I now have the habit of buying a game 6 months after it comes out. Ever since cyberpunk this has been my go to practice. You get it in a sale for lower price and with the performance patches already implemented.
Same. its even worse for me cuz im from a third world country and if i wanted to buy a AAA game at launch, that's 10% of my monthly salary. I make good money btw but regional pricing is absolutely fucked in my country. @@neinstein-says
Optimization seems to be an increasingly more apparent issue in new games nowadays. Lets be honest, the graphics plateaued awhile ago. Very few games push graphic boundaries each year. I can play certain games at 60fps, no problem. But then a game will release with graphics comparable to games from 2015 and I'm running at like 30fps with some lag spikes here and there. Its almost like they aren't taking proper steps to optimize the 3D models or something. Like everything they do just constantly adds to the pile of information when they could instead compress or simplify certain things without much graphical difference at all.
Witcher 3 without the 4K next gen direct x12 b******* which tanks my 3080 somehow. Standard Witcher 3. Max, everything looks amazing. Looks magnitude is better than starfield and runs better than starfield.
It’s because you’re actually right. If you look into graphics programming there’s a corner of RU-vid that actually has a few videos talking about this, while games like Horizon Forbidden West are outliers where optimisation is extremely smart and efficient, there are countless games uses extremely basic optimisation techniques that, while are helping, are far from the capabilities of dedicated graphics programmers and time.
It's not just you; there's poison in the well here. You have to remember that channels like these are predominated by gamers for whom PCs are their platform of choice.
@@bensmith5288 I'm not sure why you're targeting my comment specifically, other than the likelihood that a nerve was struck. The truth can often be so very uncomfortable. There's little debate to be had that like-for-like, the game's performance on PC is conspicuously erratic, and only the very latest hardware is spared that issue, whereas an acclimatization to 30 FPS on the PS5 -- an attainability for most gamers -- yields an entirely serviceable, if imperfect experience, as the frame rate fluctuations are mild by comparison.
While it definitely doesn't run as smoothly as other games on ps5 to me it's not the end of the world because the game is so good that it kinda makes up for it.
@@HARLEM-NEWYORK I feel like the people creating these games have these goals they must accomplished set by people who never play any games, just are in it for profit.
I have NEVER been nerdy enough to care about a 30 frame game. Really, I play’d the whole game 100 hours. And enjoyed the hell out of it. Never once minded the frame drop every once in a blue moon.
Ahhh optimization, a thing that becomes like a myth in AAA games nowadays.remember how developer brainstorming how to put their games into a game cartridge and still try to make the game looks great at that time?mannnn i feel like an old man.
even the rendering distance is abismall and pop ins are incredibly noticeable. And it's just ridiculous that even disabling ray-tracing ( a feature that was NOT there at launch) it run at nowhere near 60 fps. That is absolutely inexusable.
@@Lackesisof course with patches it will get better on PC, it was a joke :) at launch it's a toss coin whether you'll be able to play it or not so I don't think it's wort buying right now. I am happy to wait a year for a solid sale
It’s frustrating yes, but in the combat system my biggest disappointment is the fact that you have only 4 skills slots…. Like wtf ?? Why ?? Why not 8 ?? Especially for mages, 4 are nothing
The games runs far more consistently on ps5 than pc. I initially played on pc, and unless you have a beast rig, there are graphics artifacts, problems, and very low frames (3070, btw)
People just expect way too much lately and they complain about anything. It’s playing absolutely fine for me. I haven’t noticed any npcs “fade in” but even if they did I literally couldn’t care less, I wouldn’t be like omg that’s so weird. I’d just carry on playing. No one enjoys games anymore, they only enjoy critiquing it and complaining 😂
People fail to realize this is Capcoms first big ass open world game on the RE engine which is still relatively new and they've been doing a lot to explore capabilites with the engine and master it.
i bet people are going to bring up elden ring, but they fail to remember that fps was bad at launch as well, and still kinda is, also dd2 has better graphics, better effects and an AI and quest system that elden ring doesn't have.
@@liquid1514 Yesh. But to notice this you'd have to use your brain and the people in these comments don't come here to do that. They want to be bias and argue, so the game is bad until they say it ain't.
Star Field does handle it better, but DD2 is at least trying something ambitious. Every NPC is named, has a completely unique face, along with having likes and dislikes, plus a (limited) schedule for where/when you could potentially see them at or on the way to. But regardless, the pop ins are pretty inexcusable. It’s an ambitious game compared to the modern standard. It’s just frustrating most the ideas are left unfinished or unpolished. Devs rarely get the time or funding to fully realize a vision. So exceptions have to be made for that bottom dollar babbbby.
As a hardcore gamer who’s been waiting for the game I’m willing to put up with the jank but for casual players I’d recommend waiting 6 months to a year
Its not very very good. It not truly open world. Traversing through canyons as the main terrain is not open world. The goblins are tedious. The camping is not immersive. There is no interaction in the player home. And you think the optimization is the only issue? Its just okay. Ive put in 10 hrs and havent played in weeks because...well no reason at all really. I just dont want to run back and forth in canyons fighting goblins for a bottle of whatever in a chest as the only loot. Meh
It's primarily down to the engine used for the game, unfortunately as capcom has spent so long using RE Engine that I just don't believe they will change that.
And now as long as you have a good rig the optimization is mostly fixed finally. Picked up on sale after refunding at launch because the PC patch came out and it’s been great
“Its very very good” then goes in to explain why it not actually “very very good” then says to not settle for its “playable” and “it works good enough” this entire video contradicts his very first statement. If its only playable and “works good enough” that does not merit a “very very good rating” what it merits is “its playable and works good enough”
The game itself is very good, the performance as of now it not very good. All he is trying to say. The story can be perfect, action can be too, but if you can't even get stable framerates (terrible idea to just have the game w no cap on fps.) or good draw distance, is the game very good then? No.
@@robertrainford6754the original game had all the stuff people are complaining about in this one. If not more so on its launch. People saying this have only played recently on the ddda port on midern hardware
I have over 10 hours in the game now and i will say I do wish the game had a performance mode for ps5 I've still been loving the game and the lower fps isn't the end of the world.
DD2 needs a number of tweaks still. People have said how great it was about the sphinx and the 1st seaker token riddle but being level 62 and having that issue and trying to get NPCs to part with skills and specializations just wasn't working for me so I started from scratch again. They only allowed a new game to be created while 1 already existed with the latest update. So even if I wanted to go back to my 1st playthrough I can't now. Ernesto, btw, never showed for me no matter what time of day it was so timed quests should maybee have a countdown clock
Bethesda removed a better A.I. from Starfield to improve performance. I know, i have read this somewhere. At one point they "optimized" the game and the A.I. had to be nerfed for better performance.
Dynamic NPC's need to use CPU. Using lots of CPU makes less CPU for the rest of the game. Using the CPU means people playing the game will need a powerful CPU to play the game properly. Loads of people have older CPU's and start having issues. Gamers: wanting the best games, but not having the best hardware and blaming the devs!
@@andishawjfacYou're talking bollocks. It has issues even on the fastest CPU available, just go and look at the gamers nexus piece. People are blaming the devs...because it's the devs who've released this mess.
Yeah they need to Fix This ASAP Because its really Not Optimized with GPU lower than 4000 And i hope they add more Option like Advaced Graphic Settings so we can Setup everything to make game looks smoother
I have a 40 series (4070 Ti to be specific) and I still have these problems. Game is perfect outside of cities but inside them is where all the problems are.
As soon as console gamers stop expecting to have a PC like experience on their potato hardware, we might be able to get somewhere. But when people demand console games to be 1:1 with a PC, we are always playing to the people with the word hardware.
In the same vein. There are some really impressive graphical things going on (even on PS5). When the sun is setting or rising, you can see it over the horizon/mountains casting a shadow in real time. And I found that the pop in was only egregious if I ever used a ferry stone to the main city area. When I walk there after a long session of exploring the world, it’s usually fine. ALSO, I’d argue you can make the game feel good on PS5 by playing slow and real immersed, that’s how I’m going about it and I have minimal complaints (this is coming from a guy who values FPS > everything else).
@@CZProductions how many hours have you played on console vs them? Obviously the console players would know what it looks like, and if they like it then it's good
I've put in around 40 hours on ps5 and the only complaint I have is the pop in. But that seems to be on any platform. I only really see a dip in performance if I have 1-2 mages casting a big ass iceberg on the battlefield
Been living in Japan for 10 years and I remember at first I couldn’t even find a WoW server or LoL server to play on, because they didn’t exist here. Japan is a console country through and through, and as a pc gamer to play their shit you’ll usually have to deal with ports, generally resulting in your 2000 dollar rig being outperformed by 500 dollar PlayStations. Just the way it is.
What worse version did I pay for then? I’ve got no performance issues and I’ve got the recommended specs listed on steam, nothing crazy. No crashes and no breaking bugs. Sometimes for us that work it’s easier to plan around release schedules we know months in advanced than trying to organise our individual week.
I’ve had fun with Dragons Dogma 2 but it has way more issues than just optimization and micro transactions. Best way to put the game is that it feels more like the foundation of a masterpiece but overall is pretty rough
Does Series S and it's obvious limitations even with respect to the X and PS5 have a bigger part to play in console versions of games struggling so much lately?
After some performance improvements I think the game will be damn near perfect. So much fun just wondering around and notice a griffon is legitimately hunting you, or minotaur busting out of a forest charging at you. Its extremely dynamic.
This is why I often wait for when games go a deeper sale and are often more than a year (or sometimes multiple years) old. Patient Gamer means saving money and less janky things you play.
Just bought it and honestly its pretty, but the way they completely destroyed the controling just ruined it for me and on top of that they destroyed the ranger vocation. i loved dark arisen, but this was not great, they should have kept what was working and evolved. But it does look good
Looks great on ps5. No lag or framerate drops. There is a little pop in with character models and some interactive objects like boxes or barrels. Only happened a few times that I noticed. Have about 20 hours in give or take.
It looks great on ps5. If pop ins bother you, you are playing this game for the wrong reasons. It is the most fun I’ve ever had in a game and I’ve only played one vocation
Im loving it. Game runs well outside city areas. Theres a free mod that unlocks FG that capcom disabled for some reason or you can just use lossless scaling that works well. Until they start patching the performance
I feel like playing on PC is like a drug you can never come back from. I’ve always played on console and I never notice frames unless it starts chopping into a slide show. But 30 and 60 feel the same once you play a few hours of either
I swear too many people are out here acting like they have the highest gaming standards lol. Ive clocked in about 60 hours or so on Ps5 with not one issue.
My ps5 playthrough has been flawless. Absolutely enjoy the game. It gave me the courage to play Eden Ring. My first souls-like playthrough ever and I’m loving it!
if you in the know you know(u can boost the fps on pc), I can get 100-115 in the town and 145-175 out in the open fighting Griffins etc on my pc RTXon..it does need a patch it cpu heavy. on a 4080super @1440p
WTF are you talking about I'm on PS5 and that npc fade in/out never existed. The only issues is the frame drops every now and then which is hardly noticable.
Yea was going to comment that. I have it on Xbox and steam (don’t ask why, it just happened and yes, I paid full price for both 😭) pc specs is a 12900ks and a 3090. I get 80fps outside town on large towns 50-60. On Xbox I get 30 +/- a couple fps in towns and 42 outside towns. Pretty solid 42 according to my tv. Tv specs is 75inch 4k @120 and has VVR and freesync so that def helps smoothen the experience a bit
Game is fun. I don't mind lowering my graphic settings to low and so far no major issues. Frame dropping at major cities and the fade in npcs, which i don't really mind.
There's no real micro transactions, don't stress about that. The Internet connection is needed because it's an online game. It's pretty good, don't let the crazy narratives some online folks came up with keep you away from it.
We need Shorts on the best succesful way to obtain skills and specializations from NPCs. Also, what benefits do you get when you give gifts to some of the other characters listed in the menu history?
I have like 250 hours on ps5 and have had 0 issues. I think people complaining are just jumping on the bandwagon about “micro transactions bad dd2 bad” without ever playing the first one or the second.
Another lucky ones… I quite enjoying the game (despite it’s full of bugs and terrible choices), but the performance are from games from 1/2 generations ago... in big cities when you run it's a continuous appearing and disappearing npcs.... in the most heated battles I think the game drops to 10 fps, the fact that you can't lock enemies is annoying and the fact that there are only 4 skill slots is truly an absurd choice
It's feels good on ps5, yea 30fps isn't awesome but 60 would be nice, the fade in npc is strange but doesn't bother me personally and idk what you mean by bouncing about on ps5, I've encountered next to no problems with the game
Had it since day on PS5 and honestly have had zero issues. The camera is a little wonky at times when fighting a massive creature within a tight space. That, with all the spells going off can make for a confusing fight at times.Overall an excellent game. They have plans to keep releasing more content for it as well.Dont believe the hype and negativity.I always have to judge things based on my experience. If I used all of these vids as a barometer for my decision, then I would never get off the porch because of all the fear mongering.I also usually wait to purchase AAA games until they are on sale with all.improvements.But,I played the original for years and just couldn't wait for this one.
Played through the whole game on series s literally no problems other than pop in inside of cities. From what I hear it's better on console by a long shot.
I dd2 on ps5 and I plays great and doesn’t bounce around . Had cyclops and griffin and goblins and pack of wolves in one Barkley no slow down ran smooth . The guy need his pa5 fixed.
Jsut finished lies of p an lords of the fallen an was looking to pick this up since rise of ronin isn’t really getting the best reviews but I’m on ps5 so should I get or not ? Or any other game recommendations Anyone has I’m open to them :)
Granted, my cpu is old garbage at this point, but DD2 needs optimization badly. My gpu casually strolls at around 10% while my cpu is screaming out in agony at 100%. And there are no settings to help reduce the load.
I don't get why it's such a low fps. I love it but it's not like the graphics are great or anything. I wonder when they're going to start making games with basic af graphics but make an a.i that runs in real-time that adds high def textures, lighting etc.
This is why, although I really want to play the game, I'm holding off on it because there should be no reason why my 380 computer that I got for 4k back in 2019 should have to struggle with playing this game on medium or high settings. There's just no reason. I don't understand how these people keep on putting out games that have such ass optimization.
That’s the quality I expect for an early access game at 20$ max. Yet early access games are usually far better than that while full releases are awful.
I must just have a super ps5 because I've had minimal bugs in Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart, Dragons Dogma 2, Spiderman 2, and jedi Survivor, maybe most people don't clean ther ps5
I'm sorry has our gamer Stockholm syndrome really escalated to the point where we're now okay with paying 70 dollars for a game without a new game option? And then shilling for it on top of that?
It's actually kinda the opposite. Gamers have become so entitled that they think 70$ isn't an absolute steal for at minimum, 20 hours of entertainment. If you need a second save slot, you've probably already gotten your money's worth from the game.
Having a single save slot is so you don't save scum your way out of making shit decisions with no consequences. The game wants you to live with the mistakes you make that's part of the experience. If you wanna make different decisions there is always ng+. The games whole premise is an endless cycle you won't get everything the first time.
“We’re now okay” I mean we were okay back then and we all knew this prior. What do we really need the second save slot for anyway? There is very little reason to have more than one character. You can swap classes freely without debilitating consequences unless you are a min maxer They are working on the issue regardless.
It’s amazing, but it is clunky, at least at first, and it does not hold your hand. You need to pay attention to context clues and figure some things out for yourself. The performance also needs to be improved, but other than that this game is everything I wanted from a sequel.
I play on PC and it’s still not good. Towns absolutely tank my fps still. I’m not running with an absolute monster PC but it’s still pretty solid and should be able to handle this effortlessly.
Because it's a solid game and the only issue is major cities and even then it's not horrendous even on console, it's a bit annoying sure and they're working on fixing the issues with npcs. Is it said that even high end pcs can't always maintain 60 fps because of the cpu? Yeah but it's not new to most games in 4k.. you drop it to 1440 or 1080 and the game does a lot better. The npcs are all individually simulated by the cpu for some reason, my guess is time constraints and it was left because it'd take time to fix and they probably couldn't hit the deadline. They're not even rhe only game that does this, cpus aren't at the level of gpus and won't be for a while if ever, otherwise it probably wouldn't matter as much. It's sad to see though because the game us outstanding otherwise.
@@allandm I do not think so, they don't have a performance mode that I am aware of, it's honestly really sad to see because the game is amazing otherwise, you'll probably have to wait a few months to actually play on console and even on pc for some for fixes to come through.
i got an RTX 3060 12GB with a I5 121400F:i am playing HFW an i never go below 40 fps on very high settings and i got 0 stutters, now with Dogma 2 in the big cities(capital) without DLSS am dropping to t he low 20's the shadows look awefull RT is even worse and thats on High preset cause there is not Very High and barae in mind thats on 1080p@@yulfine1688
PC really isn't the way they've patched up the game it's obviously not perfect but when is it ever console is for people who have lives, jobs, families/kids which is more common than PC
The sucky reality for modern gaming is that when a game launches, it rarely launches finished, feeling like it’s in the beta stage…which it probably is.
Yeah im done with day 1 steam purchases. I never buy at release because of shit like this. Even a game I was omega hyped for I waited a month to get to make sure the game didnt run like dog water.
PC is still a problem. I'm on a 4090 w/ a 13900k and I'm hitting 36fps in Vernworth. I played last night in a boss battle where 3 wolves and 3 harpies showed up and I started freeze framing mid combat and had to double tap windows key to unfreeze. You can't compare it to Starfield though because damn near every NPC in DD2 is a potential pawn for your party. They're not just filler.
lol do you have dlss on??? I’m guessing you’re running the game at 4K( I have the same setup, but get up to 80 fps standing in the town square with the fountain.)
I sadly paid 70$ for this. Was not a fan of the first one at all and was hoping for a redemption bc i loved the vibe but hated the gameplay. Sadly they just dropped the 1st game on a slightly cooler map
