Still waiting... *sighs* I'm losing hope. This was one of my favourite games back in 2003 when I first played on on PS1. I spent so many hours on it that I lost counting.
Oh dang, the fighting system actually looks... good in this one! Very fast paced, and I love the attacks. There's just nothing like firing wolves and stampeding sheep at your opponents!
Guess I'm going to have to buy a 3DS now. I really like how the battle system is a good middle ground between the classic but speedy first-person style and the more modern team animation style. I was actually talking to a friend about something like this ~a month ago except we weren't talking about DQ7 for the 3DS but DQ8 for the Vita. I know the Vita isn't selling too well, but a DQ game would help the Vita fly off the shelves in Japan.

I have played the PS1 version before. Just completed the quest in Dharma Temple. It's a very great game. The 3DS one looks really cool. I'm glad Japan made a new magnificent rework on it. :)
I had already known about this remake coming over States-wise for some time now but I hadn't actually watched much footage for it, just to save the wonderment of all the changes made since the original. I haven't felt such happiness from a trailer in what feels like over a decade. This was such a trip for me, I used to watch my brother play the original game all the time and everything just came rushing back like a wave, not so much unlike the _resulting_ wave of man tears I held back. Coming from a Dragon Quest newbie like myself, I think it says a lot that a small-scale remake such as this has trumped all other releases I care about this year, it's just such a special game to me. Can't wait! Dragon Quest fans, rejoice!
***** Oh man, if you love the spin-offs, you'll feel right at home with 7 and 8. Though, as cool as it is to get a proper handheld release of 8, I'd recommend just getting the original version of it if you can, it's surprisingly cheaper anyway. As for 7, I can't think of a better portable JRPG if I tried.

+Christopher Portillo Oh man, yeah, I could see that happening, that'd be a pretty cheeky move. Well, all I can do is hope for the best outcome I suppose, here's hoping the platform's large install-base will help sales along well enough to justify keeping the western Dragon Quest fanbase alive.
+LordHEF definitely. we've been begging for them to bring dq over here and they have never listened and I found it weird that when they did decide to release it over to the states they used dq heroes not a actual main series game. I actually think that they used dq heroes as a test run to see if people would be willing to buy a spin off to show support. I read a lot of comments saying how people wouldn't buy the spin off just because it wasn't the main series but I honestly don't care whether one of my favorite games gets a spin off or not because if they get a spin off it just means more games to play with either my favorite characters or it means I get to experience new stories and game play so it's all good lol
My 1st DQ game ever. So many memories :') Still have the best and most memorable story than 8, 4, 5, 6 and 9 IMO (this is the order I played DQ games) oh my childhood! Glad they port it to 3DS!
8 on Ps2 is really a fantastic jrpg. If you like the genre, you have to play it. 9 on Ds has maybe not the best story, but the gameplay is great, you can spent over 200 hours on it. Each DQ Title is an own game, so you dont have to worry about the story.
I want more jrpg's like this. Not those stupid ones with all the fan service that get released on the Vita PS3. I'm glad to hear that this might be coming out her along with DQ8. Keep it old school and fun!!!

The original Dragon Quest VII and Dragon Quest VIII are in my top 5 favorite RPG's. If this remake comes to America it will be the happiest day of my gaming life

Basinator out of all the games i have wanted to play on the 3DS THIS game will be at the top. i am so stoked to see them hinting towards a NA release :D now if i heard rumblings of a Golden Sun sequel & a Paper Mario TYD remake i would declare the 3ds the perfect handheld for the nostalgic little boy in me

When this game comes out, I'm getting it day one. These games are in limited supply. After 5 years, this game will be worth a fortune. Just like Dragon Quest 4,5,6 on the Nintendo DS, they're like worth 50 bucks each now.
only 4 and 5. I don't even know why 4 is worth almost 100 brand new. It wasn't that good imo. Six is only 24 bucks brand new. 10 dollars cheaper than when I first bought it three years ago.

The battle sequence with everyone together is how you can call. The split between DQ9 and the earlier games. In the first bunch the DQ characters would have boxes that would stay together at the bottom. In a way it's trying to keep the character's visibly onscreen while keeping that aspect....sorry.
It might not release in Antarctica, there are some rumors though, saying they will ship it there but its yet to be announced not much has been announced for Europe and NA so you'll have to wait your turn...
I played this game when I was younger for the Playstation. It is by far the best Dragon Quest game I have ever played. I am looking forward to owning this game when it comes to the US for the 3DS.
+Christopher Portillo its quite strange, they pulled the carts from Amazon store but still offer the DLC ones, Gamestop has both but still dosent have the correct date or cover art, Target has the correct cover art if you want to see the game box.
in the remake of DQ7 you can change ur outfits and that is awsome and i love how you can see your characters outfit in battle now,it goes away from older RPGs DQ 1 2 3 4 5 6 and lets you change your outfit instead of never enjoying that new armor of helmet you found in that chest,this is why i like DQ9 and to take an older game and redo it,this is what fans of DQ love about the newer DQ games,we finally get the DQ7 fans want in a DQ game,
They're saying that the game is getting a graphical overhaul. Dragon Quest VII on the Playstation was done in a similar style to the remakes of Dragon Quest IV-VI on the DS.
