket he wear for literally one panel in the manga is insane. I wish dbz games had that much attention to details
god i remember this being my first exposure to dragon ball, my brother didnt know much more but he'd tell me all sorts of stuff like yamcha was actually adult gohan and tien was adult krillin and i thought super saiyan had that short ass time limit in universe so broly was not the legendary super saiyan, but the never ending super saiyan
DB Sagas is an Underrated Gem, It got hate for not being a Dragon ball GTA , I understand that, people expected that because it had false advertisement, BUT, The game it is is pretty fun like when you do supers it slows down time, You have to admit thats pretty cool , AND when you unlock all the moves and stuff the combos actually are there, NO its not an open world game , not at all, But what it is is not as bad as the Dragon ball community has made it out to be for years. OH and when you use the cheats to play all the levels and have all the characters unlocked and stuff is super fun
This game could have been good but they messed it up...badly. Also they could have made the characters better. They all look like they trying to hold back a s***.
Yeah, I think it's basically only "passable", but I wonder if it were any series other than DBZ if I'd have tolerated it, even as a kid. I was a huge fanboy. And LMAO they kinda do! Thanks for your comment btw. :)
they didn't mess up THAT badly. at least the basics were really good. some people just wanted more from the game and i'm not sure if that's even fair from a new type of game. the first one is always rough. They should have tried Sagas 2 and see what people think.
@Blurr-vf4cb It has a bit of it yeah, but more of the first game, where it's largely linear but there are still those side objectives etc. Honestly, I'd love another in the LoG series, even in 2D. There's a fan game and it plays well, but no updated story etc. Best 3D LoG is DB: Kakarot, which is still fun, but felt stale only into Frieza saga for me. Just something about those little GBA sprites man...
I wouldn't say my best, not even close. But I still think it's pretty fun to play and not as bad as people make it out to be. Thanks, I really appreciate your comment! :)
Love this game as a kid and actually enjoyed re-playing it years ago. The only problema I have with it is.... it's called Dragon Ball z Sagas... and it doesn't have all the sagas.
I have to imagine it came out during the Cell Saga in the US, but in that case... Why make it at all..? I agree, that was a poor decision. Either that or they were like "It's gonna' be another few years before they put out the dub, so might as well just release this now? Very strange... Thanks for your comment! :)
It's because this game was just made to get extra money, you can see how rushed it was and how little budget it had just to see the cutscenes, since they re-use from the series
I think the biggest thing is that as a kid, I (mostly) didn't know better. I could see it wasn't great, but it was playable enough, and was a DBZ game. So that was good enough for me at the time. Nowadays? I would be absolutely ROBBED if I spent $60 on this nonsense LMAO. Thanks so much for your comment! :)
I used google translate for this: É um jogo muito agradável se você pode ver além das falhas. Isso é terrível, isso definitivamente aconteceu comigo algumas vezes quando eu era criança. Obrigado por seu comentário! :)
Would be a top tier game if it had started when goku was a child hopefully they do another like this but full through from db to z to super then of z to gt
Once you beat the main story, you unlock "Pendulum Mode" and can select from the other characters. Seems like the default difficulty is hard on Pendulum, though. Thanks for your comment. :)
@@rockorock999 Ha, it's not that big of a deal... Also, it's actually pretty brutal, especially with the human characters. I forget if there's a cheat to unlock it from the start though if you wanted to check it out..
Very true. I honestly have to give Kakarot a play... Between work and uploading videos, I always end up with a backlog of games. Thanks for your comment! :)
Yeah, it's probably worth saving yourself the headache lmao. I'd only recommend playing it if somebody never has before, but that's about it tbh. Thanks for your comment! :)
The game wasn’t bad but when you compare it to the other games it’s a definite downgrade because it doesn’t have all of dragon ball z sagas just up to cell like the original budakai but this came after budakai 3 where it explored more of the sagas, had better graphics, and more characters, so if they delayed the game for a year or two adding those things it probably could’ve done well
I think one of the troubles i had with the game is that literally almost all the characters are only variants of goku vegeta gohan piccolo and trunks. I mean what cost of only using like aleas with all of them And yeah that with can only play with krillin tien and yancha only once with completed the game feels bad. They are important in the manga and anime of z
This game has a nostalgic charm I’ll admit, I remember eagerly waiting for the release of this game thinking it to be the console equivalent of legacy of goku 2 lol. But I think I can speak on behalf of everyone when I say that this game was worth it due to it being the only title at the time to have future gohan with his one arm as a playable character. Today we got dbz kakarot DLC 3, took years lol.
Eh, not sure it'd be worth it JUST for that, but it was still very fun despite not being anywhere close to perfect.. Also, I think when I was a kid, I just didn't care. I think I'd feel robbed if something came out like this today lol. I haven't played Kakarot yet and I seriously need to get on it... Thanks for your comment! :)
@@longplaylegends ohh it was worth it for the hardcore die Garda back then to have a true video game adaptation of future gohan. You have to keep in mind that this was before shin budokai 2 so it was the only dragon ball video game that allowed you to play as future gohan and two versions, one with and without the arm and that blew our minds! Shin budokai 2 wasn’t accessible to everyone and future gohan wasn’t one of the characters to be ported to infinite world on ps2 so thankfully we got him in tenkaichi 3 but even though his move set was based around only using one arm he had two lol. Then it came to raging blast 2, just upressed from BT3 and still both arms. Xenoverse 2, same deal but a worse playable version of the character imo. But the day finally arrived last year when we got the kakarot DLC that was lore accurate. For the hardcore fans that have literally waited for the day to have a true future gohan, this was it lol. Anyways.. that’s why sagas was THAT important to us pre teens back in the day
I think as a kid, the game wasn't what I thought it was. I forget if I expected it to be open world based on marketing or what... But honestly, I remember mostly enjoying it. Looking back, it has a lot of problems, but I don't think it's so bad that a DB fan can't find some enjoyment with it, especially if they want to try out any DB series game, the good and bad. I think just go in expecting some bugs (eg next part of a level not loading and having to restart occasionally, which sucks) and I think knowing it's flawed will help you like it more for what it is. Sorry for the essay lmao
I don't really see how tbh, unless you have custom firmware or something. In that case, it would be fully playable... Sorry. :( But thanks for your comment!
One of my favorite things about the game was simply that you can play with friend through the entire game, and it felt awesome when you both would charge a special attack and sandwich enemies with combos
True, but I forget if I even had any friends interested in playing this trash with me LMAO. Well no, there was one and we did try it a couple times. Honestly, it's like a bad movie. If you can find the humor in it, there's always a good time to be had. Thanks for your comment! :)
I had this game as a kid & loved it. Yes it was glitchy, burter & jeice wouldn’t respawn after doing their purple comet ult sometimes & some enemies would disappear making it hard to beat certain levels…..but boy did I love it, so much I rebought it not too long ago & still love it just as much.
In the video, he's at 15:42. As far as how to get him or the others, once you beat the game, you unlock "Pendulum" and can select from the characters. Thanks for your question and comment. :)
