its not the original that looks good , its the new one that looks average as fuck , compare it to good graphical games like horizon FW or RDR 2 or something like and you'll see how average this game looks
Eh I don’t about that. Even though it had some interesting ideas it was competing against Skyrim and Dark Souls at the time which were far more revolutionary for their respective genres.
@@evials9123 Not really for either. and neither was technologically '2016 level' or revolutionary either. Dragons dogma looks like a PS3 era game, doesn't compare to PS4 era games.

Honestly the graphics and skeleton rigs are insane. DD1 was phenomenal for its time but they definitely chose the best parts of DD1 and improved. Along with the movement. How the environment was effected when the troll fell and how they rag doll but still keep their wieght is amazing
ton of ai and physics going on in this game... there is one questline that i wont spoil, that you can pick up very early.. (involving the books) when it "sets off" at the end, the amount of physics from the wind effects affecting the grass, forest, everything around you is insane. And im pretty sure its the same spell you get yourself and can just make that happen whenever you want.. wild stuff. the ai/physics are why its crippling peoples cpu's.
On the SEMI-bright side, you can buy an MTX of swapping DD2's music and certain sound effects with those of DD1. I got it, but haven't used it just yet though. Gonna try it once they make the game actually work on my mid-rig. 🫤
Youre crazy. Look at the physics differences graphics movement details sounds effects. Dd1 is far behind. You must such a fanboi to say nonsenses like that.
@@KPx-ke8bg Spotted the guy who hasn't played it. It's fucking incredible, it does admittedly run pretty badly though it's a solid 35fps on next gen and reaches 70-80fps on good rigs, and the microtransactions literally aren't noticeable and do not affect the game even 0.1% as nobody has bought them since they're completely inconsequential and unnecessary. Everyone who actually played it says it's a masterpiece. I was mad about the performance issues as well, but I've played it twice already and am currently on a completionist run. Writing this at 1AM because I can't sleep because I'm thinking about the game. That's how amazing and addictive it is.
The people who are saying there isnt a big difference need to get their eyes checked. This is a bigger graphical upgrade then most games get for a sequel.
The graphical jump is astronomical. Both games look two generations (I mean they kinda are lol) apart. The people who are claiming that the difference is minimal are either trolls or in desperate need of an opthamologist's appointment cuz their eyes be made of cardboard.
There are a lot of haters out there. This game looks amazing. It is the RE engine, after all. People will always complain about frames, performance but credit where credit is due. Capcom is a great company. Cheers.
@@haiderkhan6486Totally agree. Considering on how many platforms and how difficult it is to release a game, we should cut the devs some slack, but there is a lot of toxicity out there, being Steam forums the worst. Cheers.
@@Drstrange3000 Guess I'm the only one who's seeing a two generational difference. I have no clue how people can think the sequel doesn't look dramatically better. Dark arisen looks so basic if you actually compare the two in depth.
Yep that's exactly what I thought. RDR1 and DD1 have more fast paced arcade-like gameplay and a simpler smaller world to explore while RDR2 and DD2 have more realistic slowed down gameplay with a much larger deeper world to explore. Some things in the first game are better than the second game and some things in the second game are better than the first game.
What I loved the most is how much the first DD reminded me of the old Gothic Games, but with amazing combat. Can't wait to have time to hit DD2 on my pc
@@qwerty-ij8ts Everything else is what? Atmosphere is awesome, especially at night when horrors come out. Music is just exceptional. Story is non-existant, but world is okay, although small. Gear progression is fun. Many professions to choose from. Graphics is great for ps3 era. So, once again, what else do you want from DD? For example monster hunter series have no story too, but it doesn't make them worse. Regarding gothic (i have played gothic 1, 2, 3, risen 1, 2, 3) its combat may be tolerable, but it lacks variation and possibilities unlike dogma which offers much more. DD was a head above most of RPGs just by itroducing that cool "cling to the boss" mechanic, gothic has no chances here.
@@KateikyoshiDX Awesome level is skyrim, witcher and rdr. This game is on the bottom side. Combat in g1 and 2 is about timings, fun when u get used to it. In dd its button mashing 90% of the time. Boss climbing is cool when u see it in trailer, but feels like a chore after second cyclops.
@@qwerty-ij8ts skyrim has dumb combat and leveling is not as fun as in morrowind. I like the game though. Witcher series have great quests, but combat is almost as shallow as in gothic. RDR...wait, what? What rdr even has to do with rpgs? Overall I see your issue. It all comes down to being a big fan of dd combat. If you love it, then the game is a masterpiece. If not, well, then it is crap. For me DD is just a different monster hunter with parkour. I am having fun targeting weak spots and bringing down big enemies efficiently. Tis' a matter of a taste.
@@KateikyoshiDX Rdr is awesome open world game with atmosphere. Nowadays they add rpg elements everywhere (hello gow 2018), so it doesnt matter. Gothic combat is not shallow, it just doesnt have cringe anime moves.
The map in DD2 is the new standard for RPGs. Its so large and immersive nothing else compares. 130 hours in and I am sooooo excited to see what comes next. My only complaints are: 1. the lack of end game content, because I want to keep playing, but theres nothing left to do. I want dungeons. BIG dungeons. Like BBI but 4x the size. 2. Trickster needs some improvements. Its my absolute favorite class because of how unique it is. But so much of what it does is a gimmick and not practical. 3. More vocations in general. Really sad Mystic Knight wasnt here, and I was really hoping Alchemist from Online would make the cut. Hopefully soon(tm). 4. difficulty settings. the game is just wayyyy too easy. Dynamic scaling and more mob density would be great.
Fully agree with everything you said. I feel the game is brilliant, but it's not hitting that "spectacular" level as of yet. Really hope Capcom adds a Hard Mode, more vocation, bigger/better dungeons and more improvements.
@@Kyle-Marxluxia absolutely. There's a lot I want to see. Including everything you said. I can't decide if they'll wait a year and add one big expansion, or if they'll take it the Monster Hunter route and do smaller updates every few months.
@@morbincentral3607graphics are much better, controls are responsive and accurate, and the vast brunt of the game has been changed as a direct improvement.
@@zzodysseuszzThese people are probably watching the video with the resolution on 'auto' and their crappy internet connection causing it to play at 480p. Like, I'm playing this at 4K maxed out with ray tracing on PC and am just laughing at these comments man😂
I don't even think they need to lower the resolution that much. (at least not on PS5 and Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S is something else and I don't think 60fps is possible on it in this case) They just need to disable ray tracing, that's what Star Wars Jedi: Survivor did in the seventh patch and they basically got locked 60fps after that and were even able to increase the resolution and draw distance a bit.
@@MoonSarito jedi survivor still suffers from screen tear and frame rate fluctuations till this date on the ps5.. but the improvements were day and night from first launch.
This game likely has some serious memory bandwidth mismanagement coupled with heavy cpu utilization. Typically (though certainly not always) resolutions scale off of the GPU independently of the CPU. This means that even if the resolution is lowered, the cpu is still preoccupied with running other tasks to render an extra frame. This can sometimes be a sign of poor optimization on the developers end. But regardless, extra concessions would need to made other than resolution (say, cpu driven physics would need to be scaled back) in order to free up the CPU’s task force. With that you potentially risk altering the fundamental mechanics of the game. I’m not defending Capcom here. But it’s not necessarily that simple
Visual comparison is pretty useful, but dragon's dogma is the kind of game that you need to feel how it plays since gameplay and interactivity is where the Dev's been focusing the most rather than graphical fidelity. I really wish there's a demo or something, so that people could try/check if they can run it before buying.
Due to it's very grounded art design, it's the same sort of beauty as going out in your back yard and looking out at the field, or the woods, the sunset, etc... in real life. It's amazingly immersive though, especially at night. The real stunners are definitely when your playing iand interacting with it. The ai and physics in this game are just wild. When you drop a tornado on top a group of mobs, with a half mile radius, it acts like a friggin TORNADO /W A HALF MILE RADIUS! The entire environment starts flipping out and blowing (real physics) any breakable/moveable object, including actors, is affected, breaking apart, and flying all over the place and slamming into things.. boulders may start rolling.. the entire screen turns into madness.
I miss the times when we criticized companies for focusing on graphics too much. Dragons Dogma 2 and Valheim being called ugly hurts me. Those are beatiful games. Not every game has to have the highest standards of graphics. That'd be super boring.
Who said they were ugly? All I hear about is performance which is valid and micro transactions which shouldn’t be a negative considering they aren’t even anything good
@@xwulfd nah just blame idiots. A lot of pc gamers do not care about graphics. But if that's your argument then we can also look at consoles since that's all they've been trying to do is catch up to the power of a computer to render graphics better, and they never will lmao.

Basically the same game. I want to compliment the first game for holding up well, but also I want to emphasise how little the new one improved on anything.
Kinda crazy how videogamey DD1 looks to me now. When it was released it looked near photorealistic to me. Guess the ray traced global illumination in DD2 helps in making it look more real in comparison.
Crazy thing about the difference between the 2 is how small you feel like your Arisen is in the 2nd game vs the 1st. The second game even the goblin and rat are Huge! Not the bats though, the bat became tiny.
I miss Mystic Knight too, as well as Assassin and spells for sorcerer, but what they can do with classes like Warfarer is certainly interesting in my opinion.
I don't mind it because mystic knight uses the same weapons, whereas mystic spearhand uses a different weapon. So there's still a reason to be a regular knight.
Amen, brother. Mystic knight was fun. I love playing battlemages. Pretty miffed they got rid of it, but at least in its place is basically a cross between a FFXIV dragoon and a Jedi.
I couldn't play Mystic Knight due to that idiotic mechanic of them having the shield on their back until you actually used it. What psychopath would do such a thing? 😂
I was actually confused in the first comparison, the place is to open, not a lot of textures going on, did seem that different, but then on the forest you could defenitly seem the improvement
At a glance you could say that either the old game stood the test of time or the new one didn't get that much of an upgrade because both look quite similar. But when you pay close attention there's actually a lot of differences in graphics between the two games, it's actually the artsyle and, most importantly, the soul of the game that's similar.

Romance is worse in 2, and I wish they did more with the pawn dialogue(I know it was a meme how much they repeated themselves in 1 but it came from how annoying they were) but the gameplay was fantastic, I fell in love with the combat
I plan on going back to play the first game after im done with the second. But I have to say as a first time dd player I am having a fantastic time. This is my second favorite open world rpg behind elden ring that I have ever played. I get the criticism on the performance which i hope improves, however, the graphics are good enough. The gameplay is what matters. Heck, I'm a die hard FromSoftware fan and they have never been known for their graphics.
DD2 has a ton of world logic, NPC/monsters AI behavior, physics interaction NPCs with surroundings and game mechanics under the hood, and this all works not only in front of the player's eyes, but also in a large radius around, it is CPU heavy for calculating. So anyone who thinks that the game is eating up more PC power than it should - think about whether this is true. P.S. In my opinion, this can be slightly optimized by transferring part of the logic calculations from the CPU to the video card, but I don’t know how difficult it is to do this.
I’m 90% sure that a big hit to the performance lies with a bug in the AI pathing especially in cities with lots of road ways, sometimes npcs will get stuck (pawns too) unsure or unable to make up their pathways, they run/walk in circles and the constant recalculations on these AI is cpu heavy. ARMA games suffer the same issue to similar extent with lots of AI
@@Nicolo-ue9xuits their AI pathing causing performance issues, there is just a bug in the AI causing them to have trouble pathing and the constant calculations cause cpu strain

I honestly don't think it will never be outdone in an open world game. It's got the perfect blend of snappy responsive movement, and weighty tactile combat. Too much focus on realistic movement/animation in modern games, means the actual control suffers a lot.
@@Mechadeuce Bro u gotta realize that most people want cool movement and not snappy ugly animations. This isn't a pvp title. You are not the norm. Character customization can be bought around the time you get to pawn guild i think? it was 500RC which by the time you get there you probably already have enough. performance for me is completely fine, 70-90fps on my 3070ti while GPU reaching 50-70% with graphics on max, except ray tracing which i left disabled (~80% on intensive scenes). however the optimisation in the city is GOD AWFUL. from what i gathered it seems to be CPU issue and NPC's are unoptimised or needlessly complex, making it CPU intensive. most of the MTX are most likely for impatient players, basically zoomers or gen alpha with 1 minute attention span or people who can't be bothered to travel or grind for stuff. but, i do agree with you that the existence of the MTX itself is problematic and it is a shame that the game went on this path :( (hopefully they do a quick patch for the NPC optimization problem)
@@-.-...---7 And hope they also do what Shadow of War did when it comes to MTX, other than that, it saddens me they made the game as inaccessible as possible with the min. system requirements being a big ol' rtx, thats one way to turn a gamer away from a good game, and another way to make the game reach a narrower audience, im just gonna stick with DDDA for now, DD2 has so much potential but is being held back by everything avoidable, its a disaster of a game launch so far
Dd1 you had ranger. Who could have daggers and a large bow for a total of 8 skills. This game you get warfarer with only 4 skills. 3 if you use the change weapon skill in mid combat. the vocations are less that and the portcrystals don't stay when you beat the game.

Is it true that you have to pay to change character appearance in a game you pay 80$ for? And optimize is really bad? Bc its overwhelm with negative review right now.
You can use rift crystals to do that but you have to explore + do quests + pimp out your pawn. But depending on your patience you can just purchase the edit appearance book with real money
Its true and false. Yes you can pay to have usable items BUT everything on the micro transaction list is easily found in game. DD2 plays exactly like DD1 in that items are rare and have to be grinded for. I can't understand why Capcom would throw in MTX when it's useless to use.
Haven't played dd2, but in dd1 you can change basic stuff like hair, beard, tattoos, hair colors etc anytime at a saloon, but near the end of the game, there's going to be a merchant that sells an item to allow you to change more detailed features like gender, face, body shape etc. I'd wager the 2nd game is going to do something similar to that. As for optimization, yea I heard it's a bit rough, but if you can handle 30fps then I guess it's fine, maybe? Might want to hold up for now, because the series' not your typical open world action RPG, and there's some stuff that you'd have to get used to.
It's not overwhelmed with negative reviews, it's mixed at worst. The microtransactions is the thing people complain the most about, not because it's predatory but because it's microtransactions on a game that sincerely had no need for. The next thing that turns people off is the fact that the game only allows you 1 save state, if you screw up your playthrough, you can't reload from whenever you want. My main concerns though, are none of that. The game doesn't offer a very deep and engaging plot, the gameplay is exactly the same as the first one, skills and everything, it barely tried to do anything new. While it's not necessarily a bad thing, the potential to be something better 10 year later was there, it's easy to see and hard to ignore.
