@dwyerd4532
@dwyerd4532 4 года назад
If your players don't go to that location, you bring that location to your players. Put it between where they are and where they want to go. Create a detour or something, or make them back track because of some random plot point you make up that makes them need to accomplish something before they show up to the place you weren't prepared for (while you start preparing the place they are headed in your mind😎)

I think my favourite thing about all his work is that he uses a kitchen knife (and, if I'm not mistaken, a sword in one scene) to do a lot of his work... plus the fact he uses The Silmarillian as a weight. Awesome work!

Just found your channel now, and thank you so much for this. I have barely any money, and barely any professional materials for crafting terrain, and I still want to be able to play and have items and structures to interact with. Although using fairly readily materials and techniques, they still looked so good, and were functional. This actually helps so much because I do have or at least have access to all of these materials. You just got a new subscriber.

The cork flocking for the rock surface looks awesome. Instead of using cardboard to model the rocks, you could use thin layers of styrofoam, yeah the bubbly one. It is a mess, but cheap as hell and after covering it with paper mache (toilet paper + wood glue) or/and your wood flocking it will be as durable as any other material.

A good tip for a "rotting" dragon would be bits of tissue soaked in glue, bunched up a little here, layered there in order to give the impression of rotting, dripping flesh hanging off the bones.

Cardboard makes it wonderfully practical for most miniature games; angled terrain is liable to make minis fall over all the time, but layering it like this means even the most top-heavy mini should work :)

Glad to see you using cardboard -its how we used to make our 'terrain' as kids (back in the 1960s!). Foam can be hard to get depending where you live as well as expensive. Cardboard seems to be everywhere and seeing this terrain piece and the excellent dwarven stronghold I think it ought to inspire many more terrain makers!

Hello from France ! I just discovered your channel right now, and i really wanted to leave a comment. The first video i watched was the Dwarven Stronghold. And then, this Dragon's Gorge now. Both video are really amazing. The way you explain things, during the process, the music in the background. I was like, "that's really great" or "I really like these videos". You do exactly the kind of video i enjoy so much, because of the creativity, yes, and you give all the steps to do it myself. I'm into the whole fantasy universe, like, i love the RPG stuff, like Warhammer, D&D, RPG about Lord of the Ring and so on and so on, and i do Fantasy audiobook in my youtube channel. But i'm like a newbie to paiting. I painted a Warhammer Kroots squad when i was like 14/15 years old. I'm now 29, turning 30 this year (august) and i'm seriously thinking about going to paiting and starting this new creating experience. I even think to rent a bigger flat. to have one more room dedicated to this new adventure of creating and paiting. And i really want to do all this too, because of the videos like yours and others people i saw. Because i love these universes, it's great relaxing activity. Netxt video i'm going to watch is How to Craft & Use Terrain to Build Encounters in D&D. I'm definitely watching more of you. And of course i subscribed. Thank you again for your time and your works.

I will try this, tonight, but instead of using the bark flocking (as I don't have any right now) I will use sculptamold that I do have on hand to finish the edges. Fantastic work! Furthermore, the dragon skeleton is spot on! I've always wanted to add a detail like this but thought I could never pull it off. Your method looks very achievable and very convincing!
