Dragon's Dogma 2 - How to Buy Your First House (A Place to Call Home Side Quest with Mildred) - A House? In This Economy? Achievement/Trophy - Purchased a dwelling of your own
There are many opportunities to buy dwellings during the course of the game, but many can be a serious investment of time or gold. The first and easiest opportunity should come once you reach Vernworth.
In Vernworth, head to the south side of The Stardrop Inn which is near the city center. In this alley, you may find an NPC named Mildred. If not, find the nearby bench at the Vocation Guild House to sit, and doze off to progress time. You can repeatedly check for Mildred and progress time until she appears. Once she does, she will automatically start a conversation as you approach and begin the "A Place to Call Home" side quest.
Meet at her house (use the questline for a location marker), and accept the quest. If you want to finish the quest as soon as possible, just head inside her house and sleep 7 times back to back until she returns. Alternatively, you can play the game as normal using the home as a free rental. When she returns, talk to her and she will offer to sell you the house for 20,000 gold. Purchase it to keep it.
At a home, you can rest for free, have shared storage between multiple locations, and have a place for your admirers to be.
