You basically recreate the story mode in the dueling modes however you'd like, choose the right fighters and you get triggered in-fight dialogue like Budokai Tenkaichi 3's story mode did. But aside from that, there's no conventional story mode in this game.
Based on my opinion I would place raging blast 2 as my second favourite dbz game and fighterz as the best, dragon ball devolution is my third favourite
