There's another dwarf smith in the capital city of Battahl, which is a more convenient location. You have to complete the regalia sword questline to unlock him.
Another good thing to note is that if you need really rare materials for upgrades but don't want to keep farming that enemy over and over again, you can just fight it until you get the material you need and then go to the forgory shop in the checkpoint town and keep copying it. It takes a few in-game days to copy something but you can just go do other stuff while that's going on and kinda kill two birds with one stone
@@BrockJorgy It does. I've done it with Boltscales, Fell-Lord Bones and those fire slime drops. Upgrade materials can indeed be forged and used to upgrade.
@@BrockJorgy Keep in mind the rarer the material the more expensive it is to copy, so it'd be best to make sure you have a fair bit of gold on you when you do it. The Fell-Lord Bone only cost like 2160 gold or something so it isn't SUPER expensive, just keep that in mind though.
As a warrior, im definitely going all dwarven, i already did that dwarfs quest, didn't know hes a smith though. More knockdowns = more free execute damage to their head
FYI, with the forger passive. You can open the map & click on the materials icons. It will tell you the type of material at the location. Hope that helps 😉
Just finished the first area and did not know the different styles. Glad vermundian is just generally good. Dwarven seems good for warriors to increase the knockdown even further
@Seeking_Solace right but early game, it's less important. I would argue that sorc and mage benefit elven on weapons because they are less affected by knockdown.
@@Omar_Al_Seddik gotcha didn't realize they had that much knockdown because generally my warrior hits are the ones that actually trigger the knockdown.
I know i commented twice already but thief and archer are 2 vocations you want as little weight as possible so the best in slot armor is arguably early vermund with either vermund or elven style. Yeah dragonforging lowers weight alot but its difficult to achieve very light weight rating with other smithing styles unless you grind golden beetles in ng+ runs like a lunatic or cheat.
The thing that vermundian and elvish is good for as well, is lowering weight. Each smith level lowers the item's weight which is good, since Battahl increases the weight
Problem is that the weight decreases arent large enough to really be useful, the bonuses from dwarven are just objectively better, and ehen you dragonforge equipment the weight gets halved anyways.
It's about time we get more of these in depth late game guides. Enough "tips and tricks for beginners", please, that content is already plentiful and what we don't have are endgame systems explained yet. For instance, I would love to know more about Wyrmforging before I brick my gear and set myself 200k gold behind.
No such thing as bricking your gear... Heck I was level 25 with base bow when I swapped to archer and still wrecking everything even just using the kick 😂
I think it might be worth mentioning the dragon-forged upgrades too. It only halves the weight of the items, but that's amazing for a class like Thief since it means better stamina management and higher attack speed.
He mentioned it right at the start. It doesn't compete with the other smithing types, it can only be done to items that have been fully enhanced 3x(of whatever type). It benefits the Battahli and Dwarven smithing even more since they INCREASE weight, unlike the Vermundian/Elven smithing.
okay you are putting these videos out just in time..i seem to be at this type of point in the game... it is taking alittle too long to kill dragons (and the constant using my pawn as a throwing stone) thanks for the info
lots of good info. def feel comfy knowing i'll be exlusively playing hybrid classes and going full vermundian for weapons with full dwarven for all armor (at least a bit later when i unlock dwarves and volcanic isle) and then dragonforging.
Just do full Dwarven for weapons then if going Vermundian. Same DMG increases with a boost to knockdown as well, at the cost of a tiny bit more weight.
I have been trying to figure out how useful Knockdown power/resistance is and if the Dwarf upgrades were worth the lower damage and defense. I haven't seen anyone taking about this, so your video was very helpful!
Save all the people from the main capitols and the village outside of the volcano and do thier quest bring an elven wordsmith pawn or have ur pawn learn it and once you do the quests for each of them their people go to the little safe place and but for vermund u have to kill the regentkins father and mother and you will get the all achievements for the unmoored world and kill a headless horseman as its a seperate trophy im on my third play through already only a couple achievements left for me but unmoored world might have a deadline as it counts days if you die u restart completely or last inn rest ie last inn rest day 3 also it unlocks all vocation you might not have unlocked its how i got wayfairer and magick archer
Also the little red beacons are boss fights and u have to do them to unlock the last one but whith those bosses u have to break all the welts on the regular skin of the dragon or snake thing and then attack the ones on the red part of the body when it turns regular
Not sure if an update changed Dwarven vs Vermundian, but Dwarven had 1 less def and 2 less magic, but 14 more knockdown on the 1st level of the Ares Morpho Robe for mage. And, I upgraded with Vermundian 10-15 levels earlier than Dwarven. It seems Dwarven Style does less strength and magic now. Unless, it depends on the item to be upgraded. Not sure.
This is my opinion on what enhancements go on in each class . What do yall think? Fighter/warrior: Dwarven (for all items) Mage/Scorccer/Magic Archer/ Trickster: Elven (weapons), Dwarven (armor) Archer: Batalli (weapon), Vermand (magic weapon), Dwarven (armor) Thief: Batalli(weapon), Vermand (magic weapon), Batalli/Vermand (armor) Mystic Spearhand: Dwarven/Batalli (weapon), Dwarven (armor)
Dwarven is by far superior for warrior weapons. I tested with dragon's bite. With batthali style all the way and wyrmfire, 1040 str with 550ish knckdwn. Dwarven: 1001 str with 900ish knckdwn. The str boost is nothing compared to the loss in stagger power with batthali style. For armors, always go with dwarven imo.
I guess I should just point out that the stat increases are not the same for all weapons, I don’t know if that’s because of your characters stats or if it just straight up affects the base stats, but yeah, definitely different for different weapons, so people should take that into account too
I think Vermundian & Elven styles are generally good for armor because the upgrades reduce the weight of the armor piece. Also, you have to equip more armor slots than weapon slots. Batthali & Dwavern styles are generally good for weapons because the upgrades focus on Strength (Batthali) or add Knockdown Power (Dwarven)
All upgrades lower weight. And you should use elven for magic weapons, and heavy armor, for more mag def, or batthail for armor's knochdown resist for normal armor And for low knockdown weapons, more damage makes more sense, really.
@@KeithElliott-zd8cx Incorrect. Battahli and Dwarven upgrades increase weight, you can literally see this if you hover over the option. Vermundian and Elven reduce weight, Elven more than Vermundian. Of course, since Dragonforging cuts weight in half, it's not a massive difference either way.
I didn't even realize there was different upgrading styles. I just though all blacksmiths just offer the same things. Shop, sell, and upgrade. But now I'm thinking about it, there's different symbols when updgrading. Now I'm going to have to double check all my gears 😂
What, Battahl? Or do you mean the volcanic area past Battahl? Beamcause if you were already 52 when you crossed the border that's kind of impressive. I was about lvl 40 at the time and I explored about everything in Vermund by then.
Dude i got the Medusa bow and shared it with my second account to test it out, jumped from 9 to 35 in less than 24 hours of play with level 40-50 pawns hired. Rushed to get Warfarer and Magik Archer unlocked early, pretty cool stuff only downside is it makes you pretty heavy, you gotta travel pretty light till you2 gain a lot of levels.
If you are going to upgrade sleep at an inn so you can reset to it to see what the others do to it in general. A lot of times those lvl 2 and 3 are massive.
Probably best to go damage for magic archer. Unless your goal is to go solo, give your knockdown power to a pawn warrior or archer even. You have control of dps, not a pawns dps and what abilities they use.
Good morning ! I'm French and I don't really understand English (google translate)... However the subject seems interesting. Do you mean that the stat bonus received when upgrading varies depending on who is upgrading them ?
Exactly what Magick Archer skills use physical? The only one I can think of would be Hailstone Bolt, but you could just use Flamefang Arrow or Sagitate instead.
You should definitely be mixing those up too gwt some knockdown power with more damage and and weight reduction. Two v one dwarf and youre golden for magick archer and mystic
So it should go like this? Warrior and fighter > Dwarf Mage, sorcerer, magic archer and spear > Elven Thief and archer > Batthali Trickster and warfarer > Haven´t played them but I guess warfare should depend on what vocations u have equiped and trickster ¿?¿?
Dwarf for everything! Having knockdown power on spells is useful and most mage armor already has high magic defense so getting more physical defense with knockdown resistance would prevent your mages from losing a spell because someone threw a rock at them.
Its 5 styles you also get dragon enhancements it massively lowers weight and you get a 4th upgrade uses wyrmslife crystals 15 a weapon 5 for armour i believe
It would be so awesome if we could overwrite upgrades in game plus.. i didnt knew this all before completing the true ending including the post game ending.
So basically, you want Elven for mage and sorcerer weapons (And very maybe Battahli for Thief and Archer ones), but Dwarven for everything else unless you have serious weigh issues.
I think Dwarf is still the way to go, having spells with high knockdown sounds really powerful and most mage armor already has high magic defense so getting more physical defense with knockdown resistance also sounds like a good idea.
@@arklainquirk Does it make a difference on spells? For some reason I assumed it didn't and only affected the basic atack, but I guess I never actually tested that. With melee weapons and the basic staff attacks you can clearly see the effects of boons and the such on the attack itself, but you can't with actual spells, so I kinda just assumed they're not affected by anything. But now that I look back on it, they depend on the magick stat of your weapon, so it was kinda stupid of my part to assume that I suppose. If damage affects them, why wouldn't knockback do so, right? Also, I meant specifically weapons with my original comment, I didn't mean armor.
@@urtoryu_dy_althraidn If knockdown did not work with spells, it would not be listed as a stat on the weapon. It is also useful for knocking flying enemies out of the sky!
@@arklainquirk I thought it only applied to the staff normal attacks core skills, which was admittedly pretty silly of me. And yeah, Levin might knock most enemies out of the air with one hit, but when it comes to griffins or drakes it's not so easy.
so i hear what your saying... but ive been killing everything up to drakes in about 30 seconds on three different vocations without having to worry about knocking them down because damage number higher.
So is dwarven still the best option for thieves? Keeping in mind that the Dragonforced will halve all weight, negating the negative aspect of the Dwarven smithy almost completely.
I have a really important question since I’m am running the frost daggers on my thief and I enchanted them 2 times with the battahli enchantment should I enhance them 1 more time there or should I go for the dwarf enchantment for the 3 enhance ? Is knock down power important on the thief ?
Try shooting a real bow. You'll be met with how many pounds bow you want to shoot. There are really muscly guys struggling to shoot the highest weight bows for example. Strength is very important for archery.
As some one who played the first game I would say dwarvesn and vermundian are the best the weight reduction is quite nice but dragon forged does that already so go dwarven stagger power and resistance are really REALLY good unless you are specifically thief or trickster the rest of the classes benefit greatly from knockdown power and trickster can stagger with his weapon but it might affect the maister skill gotta test that later
No need for vermundian, go dwarven for all classes weapons and armor, the 4th upgrade can only be done with dragon forging and it’s halves the weight of the item, so go dwarf for all weapons to get the vermundian dmg equivalent but with more knockdown then dragon forge it to bring the weight back down,
From jumping in the Hot spring on the opposite sex side and getting attacked so I killed the guy that gives me WAYFARER vocation , to sneaking in a window within my first hour of gameplay and killing the guy who grants the best skills for Mage and sorcerer, to traveling for 60 hours and giving an NPC an item that shows I have one main quest until the game is over and I’m locked out of certain quests, and killing the SPHINX literally before getting 100,000 in gold, I’ve come to the conclusion that the first playthrough was a sample 😂
i have a question first for example my dead ringer dd2 wiki say all Vermundian smithing style 547 in magick and physick attack and 275 in knockdown, but Dwarven smithing would give me the same stast in attack and magicattack but with 481 knockdown so better no option where is the preference. and nr.2 is it possible do re do a smithing enchanted so clean your weapon
Not sure if it was yours, but I used a Gimli pawn from lvl 29 until I was like 41 before I finally dismissed him with a fresh set of gear as thanks for how well he performed 😊
Can i resett the enchantments on my weapons? I used the wrong ones on my frosted edges daggers :( I want the most strength and magic on them but i accidentally used batthal enchantment
Anyone know if the physical damage component of Meteoron is enhanced by vermundian style? Or are both the fire and physical components still increased by Magick Attack on your weapon? Since I decided to go with Meteoron over Maelstrom I am really torn about which style I want to use on my archistaff. I also wonder if I should do at least one rank of Dwarven to increase knockdown power. HMMMMM. This system seems really simple at first glance but the more I think about it the more I realize there is to consider. I think I like it! EDIT: This also makes me wonder about Seism which is all physical damage. (And that makes me sad since it was Holy + Physical in DD1. There doesn't seem to be a good way to exploit the Holy bonus on Talarian White since Decanter's base damage is so low.)
magic archer does not split damage between physica and magic all of their damage is magic except arctic bolt, and that move is for cc it's base damage is absurdly low.
I think Elven is still going to be the best style on Sorcerer, because Sorcerer doesn't need extra Knockdown Power Dwarven makes more sense on Physical Vocations like Fighter and Warrior
why don't Sorcerers need knockdown power? having spells with high knockdown sounds really powerful and most mage armor already has high magic defense so getting more physical defense with knockdown resistance also sounds like a good idea.
@@arklainquirk Because Nuke Spells Sorcerer doesn't need the Knockdown Power because Meteoron and Maelstrom exist, the whole point of playing Sorcerer is BEEG DAMAGE
@@jaydenlobbe7911 That is true but you're already doing a lot of damage with no upgrades. If you take the most powerful archistaff Dragon's Wit the magic damage difference between Elven and Dwarf is only 44 but you get 100 more knockdown power with the Dwarf upgrades. If you can knockdown a large foe with your first Meteron strike and then your next two strikes get the crit damage and kill it, I think the loss of 44 magic damage is worth it. Even if you don't outright kill it with Meteoron the ability to knock foes down and allow your other party members to get in on the crit damage is still more useful, especially when you can knock a griffin or a dragon out of the sky!
Very informative video. If you’ve upgraded a weapon or armor twice or three times in one style can it be downgraded to upgrade in another style? Or do you at least need to leave the third upgrade open for Dwarven?
I don't think you can downgrade or undo any upgrades. So you have to decide which of the 4 upgrades you wanna go with. The last red slot is for dragon forged upgrade which you use wyrmcrystals from drake kills
@@sPaCe_NiNjA187 if you fully upgraded your armor already yes. But unless it's the best armor or weapon in the game you'd probably be better served just finding a better version and then upgrading it
@@sPaCe_NiNjA187 nope sorry. Equipment wise I've been attempting to avoid spoilers. But cash isn't super hard to get your hands on in my experience. If you really have to you can buy a comparable bow. If not I'm sure some wiki has more info on weapons and armors
I would think so, having spells with high knockdown sounds really powerful and most mage armor already has high magic defense so getting more physical defense with knockdown resistance also sounds like a good idea.
Lol Cliodhna straight up tells you her husband will take up his forge for you at the end of that quest line and she states the fact he is a dwarf, idk how people can't make that obvious connection
You want elven upgrades on your armor for fighting creatures like drakes, chimera, and Liches that use magic attacks constantly. If you're getting hit physically, that's your fault to begin with but as a mage, sorcerer, archer, magick archer, or trickster, it's important to have that magic defense for when meteors and lightning fall from the sky. Using the warrior with armor from the volcano with Battahli upgrades, I don't get knocked out of animations unless it's a grab attack and I have yet to visit the tavern in Vernworth yet to begin the main quest. Knockdown on armor is useful early game with bad armor or on lighter classes, but when you get used to the game, it's unnecessary. I can only recommend this being used on fighter shields, maces, great weapons, and regular bows. You want elven on staves and archstaves, magick bows, and infused weapons (unless you're only using them for debilitation build up, then go Battahli) And Battahli for the rest. Your raw data is extremely flawed with these cherry picked items you didn't choose with any real logic and lack of build focus or understanding of enemies. You don't need knockdown power when you know exactly where to hit every enemy to put them on the ground immediately (head, heart, wings, and for tall two legged enemies; the knees). My magick archer kills most things (all little enemies in 1-2) in less than 10 shots and I have the whole map open and used it until it was maxed out at level 30, been upgrading other stuff since for augments to be even more powerful.
If you're getting hit by meteors and lightning that your own fault... all joking aside, as soon as you see them casting meteor or lightning if you start running before markers appear on the ground you can dodge the attack and if you manage to dodge the first attack they will continue to target you instead of your pawns.
@@arklainquirk I specified vocations it's important with because using abilities often completely drains stamina and leaves you open regardless of using stamina consumables and with the magic defense, it's faster and easier to take the hits and get up to keep fighting than to cancel high damage abilities just to waste 30 seconds dodging an attack that won't come close to killing you. Casters don't dodge well and the trade is well worth it so I don't see the point of your comment. My meteors > their meteors. And once my abilities go off, they're not casting anything else anyway.
@@royalaegisgaming5652 I doubt your killing dragons and drakes with one meteor. If you let your pawns get hit with a meteor or lighting strike from a dragon they will get one shotted and then the dragon is going to come after you. You can also move just as fast as a caster as you can any other vocation, like I said if you start running before the markers appear on the ground you can avoid all damage to you and your pawns. If you get hit with a meteor when you're casting your spell you're going to lose that spell anyways so you might as well start moving to avoid the attack. I also avoid weapon attacks that totally drain your stamina as the loss of dps when you are staggered from having no stamina and then having to wait for your stamina to refill to use another ability is not worth it. I personally find it dumb that some attacks drain all of your stamina when casting Meteoron takes less than a quarter of your stamina and does 100x more damage.
@@royalaegisgaming5652 also the point of my comment was because you made the assertion that you should not take any physical damage and that magic damage is unavoidable. When in fact you're more likely to take physical damage and magic damage is avoidable.
FYI the thief maister dodge skill dodges all dmg, even magic....seriously op, you can just stand in dragon breath and take no dmg. So I wouldn't recommend elven for them really either.
