@@paulmccarter908 There's evidence that they changed how stats work from the first game meaning your stats might change upon vocation change. No absolute proof yet. There likely won't be a respect.
You get to use a double-sided spear _and_ have telekinetic powers? Sign me up. It's going to be ridiculously fun to pick up a goblin, throw it at an enemy smacking them in the face with it, then go to work on them with the spear. This is truly a dream vocation for me.
Yeah... I don't see how they could announce a vocation that is cooler than this one... and I missed the Assassin at first... but the Wayfarer being able to use 3 vocations at once basically covers that role. I hope they do add more vocations... but I am satisfied with what they've done here. This is bloody hours of fun guaranteed lol
@@MilkTestingMan But you're like.. Darth Maul... Even if they add a monk.. can hand to hand fighting be as cool as Darth Maul? Can a necromancer be as cool as Darth Maul? ... Can a samurai be as cool as Darth Maul? No. So I am fairly happy to put the idea to bed. Did I expect them to come up with Trickster or Mystic Spearhand? ... no. I have no way of imagining what they might do, and I gave up before I even started. This is all really cool stuff. 3wks... sweeeet
something i think needs mentioning is: according to the IGN team, the devs who they spoke to said mystic spearmand is a glass cannon class. i forgot the exact phrasing they used but it was something “oni” and it was mentioned on IGN’s long video on their views after playing
The High Scepter class from DDON had a similar "Fire Bolt to tag enemy, and to teleport to or away from them" mechanic. This class also looks and has similar moves to DDON's Spirit Lancer. This vocation is the baby of those two classes.
I think that attack he uses against the griffin and chimera is a different skill from the regular dash. The dash teleport is always shown with a bolt attack beforehand, and always lands in the same direction the Arisen is facing. Against the two bosses he does a different attack where he teleports to their back. I think this is a different skill, which only requires to be close to the enemy and can be used in the air. What I'm not so sure is about that leaping attack against the chimera before the back teleport. Maybe that's how the dash attack looks when you don't tag them with a bolt, or maybe it's a different skill altogether
It does seems different skill, The dash attack to chimera one seems similar to mystic knight sky rapture The teleporation magic to griffin similar to high scepter mirage shift
The gameplay showcase they published is easily the sexiest looking RPG combat I have ever seen in my entire life s.s I LOVE spears because historically they were the KINGS of the battlefield, yet swords get overly represented in media because people like swords more visually I guess? So swords get made out to be MUCH better weapons than they are, while spears are presented as much weaker than they realistically are. So when DD2 announced a class called mystic SPEARhand, I was excited. Then I was terribly disappointed that it literally does NOT HAVE A SPEAR. That double blade thingy is NOT a spear, nowhere close to one. Even a double bladed spear would need a shaft almost twice as long, then we could call it a double bladed SWORDSTAFF. Which is a type of polearm. Anyways, then when I saw how incredible it's gameplay looked I just accepted that this class has nothing to do with actual spears and that I will just play it as a very cool battlemage kinda class. Looks totally amazing obviously, I just feel betrayed/baited by the word "spear" in it's name when it literally doesn't use anything close to a spear. It uses a double sword, kinda like the double bladed light saber in star wars. Aaaaaanyways, there were NPCs seen with regular spears if I remember correctly? So since DD NPCs never had unique equipment, but only stuff that actually exists, I would guess that means we get a vocation that uses an ACTUAL SPEAR as well. If so, that vocation has to be my main for my first playthrough, as I have not seen even a single RPG in my entire lifetime that does the spear justice as a weapon. All video game spears are slow, sluggish and boring. Look at a proper spearman move around quickly while he thrusts thrice as a fast as a sword can hope to swing. I want that 😭
@@OSKGaming123 I knew I was remembering something like that. Please dragons dogma do NOT disappoint me with spears s.s Games usually just focus on slow, straight thrusts with spears, one after the other, as if spears can't combo. Meanwhile proper realistic spear use would have you thrust up to three times faster than a swordfighter can ever swing his sword effectively. I hope it's a nimble, fast class that focuses on barely outspacing enemies with the reach advantage of the spear. Basically fighting with melee attacks while constantly stepping backwards to keep the enemy just within reach but never letting them get to you. So fast attacks, some input that allows me to walk backwards while attacking and facing the enemy, good looking thrust combos, using the butt of the spear if blunt force is really necessary and NOT randomly swinging the spear like a glaive like soooo many RPGs like to do s.s If it's a partisan, you can get away with it in SOME circumstances, but generally spears are for THRUSTING, yet video game developers are so uncreative with thrusting movesets, because swings just look flashier, that they always end up having an attack for their spears where you just swing the spear sideways like that isn't the most ineffective stuff that just leaves you wide open lol. PLEASE CAPCOM! I have hope that the attacks will be very quick and action packed, because these guys made DMC; they know how to make action combat. But here's to hoping they actually inform themselves on historical spear combat a little bit so they don't fall into the trap of making the spear user too stationary or swinging the spear like a club s.s
@@thejoaquindead9515 No, I've seen gameplay of it and it didn't catch me personally. But given my comment I suppose you are telling me there is good SPEAR combat in that game? 🤔 I'm listening.
That teleportation skill similar to High Scepter Mirage shift but this one doesn't play like High Scepter at all, playstyle wise its very similar to Spirit Lancer. Instead of supporting skills it has crowd control and utility. High scepter rely more for it nuke skills for damage instead of melee combo, it doesnt need stamina to cast the skills but it need unique gauge that you build up by attacking market target using melee attack.
@@calie03hoodYea, I have been play DD forever. Still playing it daily and finding out new things and combinations. I can't be low key hype haha. I am ready now
Vocations have their own stat growrh that adjust whenever you change to them. Like one class you’ll have 98 strength then when you change to another you have 198 strength. You don’t have to pick any specific vocations in preparation of mystic spearhand.
i just hope there’s a lot of weapons to choose from and different armor sets as well i didn’t really play the first game can anyone let me in on how much choice armor and weapon wise was in the first game?
@@thejoaquindead9515There weren’t prerequesite vocations last time either. Where do people (mostly journalists) keep getting the idea that you had to grind to unlock vocations in DD1? “Being able to just pick whatever vocation you want to play” is how it was in DD1 as soon as you hit gran soren. There are actually *more* requirements to get vocations now since you have to find the trainer.
The shadow clones remind me of the one ash ability from Elden Ring. Hope the class gets cool armor to go along with the abilities since I never played the first Dragon's Dogma.
If u play black desert online the class seems to take heavy inspiration on the Hashashin class, armor and weapons alike so u need not to worry is a badass looking class all around
Omg the rift in dragon's dogma 2 will be full of useless, ugly woke as fk pawn now that new people is discovering this franchise.😅 People covering the game when they haven't even play the first game.
